NOT many people make it to a world titles after only being involved in a sport for two years.
But Warrnambool teenager Aylish Auchettl is an exception.
She will head to the Netherlands later this week to compete in the World Aerobic Championships.
Aylish will travel with her teammates from EKB Fitness and Aerobics to compete in the teams event.
The 14-year-old was excitedly packing her bags when she spoke to The Standard and said she was looking forward to being among the best competitors in the world.
Its very exciting, Im looking forward to the whole experience of travelling overseas, and seeing the best in the world compete, she said.
The Warrnambool College student said she was doing up to 10 hours training a week in preparation for the championships.
I do about one-and-a-half hours a day, she said.
Action Fitness sponsors the team and as part of that we get a membership, so we have been doing gym sessions and using the mirrors for choreography.

Yoga at work may relieve stress and back pain
Posted: at 12:12 am
If you're stressed at work, a little yoga on your lunch break might just help.
A new study from the United Kingdom suggests yoga done at work can reduce stress levels and lowerback pain.
The study involved 74 British government workers ages 25 to 64 who said they experienced stress and back pain that was somewhat bothersome. Participants were randomly assigned to practice either eight weeks of yoga, or no yoga.
People in the yoga group took part in a 50-minuteyoga classonce a week, either at lunchtime or after work. They could also practice yoga at home twice a week for 20 minutes using a DVD.
All participants completed questionnaires designed to assess back pain, stress levels and overall well-being.
At the beginning of the study, 10 people in the yoga group and eight in the control group said they had back pain. At the end of the study, just four participants in the yoga group reported back pain, compared to 13 in the control group.
In addition, participants in the yoga group had reported lowerlevels of stressand less sadness at the study's end, compared with those in the control group.
The findings agree with previous research showing that yoga can reduce stress levels and back pain.
The researchers, from the Bangor University in North Wales, noted that the majority of participants were women, so the findings may not apply to men. Also, the benefits in the yoga group may have been influenced by the placebo effect the idea that a treatment is beneficial simply because patients believe it will work.
Future studies should examine whether yoga at work can reduce the number ofsick daysworkers take, the researchers said.

Lenovo Flips Out With New Yoga Windows 8 Laptop
Posted: at 12:12 am
The number of computers being released ahead of Windows 8 might seem crazy, but there's also a bit of crazy in the computers themselves.
This evening Lenovo released the details of its Yoga convertible laptop and its ThinkPad Twist and Lynx models. All three of the Windows 8 computers pair touch screens with keyboards.
In some cases, as with the Lynx, Lenovo is offering a simple tablet with a keyboard accessory, but in others, like the Yoga, it is offering a laptop with a hinged screen that is more flexible than your yoga instructor.
Flexibility With Yoga
The Yoga, which was first previewed at the Consumer Electronics Show last year, looks like a regular laptop -- until you start pushing the screen back. The hinge moves 360 degrees, allowing you to rotate the screen all the way over the back of the keyboard to make it a tablet. You can also prop it up and turn it into an easel or tent of sorts. To see the entire thing in action we encourage you to check out the video above.
The Yoga will come in two flavors. The Yoga 13 comes with Intel processors (Core i3 or i5), a 13.3-inch display, and Windows 8 Pro. It will start at $1,099 and will be sold at Best Buy starting Oct. 26, when Windows 8 officially launches.
The Yoga 11 will have an 11-inch screen and be powered by an ARM Tegra 3 processor from Nvidia.
The lower-powered processor enables the computer to run Windows RT, a version of Windows that doesn't support older applications. However, because of the lower-energy chip, it will run 13 hours on a single battery charge. The processor architecture also costs less, so the Yoga 11 will start at $799.
Twist, Lynx While the Yogas might steal the show with their flexible screens, Lenovo has two more tablet/keyboard devices up its sleeve. The ThinkPad Twist is a modern take on the old tablet PC. Or, really, it is just like an old tablet PC with a new operating system. The 12.5-inch screen swivels around and locks over the keyboard to turn it into a tablet.
Aimed at business users, it will be available with Intel's Core processors, solid-state hard drives, and optional 3G. It will start at $849 and be available at Staples and other retailers.

Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13
Able to swivel its screen a full 360 degrees, the IdeaPad Yoga 13 leads Lenovo's "convertibles" line of Windows 8 devices. It'll be available Oct. 26 starting at $1,099.

