The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is applauding the White House for including a vegetarian option on the menu for President Obamas dinner with British Prime Minister David Cameron.

The White House released the menu for what its calling Thursday nights working dinner in the Blue Room. Vice President Biden will join Obama and Cameron at the meal.

The new White House has recognized that the world diet and people's tastes are changing for the better and you can't get much better than roasted artichokes, PETA President Ingrid Newkirk told ITK in a statement.

Its not the first time White House chefs have whipped up a vegetarian option for a visiting world leader. A 2009 state dinner honoring Indias then-Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, a vegetarian, was tailored to meet his dietary needs.

Other items on Thursdays menu include: pickled wild mushrooms and heirloom tomatoes with goat cheese in a red onion vinaigrette; herb-crusted lamb with preserved lemon, roasted artichokes and orzo Florentine; and a dessert of warm pear cake, coffee ice cream and caramel popcorn.

Camerons dinner is part of a two-day visit to the White House.

Newkirk added another culinary option for Cameron, saying, If the president wants to show David Cameron the town, Barack Obama's favorite Washington fast-food eatery, Ben's Chili Bowl, already has vegan chili, vegan burgers, and vegan hot dogs on its menu.
