Early bird boot camp: 5:30-6:30 a.m. Fridays through Feb. 24, Challenge Fitness, 2021 S. Lawrence Ave., in Lockport is offering Early Bird Boot Camp for ages 14 years and older. Class features body-weight exercises that burn fat quickly, boost endurance and build lean muscle mass. Fees is $75 for residents and nonresidents. Led by a registered labor and delivery nurse, during this two-day class participants will learn about labor, delivery, recovery, the postpartum period and birthing options. Feb. 21

Healthy Heart Event: 1 p.m. Feb. 21, Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center auditoriums A, B and C. Get a head start on your heart health this year by attending the Healthy Heart Event. There will be a panel discussion with several prominent cardiovascular physicians and from 2-4 p.m. there will be heart health screenings, including BMI, waist measurement, blood pressure, cholesterol, three-lead EKG, heart rhythm strips and more. Adult drumming workshop: 6:30-8 p.m. Feb. 21. Healing from grief, release and restoration at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, 12 Sauk Trail in Frankfort. CPR for the healthcare provider: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Morris Hospital, 150 W. High St. Intended for licensed and certified healthcare professionals, this course teaches the skills of CPR for victims of all ages, use of an automated external defibrillator and relief of foreign-body airway obstruction. Arthritis exercise program: 10:45-11:45 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays from Feb. 28-April 5 at The Oaks Recreation and Fitness Center, 10847 LaPorte Road, Mokena. The class is designed for individuals of all ages with varying degrees of arthritis and other rheumatic diseases so they can exercise to improve strength and mobility.
