31-year-old falls to death in attempt to escape fire at Sakar 7 on Ashram Road; another fire incident recorded at Shivranjani crossroads

By Asik Banerjee & Ancela Jamindar

After the accident, Mirror spoke to Thakkar, Jaydeep came to my office at around 3 pm. While we were leaving, I asked him to wait for me to close the main door. That is when smoke started coming from downstairs and filled the whole passage. I went back into my office, shouting to Jaydeep to follow me. But there was no response. I then opened a window, and came down using the fire stairs.

Thakkar said he saw a few people standing on a narrow platform just outside the window of the alley on the fourth floor and his friend Jaydeep lying on the ground. He said, Due to smoke, the window panes on the fourth floor were broken and everyone escaped to safety. But I am not sure how Jaydeep fell. He was brought to LG Hospital in an ambulance, where he was declared dead by doctors.

This was a minor incident, but panic spread and people stayed back in their offices even though they could have come down to safety from another staircase. All the fire equipment in the building were in working condition, but lack of fire awareness meant none of the people present could not use those. It is necessary that more fire drills take place, so that people know how to use the basic fire equipment.

Fire in Shivranjani

Another fire incident scared citizens on Friday. The incident occurred at the first floor of Amar Complex near Shivranjani crossroads. The floor housed the office of ICICI securities, where a fire started from the AC duct when repair work was on. While no casualty was reported, furniture and documents were destroyed in the fire.

Mumbai, Jun 1 (PTI) The Maharashtra tribal welfare department has temporarily stayed admission of adivasi students in reputed English medium schools in Class 1 as part of economic austerity measures undertaken in view of the coronavirus pandemic, Minister K C Padvi said on Monday.

Under a government scheme, adivasi students get admission in reputed English medium schools in Class 1 and their education till Class 12 is funded by the state.

Addressing an online press conference, Tribal Welfare Minister Padvi said 50,269 adivasi students, currently studying in Classes 2 to 12, will not lose out academically due to the decision and those already admitted in reputed schools will continue their education.

Students who have applied for admissions in Class 1 in English medium schools will now be accommodated in English and semi-English schools affiliated to the tribal welfare department, he said.

He said the decision to stop admission of tribal students in reputed English medium schools in Class 1 this year is temporary and taken as part of economic austerity measures in view of the coronavirus pandemic.

The minister said, "Tribal students in English medium schools will continue with their education. Once the COVID-19 situation improves and schoolsreopen, the government would revise its decision and enrol tribal students in reputed English medium schools."

Padvi said 71 per cent of the budgetary allocation of the tribal welfare development is spent on education.

"To ensure tribal students get good education in English, new 52 English and semi-English schools are being started.

"Qualified teachers are being hired and tribal students will not suffer academically. As many as 1,560 students will be enrolled in these schools," Padvi said.

The minister said his department ensures good education to tribal children through government ashram (residential) schools, state-aided ashram schools and Eklavya residential public schools, among others.

The department is working on starting English medium curriculum in ashram schools, he said.

The minister said there are 25 Eklavya residential public schools in the state where 5,357 students are getting education from Std 2nd to 12th.

Yogi who claimed to have survived without food, water for 76 years dies – The Tribune India

Ahmedabad, May 26

Prahlad Jani alias Chunriwala Mataji, a breatharian Yogi who claimed to have survived without food or water for over 70 years, died on Tuesday morning in Gujarat's Gandhinagar district, his disciples said.

He was 90.

Jani breathed his last at his native village Charada, a statement said.

He had a big following in Gujarat.

Jani's claims of surviving without food or water were tested in 2003 and 2010 by scientists.

He used to claim that he didn't need food or water because goddess sustained him.

Meanwhile, Jani's body has been taken to his humble ashram-cum-cave situated near Ambaji temple in Banaskantha district.

"Mataji was shifted to Charada a few days back after he expressed his will to spend some time at his native place. He breathed his last early today morning. His body will be kept at his Ashram for two days to enable his devotees to pay homage. He will be given 'Samadhi' at his ashram on Thursday," said the statement issued by his disciples.

Being a devout believer of goddess Amba, he used to wear a red saari (chunri) all the time and dress like a woman, because of which, he was known as Chunriwala Mataji.

