Warriors Kelly Oubre reveals All-Star he draws motivation from on defense, and its not Draymond Green – ClutchPoints

Posted: at 10:57 am

Draymond Green knows that Kelly Oubre has made a living as one of the best perimeter defenders in the NBA. Though the newest Golden State Warriors swingman has slowly grown to being an offensive threat, Oubre has consistently been one of the fiercest backcourt defenders since he entered the NBA in 2016.

On a recent sit-down with Warriors media, the Louisiana native tipped his hat to one of the best two-way players in the league that inspired him to be who he is right now.

One person that I always give credit to is Jrue Holiday, Oubre said (via Warriors Wire). He is a great defender because he knows where to put his body in spots so that he doesnt waste movement. He knows how to get through screens, how to push you through [dribble hand-offs], things like that.

Holiday, whos bringing his talents to Milwaukee Bucks and join the reigning two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, is hands down one of the best in terms of being able to switch it up offensively and defensively. While being a two-time member of the NBA All-Defensive Team, Holiday was averaging 19.7 points per game and 6.8 assists in his last three seasons with the New Orleans Pelicans. Not a bad guy to draw inspiration from for the new member of the Warriors.

For Oubre, hes hoping to do a little of everything as he joins a Warriors squad that has high expectations of him. He was brought in to fill in for Klay Thompson at the starting unit which obviously means he has gigantic shoes to fill. That said, Oubre seems to be locked and ready to roll for Dub Nation. In his second and last season for the Phoenix Suns last year, Oubre was one of the teams main defenders while averaging career highs of 18.7 points per game and a 35.2% shooting clip from distance.

Millions of Americans plan to travel for Christmas and New Year, motivated by lower gas prices due to COVID-19 – MarketWatch

Posted: at 10:57 am

Dr. Anthony Fauci may break with tradition by not spending Christmas with his kids, but millions of Americans arent taking his lead.

Fauci, who is the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, earlier this month revealed to CBS News that he wasnt spending the Christmas holidays with his daughters for the first time in more than 30 years.

His comments came as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warned Americans against traveling for Hanukkah and Christmas amid a surge in COVID-19 cases across the country.

While fewer people are planning to hit the roads or take to the skies in the name of holiday cheer, millions are still planning on traveling. Roughly 84.5 million Americans are expected to travel from Dec. 23 to Jan. 3, according to a report from AAA, which was formerly known as the American Automobile Association. Thats down some 34 million travelers from last year.

The vast majority are planning to drive (81.1 million) rather than fly (2.94 million) or take another form of transit such as bus, train or cruise (480,000), AAA reported.

A separate survey from GasBuddy found that over one third of Americans are planning to travel by car this holiday season though peoples propensity to travel varies regionally. Folks in the Northeast are least likely to hit the road for the holidays, while people in the Rocky Mountain states are most likely to do so.

Many Americans have deeply rooted traditions for the holiday and are unwilling to let them slip away like the rest of the year, Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, said in the report. Were expecting to see heightened driving activity across some of the most hard-hit areas of the coronavirus.

And if Thanksgiving is any indication, these estimates for holiday travel are likely to pan out. Over 4 million people across the country left their homes for Thanksgiving, including more than 1.6 million who traveled out of state, according to data shared with CNN by the nonprofit Center for New Data. Other data suggests that as many as 50 million people visited friends and family for Thanksgiving.

Ironically, those who do decide to take a road trip to close out 2020 will spend less to do so than in years past. GasBuddy projects that the average price per gallon of gas this holiday season will be $2.19, which is the lowest since 2015. Gas prices have fallen in the face of the reduction in travel and economic complications caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

Were expecting to see heightened driving activity across some of the most hard-hit areas of the coronavirus.

All of the travel associated with the end-of-year holidays are stoking concerns about a surge in COVID-19 cases at a time when case counts nationwide are breaking records.

Over the past week, the U.S. has averaged 210,000 new COVID-19 cases a day, and more than 110,000 COVID patients were in the hospital as of Monday. Since the pandemic began, COVID-19 has contributed to the deaths of more than 303,867 Americans.

