Ever since the use of recreational cannabis became legalized in Connecticut for folks 21 and older back in July of 2021, April 20th has had a bit of a different meaning. The wide-spread acceptance of the drug and the straying away of decades-old taboos has enabled it to become more visible in our societys culture. To celebrate 4/20, the folks at Park City Music Hall in Bridgeport are teaming up with local business Affinity Dispensary to put on a festival called Spark City 420 Fest. It promises to transform the venue into a highly entertaining hub with three stages and a whole days worth of activities.

Starting at noon and going on until midnight, Spark City has a lot to offer with a variety of bands playing covers by established acts along with a few others performing original material. There will also be a menu of cannabis infused cocktails and plenty of delicious eats for folks who have a serious case of the munchies.

We want to have an event for the community that would bring people across the board together, says Park City Music Halls Talent Buyer John Torres. Whether you indulge every day in cannabis products or maybe you dont touch the stuff at all, Spark City has something for you! We wanted to take advantage of all the space that Park City Music Hall has to offer. There will be music and vendors in our backspace, which is typically used for private party rentals or the performing bands friends and family, along with music on the main stage and music at the bar. Besides the music and vendors, well have a themed food & drink menu, crafts, trivia and other activities while starting the day with yoga and somatic breathwork.

Before the event begins, we are gathering with Rocky Progano and Ginger Richardson for a community workout and cold plunge at Jennings Beach in Fairfield, he adds. Doors open at 11:30am and we will have music going late with bands like Garden Grove, which is a Sublime tribute act, and jam metal luminaries Leon Trout. With Affinity Dispensary graciously sponsoring the event, weve been able to make the daytime piece of the event free. Come by and check us out!

Hailing from Boston, Leon Trout has been ripping up the scene around New England and beyond with their electrifying sound. Theyve played at Park City Music Hall before and theyre very much looking forward to making their return for this unique extravaganza.

Returning to Park City Music Hall in Bridgeport on April 20th is very exciting for us, Leon Trout guitarist Aaron Cram says about Spark City. Its one of our favorite venues down in Connecticut. We played here before when it was known as The Acoustic, and again when we opened for [the Denver psych-rock fusion trio] Cycles back in November of 2022. The venue has great production, sound, and they know how to treat artists with compassion. The last time we were there we were so impressed with how everything was managed.

On top of that, this is our first time headlining an event at Park City which makes this a checkpoint for us, he adds. We have been working hard to expand our horizons, especially for this current year, which is why we have named our current tour the Horizons Tour. Weve been slightly absent from the Connecticut scene until recently when we played a show at Stella Blues in New Haven, and then again on New Years Eve when we played at a sold out Arch Street Tavern show opening up for Consider the Source. As a side note, Ill be turning 30 on 4/20, so our performance at Spark City will be an extra special birthday celebration. We are honored to have been invited back to this venue for Spark City and to be placed in such a great spot in this full day of music and festivities, we are counting down the minutes!