Jani claimed to have spent 76 years of his life without consuming food or water.

Jani had left his parent's house at a very young age in pursuit of 'spiritual experience' .

His followers claimed that he had stopped taking food and water at the age of 14.

Jani made a small cave located near Ambaji temple his home at young age and subsequently gained popularity as a Yogi who survived only on air.

In 2010, scientists and doctors associated with the Defence Institute of Physiology and Allied Sciences (DIPAS) under the Defence Research and Development Organisation had conducted a 15-day observational study on Jani to find out how he was living without food or water.

The DIPAS later stated that Jani had "some extreme form of adaptation to starvation and water restrictions". PTI

Pentecost Tongues of Fire – The Free Weekly

Posted: at 8:50 am

Gemini is the definitive sign of communication. Gemini radiates Ray 2 of Love/Wisdom into the world. When we communicate with each other, when we understand each other via our open truthful communication, love appears, and wisdom, too.

Pentecost is a religious festival, signifying fifty days after Easter (Resurrection Festival) wherein Disciples, having gathered in an upper room (mental plane), experienced tongues of fire appearing above their heads, the result of which was the ability to speak and understand all world languages. This experience was a Ray 3 experience of Divine Intelligence penetrating the minds of the disciples. Ray 3 is called by many namesthe Holy Spirit, the Comforter and the Mother. The Tibetan (via Alice Bailey) refers to Pentecost many times in his blue books (Ageless Wisdom teachings).

The emphasis during the Aquarian Age, which we are fast entering, will shift away from Bethlehem (Birth Initiation) to Jerusalem (Ashram of Peace), and from the infant and later crucified Savior to the Risen Christ (note: Christ symbolizes the Soul of humanity). Pisces has seen, during two thousand years, the spreading light; Aquarius will see the Rising Light, and of both of these the Christ (World Teacher) is the eternal symbol.

The emphasis in the Aquarian Age will be on livingness, on freedom from the tomb of matter (death), and this keynote (resurrection) will distinguish the new world religion from all preceding religions.

In the new world Aquarian religion, the Festival of Easter and the Feast of Pentecostwill be the two outstanding days of the religious year. Pentecost(Right perception, intuition) symbolizes Goodwill which creates Right Human Relations in which all nations and all of humanity will understand each other and though speaking in many and diverse languages will know only one spiritual speech which is the understanding hidden in the hearts and minds of all of humanity.

There is one equation for peace on Earth. Intentions for Goodwill creates Right Human Relations which creates the peace, harmony, intelligence, wisdom and love all of humanity seeks. We can sing together on Pentecost, Come Holy Spirit, Creator Blessed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nklHOLJlvTY

ARIES: The month ahead sees you as a hard worker, working towards and within your values. If you dont actually know your values, then observe yourself actions, focus, communication. Note youre slower than usual, caring for what you love (and value) with extra care. You see your ambition, the acquiring of possessions, your impatience or impulsiveness. Your senses are more alive. You eat more. Every Aries eventually becomes a Taurus.

TAURUS: Aries can sometimes steal your thunder, your Vulcan volcanic ability to make gold out of lead. You have so many abilities, you can share a few, yes? Notice your reactions to people and events. Turn reactions into responses. Youre more energetic, active, forceful these days. For a rare few moments or two, its ok for you to be overly assertive. However, as Aries has become Taurus, youve become a very interesting Gemini. Its the planet Mercury always playing havoc.

GEMINI: Youve become more of a Pisces. Meaning? More sensitive, more reluctant to push the river, more compassionate and understanding. Your confidence has taken a different path. Youre working more in secret, can be blamed for things you didnt do, be misunderstood. Intuiting that the past is merging with the present and everything looks now towards the future. Dreams (day & night) appear, imagination becomes creative. Music (more of it), please.

CANCER: Its most important to think about cooperation, teamwork and how your personality impacts groups. With all your emerging thoughts and ideas, you may be inclined to talk over others, attempt to direct and dominate everyone and everything. Its best to work with as a team when considering humanitarian goals. Its also important personally to create daily agendas, schedules, plans and goals. They become your new context and protection.

