Tamara Veitch, a former Mission resident, is coming back to the district Saturday for a book signing.

The authors of a popular book that has been optioned for a Hollywood movie will be in Mission this Saturday.

For co-author Tamara Veitch, stopping at Black Bond Books is truly a visit home.

She grew up in Mission and graduated from Mission Secondary School, and still has strong family connections to the district.

Mission was a great place to grow up, said Veitch, whose brother still lives here.

Veitch and her partner Rene DeFazio currently live in South Surrey, and have been shopping around One Great Year for several months.

Described as an adventure in the same vein as Indiana Jones, with the spiritual introspection of an Eckhart Tolle novel, the story features Marcus, who has a past life memory as he has been reincarnated many times, and Theron his true love doesnt. The book is set in ancient times through to modern, travelling from the ruins of Tiwanaku, Bolivia to the Pyramids of Giza, through the Great Year Cycle described by Plato in ancient Greece and to current discoveries in quantum mechanics.

According to Veitch, the book has received an honorable mention at both the London and New York book festivals, and it was featured at the Oscars this year.

Veitch and DeFazio will be at Black Bond Books, located in the Junction Mall, from noon until 4 p.m. June 14. For more information visit onegreatyear.com.

Earlier this year, Katy Perry separated from her on-again-off-again boyfriend John Mayer.

During a recent interview with Chelsea Handler, for the July issue of Cosmopolitan magazine, the pop superstar finally opened up about the split and revealed there are no hard feelings.

Sometimes you have to go through all this sh*t to get your grips on life. You have to go through the mud in order to find that peaceful place, Perry told Handler.

Katy explained that she doesnt harbor any resentment for John and still respects him and his music. I know it sounds really hippie sh*t, but Im living in the now and not fantasizing about the future or [being] torn up about the past. Im super Eckhart Tolle. I have a lot of respect for [John] still, and I know it goes both ways, she said. Theres no bad blood, but Im sure there will be inspired songs.

Perry was previously married to Russell Brand, but their marriage ended in 2012, after only 14 months. Although, she has had to failed relationships in two years, Katy still remains hopeful that she will find the right guy for her; a guy that will love her for who she is. I guess I happen to be attracted to high-frequency men, she joked.

I like when I can really be myself, wear less makeup, have off-color humor right off the bat, she revealed. When I can scare them with the truth and theyre not scared. I think when Im myself is when Im probably the most attractive to someone else.

Katy Perry's love life is only second to Taylor Swift's, and much like Swift, Perry isn't afraid to talk about it.

"I guess I happen to be attracted to high-frequency men," Perry jokes about her inability to find long-term love in the new issue ofCosmopolitan(as reported byE!).

Regarding her divorce fromRussell Brandafter 14 months of marriage, Perry said she learned a lot. "It feels like a hundred lifetimes ago, so it's like digging up an old grave. A lot of therapy has happened and a lot of understanding and growth," she explained. "Sometimes you have to go through all this to get your grips on life and figure out what the next boundaries in your love life are going to be. You have to go through the mud in order to find that peaceful place. In the long run, it was necessary for me to have more of a teammate."

When asked whether she'll get back with on-and-off again beauJohn Mayer, from whom she split earlier this year, Perry says that's the farthest thing from her mind. However, Perry says she's not likely to stay single for long, revealing that the longest she's gone without sex is "maybe six months or a year" and that she isn't into one-night stands. "I carry a lot of rose quartz, which attracts the male," the singer said.

LOS ANGELES, June 6 (UPI) --Katy Perry has been unlucky in love, but she isn't ready to give up just yet.

The 29-year-old singer covers the July issue of Cosmopolitan, and opens up to Chelsea Handler in the interview about her relationships with exes Russell Brand and John Mayer. Perry was married to Brand from October 2010 to July 2012, and had an on-again, off-again relationship with Mayer from August 2012 to February 2014.

"Sometimes you have to go through all this [expletive] to get your grips on life and figure out what the next boundaries in your love life are going to be," she continues. As for ex-boyfriend Mayer, Perry says there are no hard feelings.
