On May 30, vegan boutique bakery Plantiful Kitchen will open in Carlsbad, CA. The bakery will offer gluten-free and refined sugar-free raw cheesecakes, cheesecake pops, cookies, doughnuts, and housemade bread, along with vegan artisanal cheeses, chocolate, crackers, nut butters, coconut jerky, and ice cream from other local businesses.

I grew up in Germany with an Italian mother and I always loved homemade food. My mom made everything from scratch and feeding us kids healthy nourishing food was very important to her, Barbara Zeiss, Plantiful Kitchen owner and head chef, told VegNews. I guess that made me a health advocate. When I moved to the US in 2016, I felt like there werent enough options for plant-based and healthy eaters in San Diego, and especially North County, Zeiss plans to expand the bakerys product offerings, including new gluten-free breads, and rotate products from local small businesses regularly to keep things interesting. I thought the community needed a store that had great-tasting and healthy plant-based baked goods and also thoughtful options from other small, SoCal-based vendors Ive met over the past few years, Zeiss said.

Plantiful Kitchen will follow COVID-19 rules during its soft opening, allowing limited numbers of people in the store at a time and offering free snacks and drinks if a line develops. The bakery will also offer curbside pickup as well as nationwide shipping for certain products.