LEO: You are the leader, the one everyone looks to, hopes to be, learns from, emulates, is guided by. (Be grateful) Your accomplishments are acknowledged and recognized. This pleases you. I have written before that for a Leo to evolve others must see, applaud, point out and praise their efforts, gifts, talents and abilities. Praise is how (especially) Leos can more fully identify themselves as creative, saying, I (now know that) I AM because of what I create (and you see it). And now you know.

VIRGO: You long for a new undertaking, a new venture, a quest, an adventure, a voyage somewhere. And your restlessness wont accept any hindrances. Your life does need an expansion coupled with new experiences. All the energy youre feeling propels you into new travel, new studies, new interests, new books along with opinions that may lead to disagreements, disputes and new points of view. Refrain from anything illicit, risky and forbidden.

LIBRA: You can no longer suffer exhaustion, overtime, or other peoples rules. You need deep solitude, a retreat from the world, and less stress, both subtle and overt. Careful with projecting suppressed disappointments or anger (from long ago to present) toward others, especially those close to you. You may be unaware of this. The issues may be conflicts around values, what you hold in common with another, joint money and resources. Careful with communication and consequences. Contemplate your true needs. Then love more.

SCORPIO: Everything may become challenging, especially interactions with friends, co-workers and intimates. Should you encounter conflict, measure it against your personal internal conflicts. We reflect each other, the heavens and the earth. Conflict contains information. If we struggle long enough a new level of harmony emerges. Be as courageous, dynamic and lively as possible. Everything eventually becomes conflictual, then it resolves, then theres rapprochement. Help someone in the meantime.

SAGITTARIUS: Interesting new energy, at times quixotic and unexpected, is affecting daily routines, agendas, plans and work schedules. In between focus on health exercise, diet, walking, running, archery, horseback riding, yoga, etc. You must have a daily regime of physical activity or restlessness will result. It may be difficult working with others. You may be too unusual and too fast for them. Harmony is needed in your work world. Be aware of this. Dont disagree, clash or quarrel. When agitated, recite silent Oms. Laughter is the best meditation.

CAPRICORN: Questions. Do you have lots of energy and self-discipline? Are you seeking new and unusual creative expressions? Do you feel you are expanding out of the old ways of identity and being? Do you have enough money? Do you feel the need for a deeper spirituality? And do you want to communicate about this? Tend to the wounds of loved ones. The result will be more play, pleasure, more sleep. Is your home comfortable? Do you need a new couch? Do you need more comfort? How is your daily life changing?

AQUARIUS: You may find yourself being more and more creative, which gives you a greater sense of identity. Note how you feel more instinctive, protective and secure. Are new or unusual events occurring concerning where you live? Are you thinking about family matters? Gather up much of the past. Review everything. Assess what is useful, what you can give away, what you want to keep as family heirlooms. When issues from the past emerge, talk with someone about them. Someone safe and trusting. Watch the birds each morning.

PISCES: Perform daily tasks quietly and slowly. This creates mindfulness and efficiency. Consider professional needs. Its soon time to tell everyone of your visions, ideas, plans, wants and needs. Communications may be quick, unusual, unexpected, futuristic. Step back and watch Mars at work. Pushing things forward into a dreamy and unknown future. Tend to hands and feet with care. Sew and paint. Use the mind to make order and beauty out of conflict and chaos. Neptune in Pisces.

A 50-year-old hermit, Sant Premdas of Guniya Mahadev temple Ashram under Diwer police station area of Rajsamand, Rajasthan, committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree on Sunday. Before taking away his life, he recorded a five-minute video message to the administration regarding the allegations of rape levelled against him.

A few days ago, a woman had approached Rajsamand SP Bhuvan Bhushan Yadav and accused Sant Premadas of raping her. A case was registered against the Sadhu and the investigation was underway. According to woman, she and her husband had gone to the Sants ashram on April 20 and May 20 to seek treatment for stomach ailments. The woman said that the hermit gave her something to drink which made her drowsy and he subsequently raped her.

