Gator Eats Man #39;s Arm
Man-eating Alligator bites off Man #39;s arm in Lake Moultrie in South Carolina. It was a warm sunny.. Sunday afternoon in South Carolina. 59 year old, Bill Hedden scanned the surface of Lake Moultrie before entering the water with his snorkel. Bill was only safe for about 5 minutes before an aggressive 12 foot long 600 pound gator found him and attacked with over 2000 pounds of pressure, bit off the man #39;s left arm at the shoulder joint. Mr Hedden rushed out of the water and collapsed about 20 feet away from a group of nurses who were picnicking in the recreation area. They rushed to his side to help.. applying pressure to the open wound to stop the bleeding. Meanwhile, officers from the Department of Natural Resources quickly tracked down the alligator and shot it several times. They cut open the man-eating gator and removed Bill #39;s arm. They placed Bill #39;s severed limp into an ice chest as paramedics arrived to take them both to the hospital. Unfortunately, the man #39;s arm could not be re-attached but luckily Bill has made a full recovery and thanks the group of nurses who saved his life. Mr Hedden, a retired US Navy master chief, had been swimming in different parts of the lake regularly for excercise Bill #39;s son Brian was quoted saying- "We #39;ve lived here a long time," "We #39;re aware pretty much that if there #39;s fresh water around, there #39;s a chance of an alligator.