The CDC is recommending that those who do travel for the December holidays should get tested for COVID-19 one to three days before their travel, and then tested again three to five days after their return.

Those who dont want to get tested are being advised to avoid nonessential activities for 10 days after their travels. Other health experts have previously recommended self-isolating for as long as possible prior to traveling and still engaging in safety protocols when visiting loved ones such as social distancing and mask wearing.

And its worth remembering that you can test negative for COVID-19 and still be infected and contagious, given the 2 to 14-day incubation period for the virus. Anyone who has come into contact with someone infected with the novel coronavirus is asked to quarantine for 10 days, or seven days after a negative COVID-test.

Sometimes, following a leader makes the best investment strategy. And corporate insiders have long been popular leaders to follow. Their combination of responsibility to their stockholders and access to under the hood information on their companies gives their personal investment choices an air of authority. The most important thing about these insiders is that whatever else they do, they are expected to shepherd their companies to profitability. Shareholders want a return on investment, Boards of Directors want accountability, and company officers are held to both standards. So, when they start buying up their own companys stock, its a sign that investors should investigate further.Government regulators, in an effort to level the informational playing field, have required that insiders regularly publish their stock transactions, making it a simple matter for investors to follow them. Even better, TipRanks collates the information in the Insiders Hot Stocks page, and provide tools and data filters to easily browse through raw data. Weve picked three stocks with recent informative buys to show how the data works for you.Del Taco Restaurants (TACO)Well start with the popular Del Taco, the California-based taco chain. Del Taco boasts a $344 million market cap, over 600 restaurants, and a loyal fan base, giving it a solid foundation in the fast-food franchise market. Most of the companys locations are west of the Mississippi, but the company has been making inroads to the eastern US.Like many brick-and-mortar, traffic-dependent businesses, Del Taco has had a hard year. The coronavirus crisis had dampened traffic, social and economic lockdown policies have reduced income streams. The company has started to recover, however. After heavy net losses early in the year, EPS has returned to positive numbers, and revenue in Q3, $120 million, was up more than 15% sequentially. The share price, which fell by two-thirds at the height of the economic crisis last winter, has regained its losses. TACO is now trading up 17% for the year. The insiders are bullish on the stock. The most recent purchase, helping tip the sentiment needle into positive territory, is from Board member Eileen Aptman, who bought up 88,952 shares, shelling out over $650,000. Wedbush analyst Nick Setyan covers Del Taco, and he rates the shares an Outperform (i.e. Buy). His $13 shows the extent of his confidence, indicating room for 40% upside growth. (To watch Setyans track record click here)Backing his stance, Setyan wrote, We believe TACO's current valuation is predicated on an overly pessimistic assessment of its medium- to long-term fundamentals in a post-COVID QSR environment Even with what we believe are conservative comp, unit growth, and margin assumptions through 2022, we estimate 12% EPS growth in 2022. We estimate 1% of incremental comp would equate to $0.04-0.06 in incremental EPS and every 10 bps of incremental margin equates to $0.01 in incremental EPS in our model.Overall, there is little action on the Street heading Del Taco's way right now, with only one other analyst chiming in with a view on the stock. An additional Hold rating means TACO qualifies as a Moderate Buy. The average price target is $11, and implies a potential upside of ~19%. (See TACO stock analysis on TipRanks)CuriosityStream (CURI)Next up is CuriosityStream, an online video streaming channel in the educational segment. CuriosityStream specializes in factual video content, and offers services by subscription. The channel claims over 13 million subscribers globally. Its founder, John Hendricks, first