JOHNSTOWN Motorists returning from the United States across the international bridge at Johnstown may experience delays or increased wait times Tuesday morning.

Travelers are advised that from 9 a.m. until noon, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and other area first-responders will conduct an emergency preparedness training exercise at the Prescott Port of Entry at the base of the bridge between Johnstown and Ogdensburg, N.Y.

The port of entry and customs offices will remain open at all times, but delays can be expected.

U.S.-bound traffic will not be affected, says the CBSA.

The exercise is an initiative by the border services and area emergency response organizations to respond to threats to the traveling public.

Other participants include emergency responders from Prescott, Edwardsburgh-Cardinal, Leeds and Grenville Emergency Medical Services, Ontario Provincial Police and U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Travelers planning to cross the bridge Tuesday may check border wait times on CBSA's Twitter or websites.
