In an interview with Rolling Stone published Monday, the 55-year-old singer-songwriter said a song from her latest album titled Heartbeat Away in which a president launches nuclear weapons was written before Trump received the Republican nomination.
My sleep has been disturbed. My insides are ridden with unease, Crow told the outlet. I wrote that song before Trump got the nomination it already felt apocalyptic that people were entertaining the idea of making a man like that the most powerful person in the world.
Heartbeat Away is a track on Crows latest studio album, Be Myself, which was released April 21. The lyrics of the song include references to the unnamed presidents possible connections to Russia, including a reference to Russia blowing up the phone.
I had to go into deep meditation and find a way to have compassion for the people of this country that are hurting and believe [Trump] cares about them, the nine-time Grammy-winnertold Rolling Stone. Im worried, but my meditation teacher said something fascinating. Her phrase was, This is the way forward.'
In her interview, Crow also opened up about her battle with brain cancer and how it felt to have been embraced by some of her musical idols through her decades-long career in the music industry.
My idea for music was that I didnt want to be great. I wanted to be important, she explained. I wanted to write important music, and so, when you start having a music career and youre certainly not one of the cool kids, but youre embraced by the older class I was just like, Wow, I cant believe these people know me. As hokey as it might sound, I still feel really humbled by that.
Crow has previously spoken out about her dislike of Trump.
Inan October appearance on The View, the singer said she doesnt let her children watch television when Trump is on screen.
I want to be able to say to my kids, being the president of the United States is the most honorable position and it needs to go back to that and we need to change the dialogue, she said at the time.

Meditation That Works for Anyone – Entrepreneur

She was the fairy godmother of style makeovers and then she gave a makeover to meditation.
Suze Yalof Schwartz did style makeovers for everyone who was anyone (and everyone in between) for over 14 years. She worked at all the big fashion magazines. She lived in New York City and traveled the world doing what she loved.
But then she and her family got an opportunity to uproot their big city lifestyle and move to Southern California for a change of pace and some space. And they took it.
What Suze couldnt have anticipated was the introduction she would get to a whole new way of thinking.
It didnt happen overnight, but once Suze found out what meditation was, she was hooked.
After trying to find where she could go to practice, she realized there was something missing in the modern world of meditation --a studio space with daily classes. So she created it.
Fast forward a few short years and Suzes dry bar of meditation studio, Unplug, is a wildly successful and hugely popular one-of-a-kind space in Los Angeles.
Its been featured in all the big press and has a line of people waiting for every class -- and shes just getting started.
But the core of Suzes success is not her awesome connections to teachers or the press, its her core conviction of the power of meditation for anyone, at any time, anywhere.
We discuss the simple truths of how to meditate (no matter who you are) inEpisode 473.

Meditation for Beginners: 13 Practical Tips to Easily Build the Meditation Habit – PakWired (press release) (blog)
Posted: at 1:43 pm
Learning to meditate is the best thing I ever did for myself. I used to be at the mercy of my mind. It was impossible to focus for more than ten seconds at a time. Distracted was my natural state of being. Meditation taught me how to control my consciousness, which made a huge impact on my quality of life. Want to accomplish the same thing? Follow these thirteen meditation tips and tricks for beginners.
Meditation is not a competitive event. You wont get a trophy for meditating all day. Meditate for a minute. If you can do that everyday for a week, meditate for two minutes the next week. Repeat this process for as long as you like.
Its easy to have aspirations. Its hard to act on them. Dont just say, Ill meditate everyday. Youll get busy and forget. Set-up an alarm in your phone. When that alarm goes off, meditate right away.
Meditate at the same time consistently. Mornings might be best. Its easier to make time for meditation before your day gets crazy (and youll go to work with a calm, focused state of mind).
Sit outside and listen to the birds sing. Closeyour bedroom door and turn on classical music. Meditate in a quiet place where you wont be disturbed. The less noisy distractions, the better!
Texts can wait. Emails can wait. Social media notifications can wait. None of this stuff is so importantthat it needs to be answered immediately. Leave your phone in a different room.
You dont have to sit cross-legged. You dont need a special cushion. You can sit on a chair, bed, sofa, pillow, rock, or whatever. As long as youre not slouching, the specifics dont matter.
How do you feel (physically and mentally)? Dont over-analyze it. Trust your intuition. Dont judge any thoughts or feelings as good or bad. Accept them as they are. Everything is okay.
Paint a mental picture of a surfer riding a giant wave. If he loses focus for one second, hell fall. Ride your inhales and exhales with the same level of concentration. Be one with your breath.
On every inhale, say: One, I am breathing in. On every exhale, say: Two, I am breathing out. (Dont literally say it think it to yourself.) After you reach ten, go back to one anddo it again.
Breathe in through your nose. Follow your breath as it travels to your belly, lungs, and chest. Feel the sensation of air filling up those areas. In what order do those body parts rise and fall?
Dont get upset when your focus wavers. It happens to everybody. If your mind goes elsewhere, go back to one and start counting again. Its a meditationpractice (not a meditationperfect).
You are not your thoughts. Do not identify with them. Perceive them with love and compassion, not fear and judgment. As you continue to meditate, your thoughts will have less power over you.
Are you less reactive during times of stress? Were you able to stay calm when a client got angry? Do you find it easier to focus on your work or studies? Appreciate these benefits as they arise. This will motivate you to stick with your meditation practice.