gained fame creating the Discovery Channel, a similarly themed cable TV channel, in 1985.CuriosityStream is new to the public markets, having IPOd earlier this year through a merger with Software Acquisition, a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) formed as a blank check company to make the deal. Its no surprise to see insiders make large purchases in new stocks, but the moves on CuriosityStream deserve note. John Hendricks made three large purchases earlier this month, buying up blocs of 15,473 shares, 26,000 shares, and 11,684 shares over a four-day period. Hendricks paid $473,561 for the new shares.Covering the stock for B. Riley, analyst Zack Silver wrote, We see CURI as well positioned to capitalize on the burgeoning global streaming market by establishing itself as the go-to factual programmer for the post pay TV era. CURI's subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) service is differentiated not only by the sheer volume of curated factual titles available on the platform but also by its compelling price point we expect that CURIs strategy of monetizing its content through multiple revenue streams will enable a more efficient path to scaleSilver rates the stock a Buy, and his $16 price target implies a 40% one-year upside. (To watch Silvers track record, click here)CURI has a Moderate Buy analyst consensus rating based on 2 recent Buy reviews. The average price target is $14, suggesting this stock has room to grow ~23% from the current trading price of $11.50. (See CURI stock analysis on TipRanks)Allegheny Technologies (ATI)Last but not least is Allegheny Technologies, a metallurgy company based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Allegheny has two business segments: High Performance Materials & Components, which specializes in titanium-based and nickel-based alloys, and Advanced Alloys & Solutions, which includes stainless and specialty steels, electrical steels, duplex alloys, and zirconium, hafnium, and niobium alloys. The companys metal technology is used in the electrical industry, automotive sector, aerospace, and in oil & gas production.Alleghenys revenues and shares are down this year, as the company has been buffeted by the corona crisis. Disruptions in supply chains, distributions networks, and customer orders have all had a negative impact, as have social and economic shutdown policies. Quarterly revenues have fallen by 37%, from $955 million in Q1 to $598 million in the third quarter. Shares are down 21% year-to-date.All of this would seem to make ATI a poor stock choice, but the company has used the time to retrench wisely, and reorient its production models.Benchmark analyst Josh Sullivan pointed this out when he bumped his stance earlier this month from Neutral to Buy. He wrote, We are upgrading ATI to Buy from Hold following the Companys planned exit from commodity stainless. This move alters ATIs historical risk profile by removing the most volatile vertical Parting with ATIs heritage in stainless has been a long sought-after investor goal; exiting now also allows ATI to avoid maintenance and a potential inventory overbuild during the recovery phase. In addition, Sullivan notes that business in the aerospace sector will likely recover soon, providing a boon for Allegheny: with the 737-MAX return to service, Airbus A320 production upward pressure, and vaccines at hand the more focused aerospace ATI core will directly correlate to an aero recovery.Sullivan's Buy rating comes with a $21 price target that implies room for 27% growth over the coming 12 months. (To watch Sullivans track record, click here)Turning to the insider trades, we find that the companys CFO and SVP, Donald Newman, purchased 12,500 shares this month, paying over $210K for the bloc. His total holding is now 80,042 shares, valued at $1.3 million. All in all, Allegheny gets a Moderate Buy consensus rating, based on an even split among 4 reviews, of 2 Buys and 2 Holds. The shares are priced at $16.32 and the $18.25 average price target implies ~12% upside potential.(See ATI stock analysis on TipRanks)To find good ideas for stocks trading at attractive valuations, visit TipRanks Best Stocks to Buy, a newly launched tool that unites all of TipRanks equity insights.Disclaimer: The opinions expressed in this article are solely those of the featured analysts. A 38-year-old man has been charged following yet another hate-motivated attack in Edmonton.

