Monday, the Minister of Health Feras Hawari said that the increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in Jordan is expected, especially after the reopening of sectors across the Kingdom and the return to in-person education.

This came during a meeting held by the Health, Environment and Population Committee, the Ministry of Health, and the Jordanian Food and Drug Administration.

Hawari stressed that there is no return to online education in schools.

He also said that the Kingdom will not witness a new COVID-19 wave similar to previous ones.

During the meeting, Hawari indicated that 33 percent of the COVID-19 infections recorded daily are among those aged between 10 and 17, noting there are two million people within this age group in Jordan.

He also expected that the Kingdom would not record more than 3,000 coronavirus cases per day.

Regarding receiving the third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, Hawari indicated that the Kingdom began offering it to those over the age of 60, in addition to health sector workers about a month and a half ago, and it will begin administering it in the coming weeks to all age groups who have received two doses of the vaccine.

Last week, the Ministry of Health announced that it is considering administering a third dose of the coronavirus vaccine six months after the second dose. This includes everyone in Jordan.
