A potentially life changing opportunity starts this Monday at the Payson Public Library a new meditation book group is forming.

The gathering will offer attendees a chance to experience the gentle, yet powerful, practice of meditation. The book utilized by the group is entitled True Meditation.

A passage from that book observed: It doesnt matter whether one is brand new to meditation or has been meditating for a long time. What matters is the attitude with which we engage the process of meditation. The most important thing is that we come to meditation with an open attitude, an attitude that is truly innocent, by which I mean an attitude thats not colored by the past, by what weve heard about meditation through culture, through the media, or through our various spiritual and religious traditions. We need to approach the notion of meditation in a way that is fresh and innocent.

The group will meet on the second and fourth Mondays of each month through January from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 pm. Participants will sit comfortably in chairs for this practice.

The book may be obtained through Amazon.com for $15, and includes a CD of two guided meditations. There is no charge to attend.

The facilitator, Kimberly Chambers, is a retired teacher with 35 years of meditation practice. She has held many spiritual book groups since the 1990s, including Eckhart Tolles The Power of Now, Deepak Chopras Seven Spiritual Laws of Success, and Arizonas Dr. David Hawkins Power vs. Force.