At around 10:10 a.m. Wednesday, police responded to an assault at a residence in the Parkdale neighbourhood in central Edmonton.

Police said in a news release Friday afternoon that a Black man was walking along a residential street near his home when he was approached by a man who was yelling racially-motivated obscenities.

Without being provoked, police said the suspect pushed the man, who then tried to run away. Police allege the suspect was uttering death threats at the man as he chased the complainant into the backyard of the his home and assaulted him.

Beat officers who were in the area saw the chase and drove to the area, where a witness pointed police to the mans home where the suspect was arrested.

EMS treated the 48-year-old man for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Joseph Gladue, 38, is charged with uttering death threats and assault causing bodily harm. The EPS Hate Crimes and Violent Extremism Unit is also recommending that Section 718.2 of the Criminal Code of Canada be applied in this case, which allows the courts to consider increased sentencing when there is evidence the offence was motivated by hatred.

The man who was assaulted and the suspect are not known to each other, according to police.

The EPS said this assault is not connected to two other recent hate-motivated incidents that have taken place in Edmonton in the last 10 days.

The most recent incident took place at the Southgate Transit Centre on Tuesday.Police said a 23-year-old Black woman wearing a hijab entered the southeast doors of the LRT station when she was approached by a woman she didnt know.

Without being provoked, police said the suspect is alleged to have attempted to hit the woman in the head with a shopping bag while yelling racially-motivated obscenities at her.

The victim avoided being struck, police said. She then ran past the woman, as the accused continued to try and thwart her escape, police said in a media release Wednesday morning.

An ETS Transit Peace Officer who was on scene was able to intervene and call police who took the suspect into custody.

Rene Ladouceur, 32, is charged with assault with a weapon and nine outstanding warrants for unrelated events.

The previous Tuesday, Dec. 8, two Somali women wearing hijabs were attacked in the Southgate Centre parking lot. Police said the Hate Crime and Violent Extremism Unit was working with investigators on the case.

These individuals were targeted due to their race, therefore making this a hate-motivated crime, Sgt. Gary Willits of the EPS Hate Crime and Violent Extremism Unit said last week.

Richard Bradley Stevens, 41, of Edmonton, was charged with two counts of assault and one count of mischief in relation to the Dec. 8 attack.

In a post on Facebook, the Alberta Muslim Public Affairs Council said it was deeply concerned about the most recent attack.

We are in contact with the victim and support is being provided to him, read the post.

Again, we request all members of the Edmonton community to be cognizant of your surroundings. If you see an incident, call 911.

Community leaders, police and politicians have condemned the attacks in recent days. On Wednesday, Mayor Don Iveson called the incidents outright unacceptable and downright unEdmontonian.

This type of behaviour is not accepted in our city and its not going to be tolerated, Edmonton police chief Dale McFee said Wednesday, adding the crimes arent reflective of the city.

Ask Amy: Lately, I can’t get motivated to work and am easily angered. What is wrong with me – Omaha World-Herald

Posted: at 10:57 am

Your behavior are all indicators of depression.

You cannot help being depressed, but you must do everything possible to deal with it. See your physician right away and ask for a referral to a therapist.

This might not be the right time for you to be in a relationship, in part because you are acting out in anger, which affects your boyfriend's self-worth, as well as yours.

You acknowledge your negative behavior (good for you), but now you should really commit to working on yourself. With treatment, you will gain insight, strength, and tools to cope.

Dear Amy: Our large family is all grown, with kids in various life and career stages.

Within the limits of our physical and financial ability (and based on their needs), we help our kids as much as we can.

In the last few years we have allowed two of our adult children to live with us on a short-term basis when moving states to take a job or while attending college.

Early this year, our son announced that he and his family would need to move in with us, as he was applying for a new job.

He lives 40 minutes away from us and owns a house. Living with us, his commute to the new job would be shortened from 40 to 10 minutes.

Concern About Loved Ones Might Motivate People to Mask Up and Get Vaccine – YubaNet

Posted: at 10:57 am

ANN ARBOR, MI, December 18, 2020 While many people have listened to messaging about wearing a mask and following social distancing guidelines to limit the spread of COVID-19, resistance remains. A new study finds that appealing to peoples concerns for their loved ones could overcome this resistance. And it may have implications for encouraging people to get the new vaccine.

In a recent survey, people who said social distancing and COVID-safety guidelines violated their personal freedoms responded more positively to these ideas when they felt a loved one might be at risk of severe illness for COVID-19.

Emphasizing the benefits of being a protector for others (instead of yourself) looks to be more effective in promoting greater adherence to recommended practices, says study author Lawrence An, M.D., associate professor of general medicine at Michigan Medicine and co-director of the University of Michigan Rogel Cancer Centers Center for Health Communications Research.

