If even this super-woke yoga studio falls victim to todays cancel culture, where will it all end? – RT

Kindness Yoga Studios in Denver, Colorado offered gender-neutral bathrooms, person-of-color nights, and LGBTQ+ workshops but was still canceled for insufficient wokery. This just proves nothing is ever enough for the mob.

Despite being one of the wokest businesses ever, the chain of yoga studios has just been shut down after a localized Instagram storm accused them of performative activism.

Activism is by its very nature performative, especially when done on social media, but if this business isnt woke enough to survive the purge, I dont believe that there is one in existence that can keep up with these standards.

Kindness Yoga Studios has been going in Denver since 2001, and even by yoga studio standards, it is staggeringly progressive. The Colorado Sun reports that the business had gender-neutral bathrooms, person-of-color yoga nights where white friends and allies were asked to respectfully refrain from attending, and LGBTQ+ yoga workshops. It even had a donation-based model, meaning people werent barred from entry on the basis of their ability to pay, with some paying as little as $1 for a class.

That is uber-woke, that is avant-garde woke, that is to mainstream modern leftism what Terrance Malik is to mainstream cinema. People-of-color-only nights, LGBTQ yoga workshops, gender neutral bathrooms, and virtually free classes? Im personally amazed a business model like that managed to succeed, but, somehow, Patrick Harrington managed to make it do so for 19 years. All for it to be brought down thanks to a pincer movement of Americas current twin hysterias: Covid-19 and racism but mainly racism.

As the Black Lives Matter movement has gone from strength to strength in the USA and around the world, grievance mongers have been emboldened. Before the killing of George Floyd, there was already an uncomfortable willingness of some to cry racism where there was none, and fringe elements constantly hectoring people for their new religions sins, white privilege being the main one, replacing the old original sin of the Christian faith.

Others, like cultural appropriation, transphobia and unconscious bias, all fell into the purview of the new police of vice and virtue. Following the BLM protests around the world, they now enforce their new religion with the zeal of a crusader or jihadist.

Patrick Harringtons 19-year-old business came to a crashing end in the space of a few days earlier this month after two employees turned the mob on Kindness Yoga Studios with a couple of Instagram posts. A black former employee, Davida Taylor, took to Instagram to say that the studios performative activism was making it unsafe for BIPOC and LGBTQ+ students and teachers.

Around the same time another former employee, an indigenous trans man named Jordan Smiley, also decided it was a good time to go after his workplace. Smiley accused white-owned yoga studios of having distorted yoga into foremost a physical practice, instead of a mental one, and have instituted a preference for a certain body type, color of skin, ableism and athleticism.

Neither Taylor nor Smiley raised these issues with Kindness Studios before they posted their grievances publicly. Smiley claims he didnt want Kindness to shut down but rather undergo serious inclusivity work.

Taylor seemed downright vindictive. When the white CEO started crying at her resignation, Taylor accused her of the weaponizing of sadness and tears in a viral video. She added: It is one of the more insidious factors of white supremacy and whiteness. And it is used as a tool and as a tactic to make me feel in this black body that I have done something inherently wrong to bring this sadness upon you.

Putting it bluntly, this is f**king insane. Harrington has seen 19 years of his life go down in flames, he is even having to sell his house to cope with the financial fallout of these baseless accusations of white supremacy and hatred. The very idea of a white supremacist yoga studio is ridiculous, it was invented in India for Christs sake. But no matter, this mans livelihood can go up in smoke because he isnt quite woke enough. He tried, they told him the pictures on his website were too white, so he invited people of color to take part in a photoshoot, but of course this was tokenism. Too bad, whitey, your business has to go bye-bye.

Interestingly both Taylor and Smiley are now opening their own yoga studios funny old world, isnt it?

The most tragic thing of all? Harrington cant even bring himself to call out these baseless and mendacious accusations for what they are. Despite being upset, he acknowledges that my privilege could have me blind to [their grievances]. Im trying to learn.

Maybe if Harrington tries hard enough, he will finally learn to love Big Brother.

Courage can be hard to come by, at least for me. Though I know I have it, it can seem fleeting when I need it most. And, it's for that reason that I was excited to see a 27-minute flow to foster courage on Adriene Mishler's YouTube channel.

The video starts with some neck work which, after a long day, felt extra wonderful. Then, there's a few Cat Cows to get the spine loose and activate the core. The flow is full of high lunges, and it challenges you to stay grounded with transitions from Warrior One into Warrior Two and Peaceful Warrior.

Besides getting a great stretch in the back of the legs from the Forward Folds and Downward Dogs, this flow targets the abs with planks during which you are encouraged to declare quietly "I am strong," one of my favorite recurring lines Mishler uses often plank toe taps, and a variation of plank hip dips to work the obliques.