Osho ashram stint was turning point for Vinod Khanna – Times of India
Posted: at 1:41 pm
PUNE: Vinod Khanna's two-year stint at Pune's Osho International Meditation Resort, colloquially known as the Osho ashram, was a turning point in the actor's life.
That was when Khanna, who was at the pinnacle of stardom, decided to quit the film industry out of love for his guru, Osho.
The ashram's spokesperson Ma Amrit Sadhana shared a few fond memories of the actor with TOI. She recalled an interview she did with Khanna, when she was a young disciple herself.
Describing him as a friendly and simple man with a penchant for meditation, Sadhana said: "He was good-natured and a deep meditator. I once had the opportunity to interview him for the April 1994 issue of Osho Times. He talked at length on the subject of spirituality, life and death," she said.
"I asked him about his tryst with Osho and how old he was then," Sadhana said. "He said that he was just 25-26 years old when he started listening to Osho's discourses., back in 1974. He told me Osho's words had introduced him to an eternal truth: death. He said that four of his relatives had recently passed away, including his mother and sister, which had shaken him to his very foundations. One thought that went through his head was, 'I too will die one day, but I do not know anything about my real self'."
Thus began Khanna's spiritual awakening. He decided to pay Osho a personal visit, after which he was initiated as a disciple. He was christened Swami Vinod Bharti.
"Vinod was very unpretentious," Sadhana said. "He would work and meditate with us. He stayed at the resort for a couple of years after which he went to the US with Osho. They stayed in Rajneeshpuram, a commune that Osho had built in America. After two years, the guru-disciple duo returned to India. While Osho returned to Pune, Vinod went back to his family in Mumbai. But he remained Osho's disciple. Being a disciple does not mean one has to forsake one's family and friends," she said.

I just enjoy coming out and we have Bingo after class on Mondays.
Senior citizens classes (age 50 and up) are held from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday through Thursday with Wednesday class devoted to stretching. The seniors not only enjoy a good workout, theyre treated special.
Sometimes we have movie night, sometimes we take them to the mall, said Watson. But thats not all.
Once a year they get together and go on a bus tour or a cruise. Weve been to Jamaica, weve been to Mexico. We went to Pennsylvania to the Sight and Sound Theater. Theyve been all over.
Watson said she wants to expand her instruction. I want to do yoga but I want to spice it up because we do things in the morning, she said. We call it yoga flavor because I stretch them and I make them move. I like to add my own little touches. Whats even sweeter, all the classes are free.

Aerobics Vs Zumba! This workout will burn more calories – Businessinsider India
Posted: at 1:40 pm
Aerobics and Zumba, both are popular choices among people who want to stay fit and lose weight.
Even though both can be dubbed as high intensity work outs, there has been a debate over which exercise form helps in losing weight and shedding calories faster.
While some feel aerobics involves lot of movements and helps in getting rid of the stubborn fat, many people vouch for zumba as it also strengthens the core.
Traditional workouts can get a bit mundane and repetitive, and there hasn't really been an alternative that is both fun as well as a big calorie-burner. That's where zumba comes in. The Latin-dance inspired group workout has been embraced by 12 million people in 125 countries and has been taken very well by Indians. It keeps you active and burns calories quite effectively as compared to other forms of workouts, said Gurgaon-based fitness expert Shalini Gulati.
However, fitness experts say aerobics gives more strength and has lots of cardio involved. The music is more of a fast beats which does not involve a high low beat its steady fast beat.

