Live in community and pursue accountability. I see a huge difference between my clients who engage in our supportive community and practice daily accountability versus men and women who try to practice the lifestyle alone. Community and accountability are key to longevity in a health and fitness lifestyle.

I had the pleasure to interview Amanda Tress. Amanda is the CEO + Founder, of FASTer Way to Fat Loss. She developed the program after being put on high blood pressure medication and suffering from severe food sensitives along with a metabolic disorder. After years of research and fine- tuning, she was able to eliminate her medication, metabolic disorder and food sensitives with a dairy and gluten free lifestyle. Amandanow a Certified Nutrition Coach, Strength and Conditioning Coach, and Personal Trainerknew she wanted to empower clients all over the world to burn fat effectively and transform their lives in a healthy and sustainable way.

Thank you so much for chatting with us Amanda! What is your backstory?

My journey to revolutionize the health and fitness industry actually started when I was a teenager. I struggled with a metabolic disorder, high blood pressure, and severe food sensitivities. My doctor never asked me to change my lifestyle or diet, and instead simply put me on medication. I was only 17.

When I entered college, I decided to take matters into my own hands and educate myself regarding whole-food nutrition and a healthy lifestyle. After a lot of research and trial and error, I was able to wean myself off of blood pressure medication. I quickly decided to become a personal trainer and nutrition coach to empower other people to get healthy as well.

Whole-food nutrition, consistent exercise, and a paleo food log helped me feel less bloated and also kept my blood pressure stable. However, I was still dealing with food sensitivities and exhaustion after delivering my first two babies.

In 2015, I started hearing about intermittent fasting and carb cycling. The strategies sounded extreme but after diving into the research, I decided to experiment with them on my own. The results were astounding! I was able to shed the final baby weight after delivering my son, increase my energy with carb cycling, AND eliminate my food sensitivities with a dairy-free and gluten-free lifestyle.

Instead of simply implementing IF with a paleo food log, I added an IIFYM approach (which is a flexible dieting system that says you can eat whatever you want If It Fits Your Macros) and diligently tracked my macronutrients (macros). I cycled carbohydrates based on the workouts I planned to do each day of the week.

After years of straddling the fence between feeling healthy and experiencing near-debilitating health problems, I found the answer. And I knew I had to share it. As a result, I created the FASTer Way to Fat Loss.

Can you share your top three lifestyle tweaks that you believe will help support peoples journey towards better wellbeing?

Making simple lifestyle changes can totally transform someones health. This usually shocks people who are used to taking drastic measures in an attempt to lose weight. Here are my top tips:

Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you started your career?

Last spring, I poured my time and energy into writing my first book, The FASTer Way to Fat Loss. My desire for the book was to take the FASTer Way lifestyle to the masses. Within days of being published, The FASTer Way to Fat Loss became a top-selling book on Amazon! I couldnt wait for thousands of men and women to get their hands on my program secrets.

The excitement took a turn, though, when the Amazon reviews became a breeding ground for trolls and haters. Critics of my program used the Amazon platform to spew hateful things about me and the program I worked tirelessly to create.

I quickly learned that Amazon is the wild, wild west of retail. Anyoneeven those who have never purchased or read the bookcan leave a negative review and say countless untrue things about me, my team, my program, and even our online community. Within just a few days, we also discovered a counterfeit version of my book was being sold on Amazon as a scam. Weve gone back and forth with Amazon to remove the copycat, but the knock-off book becomes available again as soon as its removed. Its an ongoing battle.

That experience was instrumental in developing a thick skin when I was being criticized and attacked publicly. This quote by Theodore Roosevelt continually inspires me to stay focused on my goals regardless of the criticism I receive: It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat.

Can you share a story about the biggest mistake you made when you were first starting? Can you tell us what lesson you learned from that?

When I first started the FASTer Way to Fat Loss over three years ago, I had 13 revenue streams and was going in way too many directions. Im an entrepreneur at heart and my attention was largely divided between getting the FASTer Way off the ground and growing my mentorship and full-service digital marketing agency for women in fitness. Both businesses were successful, and both needed my full attention.

After delivering my third child, I knew I had to make a change and focus all my efforts into the FASTer Way to Fat Loss. Thats when we were finally able to create major traction in the marketplace, and the business took off from there!

When it comes to health and wellness, how is the work you are doing helping to make a bigger impact in the world?

Ive created the most effective fat loss program on the market as an answer to all the problems that other popular programs have created for millions of men and women. The FASTer Way to Fat Loss has transformed the lives of over 100,000 men and women around the world. Sure, the program helps clients discover healthy and sustainable fat loss, but the real magic is in the feeling of empowerment that each and every one of my clients experience. It affects every area of their lives to help them reach their full potential!

None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story about that?

Believe it or not, the worst boss I ever worked for before becoming an entrepreneur was the catalyst for my success. He created a toxic work environment for the whole team, and particularly targeted me. Ill never forget how horribly he treated me. Thats when the lightbulb went offI knew I was made for more and I wanted to do whatever it took to become my own boss. And let me tell you, no one has ever made me feel worthless or incapable again. I wake up every day with a smile because I have the opportunity to work for myself and build a business with excellence.

If you could start a movement that would bring the most amount of wellness to the most amount of people, what would that be?

Ive already started a movement: The FASTer Way! My program is the fastest-growing online fitness and nutrition program on the market today. Our community is growing, and we are disrupting the marketplace. The science-backed strategies, effective workouts, daily accountability, and supportive community are what help our clients experience sustainable fat loss that transforms their lives from the inside out.

What is your 3 Things I Wish Someone Told Me Before I Started and why?

As with most things in life, hindsight is 20/20. Ive learned so much as a young, female entrepreneur and I love sharing my experience with other entrepreneurs who are just starting out! While not everyone is cut out to be an entrepreneur or CEO, I know without a doubt that this is my life purpose. Having that confidence and drive is what helps me overcome the obstacles along the way. Here are three things I wish someone would have told me:

Do you have a girl-crush in this industry? If you could take one person to brunch, who would it be? (Let another woman in wellness know that you respect her as a teacher and guide!)

I have endless respect for Ellen Latham, the co-founder of Orange Theory. I love her heart and her mission and learning from her would be incredible!

Sustainability, veganism, mental health and environmental changes are big topics at the moment. Which one of these causes is dearest to you, and why?

We are passionate about environmental change in the FASTer Way. We believe in eliminating as many toxins from the body as possible, and in doing so, reducing our carbon footprint and the amount of toxins in our environment. In addition to focusing on whole-food nutrition, we also practice detoxes throughout the year to help clients focus on what were putting in and, on our bodies, and how that affects their overall health as well as the environment. I believe everyone is capable of making small changes that can lead to big results.