As the coronavirus pandemic continues to ravage the United States, messaging focused on shaming or pressuring people to wear a mask or avoid crowds are backfiring.

People who respond negatively to being told what to do are much less likely by more than 50% to routinely wear a mask. However, at the same time, concern for others increases mask wearing, especially among those who report greater negativity, An says.

An and colleagues surveyed 1,074 people across the United States about their attitudes toward the coronavirus. They discovered two distinct sets of attitudes toward social distancing:

Concern about a loved ones risk of severe COVID-19 infection was tied to both higher positive attitudes and lower negative attitudes toward social distancing. When people considered their own personal risk, they had higher positive attitudes but it did not impact their negative attitudes.

When people think about what protective behaviors to follow, negative beliefs the perception of external control override positive beliefs. This means that simply repeating that people should follow public health guidelines is unlikely to be effective, says study author Kenneth Resnicow, Ph.D., professor of health behavior and health education at the U-M School of Public Health and associate director of community outreach and engagement at the Rogel Cancer Center.

However, our data show that when people consider being a protector for others, they approach risk differently. They are less likely to let their personal beliefs and politics discourage them from practicing COVID protection. Emphasizing the act of protecting others may help people who would otherwise be reluctant to practice COVID protection to feel independent and strong, rather than compliant or obedient, he says.

YubaNet is powered by your subscription

Recognizing that these distinct positive and negative attitudes about social distancing could help shape social distance policies and inform efforts to encourage people to follow them, An and Resnicow teamed up with CULTIQUE, an LA-based firm that advises the entertainment industry on cultural issues, to encourage messaging about protecting loved ones from the coronavirus in content, social media and news.

According to the latest data from the CDC, 40% of the population is considered at increased risk of severe illness from COVID-19. People with chronic health issues are 12 times more likely to die from COVID-19.

For those who are caring for someone with cancer or other conditions, protecting your loved one is critical, An says.

Protectors can take responsibility for monitoring the at-risk persons COVID exposure and protecting them from the disease by limiting the persons exposure to others. This includes doing the shopping, maintaining cleaning protocols and PPE, and providing safe transportation to appointments.

The prospect of losing someone is even more terrible knowing that we could be in the homestretch of this pandemic. With vaccines on the horizon, its more important than ever to follow social distancing measures to help end COVID-19 sooner, Resnicow says.

Jose Aldo motivated by becoming champion again ahead of UFC Vegas 17 with Marlon Vera – Bloody Elbow

Posted: at 10:57 am

Jose Aldo has no shortage of motivation heading into his fight against Marlon Chito Vera in the co-main event of UFC Vegas 17 on Saturday night.

The former featherweight champion may be on a career-worst three-fight losing streak, but they have come against notable names in both the bantamweight and featherweight divisions. Despite starting 2019 off with a win over Renato Moicano at UFC Fight Night: Assuncao vs. Moraes 2, Aldo came up short against Alexander Volkanovski by unanimous decision at UFC 237.

Aldo then moved on from the featherweight division and dropped down to bantamweight, but has yet to find success. He lost a controversial split decision to Marlon Moraes at UFC 245, but was still given a championship opportunity in his next fightat UFC 251 against Petr Yanwho would ultimately finish Aldo by strikes in the fifth round.

Although the back-to-back losses seemingly put Aldo in a must-win situation, the Brazilian remains unworried by the possibility of losing again. He also still has title aspirations in the bantamweight division in spite of those previous defeats.

Im not feeling any pressure because I always fight with great fighters, Aldo told reporters during his media day scrum on Thursday. I just keep training hard and preparing for my new opponent. Thats it. Im not feeling any pressure.

What keeps me motivated is the victory. Im training hard because I want to be a champion in my new division. Thats my motivator every day.

In the face of these losses, questions have come up regarding the future of the 34-year-old in the UFC and mixed martial arts in general. Aldo said that the answers to those questions are the furthest thing from his mind right now because he is solely focused on his upcoming opponent in Vera.