Progressland Person of the Week: Tubbs takes her music to a new level – Clearfield Progress
Posted: May 1, 2017 at 2:46 am
GRAMPIAN Ever since she was a little girl, Curwensville High School senior and Grampian native Chloe Tubbs has been involved with music.
Most recently, she was awarded first chair in the state for the contra alto clarinet. Tubbs said she won first chair at the local level, which let her move on to Erie from April 20-23.
This is actually my second year for state band, Tubbs said. And last year, I got second chair ... Its a good experience to be (playing) with a bunch of talented people.
Tubbs has been playing the contra alto clarinet for Curwensville for the past three years now. She started out on clarinet but then moved to the contra alto clarinet. Overall for Curwensville, shes been in band since the fourth grade, stating all those years of practice have paid off.
Practicing is the most important part, Tubbs said. If you take the time to do that, you can achieve whatever you want. Dont get down on yourself if youre frustrated with something.
So what does Tubbs enjoy about music the most?
Its relaxing, Tubbs said. It takes time out of my day to do something that I enjoy.
Tubbs enjoys it so much, in fact, that she will be attending IUP in the fall and majoring in music education. One of her influences in deciding on a career path of teaching music is current Curwensville music teacher Cindy Penvose.
Shes so smart and shes so good at what she does, Tubbs said of her teacher. I just want to do the things that she did for me and help other people.
Tubbs couldnt say enough about the Curwensville music program in helping her reach her goals.
Even though we have such a small school, we have such a good music program, Tubbs said. Mrs. Penvose, especially, she cares so much about what she does. And our choral director, Miss (Judy) Bungo, shes really good at what she does and is very passionate. And Mr. (Robert) Pennington, who is our elementary band teacher now, is also our band director. Hes really good at getting kids involved into music at a young age. I think its really important to start at a young age.
Tubbs also said her family is full of musicians.
My family is very music-oriented, Tubbs said. Everyone in my family plays instruments, so its something that I grew up with.
Her family has been playing songs in church together since she was a child, and each of her grandparents were also very musically oriented.
Outside of music, Tubbs is extremely busy. She played soccer for all four years of her high school career and is in her second season on the softball team. She also is part of the schools Drama Club, recently having a lead role in Godspell.
The last couple months have kind of been crazy, Tubbs said of her schedule.

Organic farm hosts event to educate about local food – KRCRTV.COM

Organic farm hosts event to educate...
RED BLUFF, Calif. - The Red Gate Ranch in Red Bluff held its 3rd Spring Fling Sunday.
The ranch is an 110-acre farm that grows herbs, produce and raises farm animals. The focus at the Red Gate Ranch is to be all organic.
This year, over 120 people stopped by not only for the farmers market portion of the Spring Fling but also for the educational aspects. The guests were able to pet the goats and horses and well as get a tour of the ranch. A weed expert offered a "weed walk" to guide people on which type of weeds are edible.
The goal of the event was to show people the varieties and options for local food with the hope of educating people on finding true organic.
Audrey Pascone, one of the farmers at the Red Gate Ranch said just because the label reads organic doesn't necessarily mean you are getting full organic.
"Let's just use pork as an example, at this point. You go buy organic pork. What you are getting mostly is a product or a meat that was raised with organic feed so that animal was likely still raised on a cement slab in a confined situation and was fed antibiotics, muscle enhancer even and all sorts of things to be able to keep an animal as healthy as they can be in a closed space," Pascone said.
Heather Isbell, the farmer who lives and works on the ranch with her husband, said the best way to avoid this is to meet your local farmers at events like this one.
"I'd like people to know to find their local farmers, even if it's not us, and go visit," Isbell said. "To see what they are doing and see what they are growing and how they are doing it so you have that transparency and that knowledge of what they are doing and also to get to know them and have community."
Isbell and Pasconehave been best friends for twenty years. They went to the California School of Herbal Studies and then moved to Red Bluff to make their dreams realities.
The Red Gate Ranch goes to the Chico and Red Bluff farmers markets every week and they sell their products at Country Organics in Redding.
Pasconesaid the mission is to help people understand the availability of local food.
"We are hoping that we can kinda educate people and also provide them with resources where they can find this really good food that's right in our backyards," Pascone said. "Whether it's the wild weeds growing or the farmer down the street that people didn't even realize was there."