For me, the most overt moments of courage came from doing Warrior Three with airplane arms like we were flying and a quad-heavy pose I'd never done before: Twisted Chair. The flow concluded with some tension-releasing Lion's Breaths where we had the tongue out long and mouth open wide, Child's Pose, and Savasana.

The challenges that the video brought humbled me into being patient with myself and helped me hone my courage amid some of the more difficult poses. Mishler ends on an empowering note. "Remember: just the mere act of showing up can be so incredibly grand, so beneficial, putting us in a position physically, mentally, emotionally, and energetically to be brave, to be confident," she says. "And when we feel that courage, it's incredible what all we can do, what all we can share, how we can serve."

The pain of ignorance should tear you apart. Only then will the longing to know become intense. If the longing to know becomes intense, it is just one moment. The reason why it seems to be so far away is simply because the necessary longing has not come it is off and on. If the longing becomes so intense that, Till I know I cannot sleep, I cannot eat, I cannot breathe, if it becomes like that, then in just one moment, you will know. Because what you are seeking is not sitting on the mountain or floating in the clouds. It is within you. Jesus said, The kingdom of God is within you. If the kingdom of God was somewhere up in heaven and you do not care to go there or you are fine being here, it is okay. But if the kingdom of God is within you and you miss it, that is tragedy, isn't it? It is right here and people are missing it.

I have always described yoga as a ladder to the divine. Let us look at it through an analogy. Suppose you have always lived within a fort with fifty acres of land and a big wall around it. Initially, if the wall is big enough, it all seems to be okay. You feel quite all right. But then suddenly, you look up, and the birds and the wind seem to be going beyond the fifty acres.

There is something within you which gets into the madness. People around you who pretend to be sane the so-called worldly-wise people will tell you, Stop that nonsense. Just do what you have to do here. Do not have such fancy dreams. But you cannot suppress this. If you suppress it and if it does not find expression, you will suffer. If it seeks expression, you will suffer even more.

So what do we need to do? We need to build a ladder. A ladder cannot happen accidentally. You need a technology of building a ladder. That is what all the yoga is: just to build a ladder where you slowly go up, step-by-step. Every day, you keep up the practice and you will see, the way you experience life and the quality of your life will gradually change without even your notice. Slowly, step-by-step it will change and deliver you there.

Lie down on your back with your arms on the floor beside you. You can either fold both legs placing the feet close to the pelvis or lift up both legs straight to a 90-degree angle. Support your back with your palms, lift your legs to drop your toes behind you. Your middle and lower back is off the floor. Only then will you be able to touch your toes to the floor behind. If you are comfortable with the balance, you can interlace your fingers and place your palms on the floor, elbows straight.

Paschimottanasana

Begin with Dandasana. Ensure that your knees are slightly bent while your legs are stretched out forward. Extend your arms upward and keep your spine erect. Exhale and empty your stomach of air. Sit in a comfortable position of Sukhasana, Ardha Padmasana, Vajrasana or Poorna Padmasana. Keep your back straight, shoulders relaxed and close your eyes to focus on your breath. Place your palms on your knees facing upward (in Prapthi Mudra).

Technique

Gently close your right nostril with your thumb, inhale into your left nostril and close it, letting the breath out through the right nostril. Then inhale through your right, closing it to exhale only through your left. This makes one cycle.

Use protective gear when you step outside to avoid getting caught in the heavy downpours. Temperature fluctuations, pollution, and water contamination are some of the causes of infections and other monsoon-related diseases. Avoid eating out, and choose light, fresh home-cooked meals that are easy on the stomach.

This passedweekend was awonderful opening to the 2020 Yoga with Goatsseason. We held a Saturday and Sunday class, bothnear capacity.

A terrificstart in the midst of the new normal we find ourselvesliving in.

As the teamdiscussed the opening weekend we also took into consideration that after being house bound these pastfew months, the offering ofa mid week class might be exactly what our neighborsliving in and around the Hillsborough communitywould be interested in, so this Wed July 1st at 6pm we will host our first ever early evening class for you to come out andenjoy the friendly interaction withgoats, get some stretching in andget to know some of your neighbors!

Reopening Colorado: Yoga On The Rocks Returns With Limits On Attendance – CBS Denver

DENVER (CBS4) Yoga on the Rocks is back this summer, with a few guidelines like attendance restrictions for prevention of the spread of coronavirus. Attendance will be limited to a total of 175 participants.

In addition to yoga, there are new fitness classes like the Quarantine 15 Fitness Challenge and the return of SnowShape to get you prepped for the upcoming ski season. Theres also a new website where participants who dont want to travel.

We know how special Red Rocks is for folks not only in Colorado but across the country, so we are thrilled to be opening up the amphitheatre this summer for these fitness events, said Red Rocks spokesman Brian Kitts in a statement. And for those that might not be able to make it to Denver this summer, our new website and app brings the Red Rocks experience to your phone or computer like never before.