Vera recently returned to the win column with a technical knockout over fast-rising sensation Sean OMalley at UFC 252 earlier this year. From this performance alone, Aldo knows the kind of threat Vera poses, so he would rather spend his time thinking about what he needs to do to get a win right now as opposed to what the future holds.

I always keep my career step by step. Now I just think about Marlon Vera and after Marlon Vera, I can think of the future, but not right now. I just want to think and talk about Marlon Chito Vera.

Declan Murphy on PSMA Molecules and the Motivation Behind the proPSMA Trial – Cancer Network

Posted: at 10:57 am

Declan Murphy discusses the motivation behind the proPSMA study and the emerging history of PSMA PET/CT to challenge conventional imaging at the 2020 SUO Meeting.

Transcription:

So PSMA as a molecule has been of interest for many years really because we know that its overexpressed in aggressive cancer especially castration-resistant prostate cancer. But what weve only had in the past 5 or 6 years is imaging agents which are useful to identify this overexpression of PSMA. The real breakthrough came 6 or 7 years ago when some German groups created small molecule ligands that can be used in a PET scanner to identify PSMA in a really quite striking, sensitive and specific manner.

These compounds came out of Germany in 2012/2013 and in Australia we had developed a program already with widespread use of PSMA all around the country really from 2014 onwards. We were beginning to see these striking images and it became very apparent that PSMA PET/CT was an obvious challenger to conventional imaging for staging newly diagnosed prostate cancer and also recurrent prostate cancer and so on. So, in 2017 we set up a prospective randomized trial called the proPSMA trial to compare conventional imaging with PSMA PET/CT for staging newly diagnosed, high-risk or unfavorable intermediate risk prostate cancer.

Money will lone motivating factor for NFL owners when it comes to schedule changes – Arrowhead Addict

Eric Fisher appreciation should only grow after Chiefs 2020 season by Matt Conner

Former Chiefs quarterback Jordan Taamu signs with Detroit Lions by Matt Conner

When the National Football League and its Players Association reached a deal for a new collective bargaining agreement last March, one of the concessions from players was that the leagues owners would get to install a 17th regular season game on the schedule at some point in the next year to three yearsfrom 2021 to 2023that is, if they wanted.

You can rest assured that, yes, NFL owners want it. And they will install it sooner than later.

NFL owners are set to have some virtual meetings on Wednesday to discuss the 17th game idea along with other needs, including COVID-19 protocols, coaching diversity and more, according to Judy Battista. While no one is quite sure when an official vote will take place on the addition of another regular season game, it stands to reason that itwill happen and its only a matter of time. Wait, lets clarify that: its a matter of the shortest possible amount of time.

Its been noted that the 17th game inclusion in the collective bargaining agreement is merely an option for ownersone they do not necessarily have to exercise. However if you think a group of billionaires who have the chance to add another week of revenues from parking and concessions, media and merchandise, then youre an ostrich with your head in the sand.

Throughout the course of the day, owners might leak reports from their virtual meetings to the press about their concern for player safety and the rigors of the 17-game season, but just know these are businesspersons first and foremost. And like any other enterprise, any social benefit is the cherry on top. The primary concern is the almighty dollar.

Why would the players even budge on this issue? Well, they were able to secure significantly more money for themselves. There are more jobs than ever thanks to expanded rosters and practice squads. Minimum salaries were increased, and the players overall revenue share is higher as well. There are myriad other concessions on the part of owners, but much of that was in exchange for the task of playing 17 regular season games instead of 16.

It would be a major upset if it didnt happen as soon as next year.

You might hear that owners are waffling on the decision or trying to take other perspectives into account, but if the paperwork states that they can add another full week of regular season revenue to the books as soon as 2021, then every NFL owner is going to vote for that to happen. They arent going to delay a year of opportunity, and theycertainly arent going to decide against the option. Its exactly what they pushed so hard for.

There can be positives and negatives here for a 17-game season, especially if it gets rid of some preseason games on a permanent basis. But no matter what you believe about it, for better or worse, you can know its coming and its coming in a matter of months.