The police went to the ashram to investigate the matter, but they did not find the Sant there. A caretaker called Chhaganlal Suthar was directed by the police to inform them in case the Sant returns. However, when Suthar reached the ashram on Monday, he saw the hermits body hanging from a tree in the ashram premises. The police were immediately called and the body of the Sant was shifted to a morgue in the Devgarh Hospital. The Sants family, which stays in Gwalior, has been informed about his death.

The hermit in his video message, which has now gone viral, claimed that he was deeply anguished by the allegations of rape levelled against him and accused the woman and her husband, a member of women commission, and 3 other men of blackmailing him for an amount of Rs 15 lakhs. Claiming himself to be innocent, Sant Premdas said that he is taking the extreme step of giving up his life to save his honour and self-respect.

Superintendent of Police Bhuvan Bhushan Yadav assured that necessary action will be taken against the culprits after checking the veracity of the claims made in the video.

The Mother, Sri Aurobindo Ashram

This is a habit with us, not only in this particular case but in all cases. It is rather remarkable that when we have a weaknessfor example a ridiculous habit, a defect or an imperfectionsince it is more or less part of our nature, we consider it to be very natural, it does not shock us. But as soon as we see this same weakness, this same imperfection, this same ridiculous habit in someone else, it seems quite shocking to us and we say, What! Hes like that?without noticing that we ourselves are like that. And so to the weakness and imperfection we add the absurdity of not even noticing them.

There is a lesson to be drawn from this. When something in a person seems to you completely unacceptable or ridiculous What! He is like that, he behaves like that, he says things like that, he does things like thatyou should say to yourself, Well, well, but perhaps I do the same thing without being aware of it. I would do better to look into myself first before criticizing him, so as to make sure that I am not doing the very same thing in a slightly different way.

If you have the good sense and intelligence to do this each time you are shocked by another persons behaviour, you will realise that in life your relations with others are like a mirror which is presented to you so that you can see more easily and clearly the weaknesses you carry within you. In general and almost absolute way, anything that shocks you in other people is the very thing you carry in yourself in a more or less veiled, more or less hidden form, though perhaps in a slightly different guise which allows you to delude yourself. And what in yourself seems inoffensive enough, becomes monstrous as soon as you see it in others.

Try to experience this; it will greatly help you to change yourselves. At the same time, it will bring a sunny tolerance to your relationships with others, the goodwill which comes from understanding, and it will very often put an end to these completely useless quarrels.

Akal Ashram Colony residents rue shortage of drinking water – The Tribune India

Posted: May 8, 2020 at 4:42 pm

Sanjay BumbrooTribune News Service Mohali, May 1

Residents of Akal Ashram Colony in Sector 77, near the district administration complex here, are facing a shortage of safe drinking water for the past 10 days.

Due to the curfew restriction, they have been unable to meet any official concerned about the problem.

Colony residents, including Jaspal Singh Negi, Ravinder Singh Sohal, Surjit Kaur Kalra and others, said they had been fetching water from taps in Sri Harkrishan Sahib Charitable Eye Hospital, Sohana, and the Samadhi of Bhagat Asa Ram. However, GMADA and water supply officials are playing blame games.

Residents said due to lack of coordination between the Water Supply Department and GMADA officials, they had been facing the problem since the time the colony was established. They said the problem worsened during the summer months. They said a few houses were using submersible pumps and many houses had taps, but their water was unsafe for drinking and could only be used only for washing bathrooms or utensils.

Residents said earlier, they were supplied water by the Water Supply Department and in January this year, the responsibility was handed over to GMADA. However, officials concerned say the charge of supplying water was not handed over to GMADA.

Residents said streetlights in their area were also non-functioning and the condition of roads was also bad.

They say they had informed the Cabinet Minister, Deputy Commissioner and others about the problem in writing and in person, but to no avail.

GMADA XEN Pankaj Mehmi clarified that the Water Supply Department did not hand over the charge to GMADA. Area JE Ravinder Singh has written to GMADA in this regard and also submitted a field survey report, but the issue was yet to be settled. He said GMADA was supplying water, but the pipeline in the colony was old and could not bear the pressure, thus, causing leakage at various places.

Meanwhile, Water Supply Department XEN Sahil Sharma said supplying water was the responsibility of GMADA.
