Jim Gaffigan Got Free McDonalds for Everyone at His Show

We're torn on how to feel about this.

That McDonald's "Pay with Lovin'" promotion didn't exactly roll out the way the chain probably hoped given that stories quickly emerged from customers who mostly just felt humiliated when asked to "pay" for their meals by doing things like dancing or calling their parents. Of course, Jim Gaffigan realized quickly that there was some fodder there for a nice little Twitter joke.

But where Gaffigan saw fear, McDonald's saw opportunity.

So despite the fact that the promotion officially ended on Valentine's Day, the comic, Dad Is Fat author, and junk-food connoisseur "paid" with exercise as part of his show at the University of Kentucky over the weekend. If anything, it was a great way for Gaffigan to get the crowd on his side, since it meant McDonald's handed out fries and McGriddles to the entire audience, which now may be the largest, or only, group of people yet to actually be happy about this promotion.

Normally, it would be disappointing to see a comic as beloved as Gaffigan side with a chain as reviled as McDonald's, but to be fair, he's not a fast-food apologist so much as he is a regretful consumer. "We know those commercials aren't realistic," he said in a nine-minute segment during his "Mr. Universe" tour. "I'd just like to see one commercial that showed people five minutes after that ate McDonald's Uuggh. Now I need a cigarette":

Experience Excercise To Curb Teenage Pregnancy

Posted: February 14, 2015 at 8:45 am

The sound of infants crying seemed to overwhelm a group of teenagers as they tried to quell the cries by attempting to find the reason. The crying infants were baby simulation dolls presented by the Rotary Club of Tortola to Fourth Form students of the St Georges Secondary School, on 11 February as part of the Baby Think It Over Experience.

The Experience which was launched at the School in conjunction with the Rotary Club is organized as a means of encouraging teens to make responsible choices and provide an understanding of parenting.

President of the Rotary Club of Tortola, Henry Creque explained that the primary focus of the Experience is teenage pregnancy prevention. He said that the program did not require a new curriculum, as it was seamlessly included as a practical component in the present curriculum.

PTA President and program initiator, Mrs. Karia Christopher said that the Baby Think it Over Experience is in line with the Schools 10th year anniversaryactivities and serves as a teenage pregnancy deterrent. Mrs. Christopher said that even though the school is Christian based they are not with their heads in the clouds. She announced that the program will roll out in other schools. Acting Principal Ms. Faith-Anne Adams said that the assimilation activity will give the students real life experiences in a controlled environment. She said that most of the students are excited about the program. The Principal also disclosed that some of the students are frightened out of their mind.

I know that from this they will make positive decisionsI like this kind of task, because hands on and learning last a lifetime, the Principal added. It was indicated that many of the male students were afraid to participate. In fact only one male student participated.

The entire program spans three weeks. After that period the babies will generate a response as to how attentive the parents were. Parents were required to give approval for their child to participate. Each student will have the baby for two days and two nights.

Is your dog getting enough exercise?

Cleverly, it can also be used to set up safe zones and set off an alarm if your dog wanders outside them. Trace the outline of your garden, for instance, and your smartphone will alert you if your dog manages to burrow under the fence and go exploring and tell you exactly where he is on a map.

John Wisbey, co-founder of the firm behind the product, RDTP, told the Telegraph: We see so many unfit and troubled dogs every day and wanted to do something about it.

The company hopes to have the devices on sale by the summer. The Seedrs campaign has already raised 38,000 of the 100,000 needed.

But other similar devices are already on the market.

The FitBark is a small bone-shaped device which clips onto your dogs existing collar, and comes in five colours for $99. At just eight grams its unlikely to hold your dog back and is waterproof so wont go haywire if you take your dog to the beach.

The device syncs with a smartphone but you can also buy an optional $79 Wi-Fi base station that will send data directly to FitBarks servers even if you and your phone are not at home.

Unlike the Dog Tracker Nano the FitBark works on motion sensing only, and not GPS, but is likely to be much cheaper.

And the industry is much bigger than those two products alone. Another firm, Whistle, raised $15m in funding earlier this month on top of a previous round of $10m for its health tracker for dogs.

At the same time it said that it had bought out Snaptracs, a spin-off from computer chip maker Qualcomm, which sells a tracker called Tagg with built-in GPS so you can see exactly where your dog ran.

For those with a higher budget there is also Voyce, which costs $300 but also offers heart rate and respiratory tracking for your dog.
