The annual Chitrapournami festival and Bhagavatha Saptaha Yajnom at the Vijayananda Ashram at Nalkalickal, near Aranmula, will be celebrated from April 25 to May 3.

In a statement issued here on Wednesday, Swami Vijayabhaskarananda, Ashram head, said that the festival would begin with a Maha Ganapathi homom on April 25.

Swami Vijayabhaskarananda would light the ceremonial lamp at 6.30 p.m. on April 24.

Swami Ambikananda of Abheda Ashram in Thiruvananthapuram would be the Yajnacharya. The Yajnom would come to a close with the ritualistic holy dip (Avabhritha-snanom) in the Pampa on May 1.

On May 3

The annual Chitrapournami festival would be celebrated on May 3. A dawn-to-dusk Bhagavathom recital would come to a close with the Pournami-puja followed by Mangalarati, the Swami said.