Yoga on the Rocks will run every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, beginning July 10 through August 30, 2020, with multiple sessions per day.

The Quarantine 15 Fitness Challenge runs Saturdays at 10 a.m. in partnership with Fitness in the City, designed to help shed some of that quarantine weight in a facilitated workout for all fitness levels utilizing the natural surroundings of the amphitheatre.

Finally, SnowShape is back for a four-week winter fitness series in September and October to help you get back in sliding and gliding shape ahead of the 2020-2021 ski season.

There are seven chakras on the human body that are used for meditation practices. These chakras are invisible wheels of energy used to release negative energies and bring in positive energies. These chakras start at the top of your head and travel down the spine to your root chakra.

A person's root chakra is found at the base of a person's spine and symbolizes being grounded and supported. Balancing one's root chakra can make a person feel centered, open, and trusting. How does a person open their root chakra and feel more firm? Scroll below to find 10 different yoga poses that can help.

A forward foldis exactly what it sounds like: standing at the foot of your mat, bend from the hips and reach for the ground. A yogi should try and get their chest as close to their thighs as they comfortably can without strain.

While taking deep breaths in and out, a person should feel this stretch in their hamstrings, lower back, and knees. It can loosen the root chakra and allow a person to feel grounded at the foot of their mat.

Bridge pose is one of those yoga exercises that is implemented in various classes and genres. While laying on the ground, bring your feet close to your body while being flat on the ground. Raise your bottom as high as you can towards the sky so that those hips are raised.

Doing this pose can release tension in a person's back while stretching the neck, hamstrings, and bum. With your feet planted safely, it's a great pose for a root chakra to feel trusted and guided.

The easy pose is one of those poses that is done by anyone who stretches (and doesn't even realize they're partaking in a yoga pose). While sitting on the ground with both legs crossed over each other, a yogi is stretching and opening their hips, lower back, chest, and knees.

The longer a person sits in this pose, the more open they'll feel and lower their legs will get to the ground. This pose is known to release stress, which makes it a fun one to do in the middle of the day to re-center.

Warrior II is one of those poses that's easily recognizable to both yogis and non-yogis alike. Standing in a lunge position, have the foot in front facing the direction in front of you while the back foot is parallel to the front.

Release those arms to the side and lean into the stretch. Keep your core tight and arms focused while doing Warrior II and a yogi will feel strong and stable, allowing the root chakra to bring in positive emotions and release the bad.

Surya Namaskar is more often referred to as sun salutations or saluting to the sun. It's an amazing sequence to do in the morning to literally welcome the day and get centered. A great part of sun salutations is that it can be done quickly to break a sweat or be done at a slower pace to feel the stretch.

Different teachers may add their own spin to sun salutations but most can start out in mountain pose before transitioning into a forward fold. From there, a yogi can kick their leg out behind them to be in a plankbefore transitioning into chaturanga, upward dog, and downward dog. The entire sequence opens the body up and can be cathartic for the root chakra.

Knees-to-chest seems like a basic posture but it's underrated at that. While lying on your back, bring both of your knees to your chest.

Grab those knees closer to your chest (almost as if you're hugging yourself) and rock back and forth, up and down, or just simply be. This is a great pose for elimination and is great if you're bloated or having stomach distress. It's also ideal to open up that root chakra as you'll feel centered being "one" with yourself.

Many yoga poses start out in child's pose and it's easy to see why. It's one of those poses that feels incredibly liberating without much work. You can have your arms stretched out in front of you, to the side, or even on the ground next to you.

Take deep breaths and feel the tension in your back and shoulders melt away. If you have your arms stretched out in front of you, you'll feel your shoulders and sides loosen up. Being close to the ground is a wonderful way to be close to the earth, thus benefiting your root chakra.

Garland pose may be difficult for new yogis but with practice comes perfection. If it's too hard to balance with your elbows in between your knees, try placing a pillow beneath you until you gain trust and flexibility with yourself.

The garland pose is a wonderful hip opener and can be an easy gateway to the root chakra. You can feel the benefits in your groin, knees, and even your ankles.

Mountain post is much more than standing. It's a pose that stretches the entire body while also getting morestable in your practice. It's a great pose to start any practice with.

With your big toes together, keep those knees soft and core tight as you center yourself. Make sure you're looking forward with a softened mouth and neck. You'll want to feel completely relaxed. To start off, a person can roll backand forth on their feet and bring their arms over their head to feel completely intuned to the earth and that root chakra.

Another way to become one with yourself and open up that root chakra is a wide-legged stretch while in a forward fold. Instead of doing a forward fold with your legs close together, you're actually going separate them while bending at the hips and bringing your head as close as you can to the ground.

A yogi can grab their feet, ankles, or a block to focus on balance. Holding this pose for 15 to 30 seconds can do wonders for a person's mood, muscles, and yes, the root chakra!
