A former Medina resident is bringing her yoga studio to the outdoors this summer at Mapleside Farms in Brunswick.

Chelsea Piszczek, 23, of Lakewood, plans to host yoga classes at the picturesque farm Saturday and Sunday mornings starting in May and continuing into early fall.

Piszczek who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2012 hopes to donate some of her profits to agencies that help people suffering from MS.

The Medina High School graduate said she started practicing yoga regularly after her diagnosis. Her doctor told her regular yoga classes would help the MS symptoms she is expected to develop in the future.

The disease interferes with the central nervous system and can cause muscles to tighten up.

While she isnt suffering from physical symptoms yet, Piszczek found that regular yoga helped alleviate depression and anxiety that developed following a new treatment of prescription drugs that affected her mood.

The emotional side effects of all the medicines being pumped into my body were difficult, she said. Yoga was something I was able to do something for myself and fight MS now and later, and it helped me regain control.

Yoga helped me find inner peace and cope with it. Thats what made me decide to start Fit for Hope.

Next month, Piszczek and her friend, Corrie Maresh, a 34-year-old breast cancer survivor, are opening Fit for Hope, a yoga studio in Rocky River.