Lenovo got a lot of kudos when it first unveiled the Yoga, a "convertible" laptop whose screen can fold all the way over -- a full 360 degrees -- to become a tablet. Today the nimble notebook gets real with a price and release date, and it's bringing a few friends.
The Yoga will lead Lenovo's new line of convertible Windows 8 PCs. It includes two versions of the Yoga, with 13- and 11-inch models, as well as the IdeaTab Lynx tablet (powered by Windows RT) and a folding laptop called the ThinkPad Twist, aimed at businesses and schools.

The headliner is definitely the Yoga, though, with its swiveling hinge. The big-size model sports a 13.3-inch screen 1,600 x 900 resolution. When you swing the display past 180 degrees, the keyboard automatically disables itself, ensuring no errant keystrokes when you're using it as a tablet.
And that's one powerful tablet -- the Yoga 13 packs either an Intel Core i5 or i7 processor with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of solid-state storage. It's not the thinnest Ultrabook we've ever seen, but at 3.4 pounds and 0.67 of an inch thick, it's no hulk either.
The starting price is decent at $1,099, but that'll climb fast if you want decent RAM or a bigger drive. It comes in silver and "clementine orange" finishes.

Rockies Mailbag: Is Dan O'Dowd GM for life in Colorado?
Posted: October 9, 2012 at 12:27 pm
Denver Post sports writers Troy E. Renck and Patrick Saunders post the Rockies Mailbag on every other week during the 2012-13 MLB offseason.
Pose a Rockies- or MLB-related question for the Rockies Mailbag.
What do you think the Rockies will do with Dan O'Dowd? Do you think they will go out and get a bunch of new coaches for next year and try to start the year with a whole new coaching staff? --Peyton, Greenwood Village
O'Dowd is safe in his new role, one in which he's become much more involved with talent evaluation, particularly at the minor-league level. Though O'Dowd is still the ultimate boss of the front office, he's handed off the day-to-day baseball operations to Bill Geivett.
The heart of your question, of course, is whether O'Dowd will remain the Rockies' GM. The answer, for the foreseeable future, is yes. Owner Dick Monfort still believes in O'Dowd, even though scads of fans continue to howl their disapproval.
As for the coaching staff, I'm sure there will be turnover. There always is when a team loses as many games as the Rockies did this season. Geivett is the man in charge of molding the coaching staff. Even if Jim Tracy had returned as manager, the coaches were ultimately going to be Geivett's call. In my opinion, it's one of the reasons why Tracy resigned.
That being said, I think the new manager, whoever he is, would at least have some input in the coaching staff.
As Troy Renck and I wrote in Monday's paper in a story about Tracy's resignation, the Rockies could replace as many as three coaches, including the hitting and pitching instructors. That does not mean changes are certain, but chances are strong the coaching staff will have a much different

FYI, the club has asked for permission to speak with Marlins scout Mark Wiley regarding the new director of pitching operations position. Wiley, if hired, would oversee pitching throughout the organization and would likely have input on who the big league pitching coach would be. If Bo McLaughlin is not retained, Bob McClure, who spent several years in Triple-A Colorado Springs before serving as the big league coach for the Royals and Red Sox, could be a strong candidate.

Grassroots coaching key – Neville

Grassroots coaching is vital for the future success of the national side, says England coach Gary Neville.
"If we can get more quality, higher quality, a better quantity of coaching in this country, we will produce better footballers - that is a fact," Neville told BBC Radio 5 live. Sport .
And on the subject of grassroots coaches he said: "They are everything."
The Football Association's new 100m national football centre will be officially opened on Tuesday.
The 330-acre St George's site near Burton upon Trent will be a training base for England teams and a centre of excellence dedicated to increasing the number of quality coaches and managers.
The FA is also implementing changes in youth football that include smaller pitches and goals and has created new "youth modules" to aid youngsters' development.
Former Manchester United defender Neville said: "The information passed to six to 14-year-olds is absolutely critical."
The 37-year-old, who joined Roy Hodgson's backroom team in the summer, added: "I was so lucky I was given the right information. I had good coaches, my parents put the right principles into me."
While playing for Manchester United, he won all of the domestic trophies at least once and was part of the Champions League side that beat Bayern Munich in 1999.
Neville won 85 caps for England in his 13-year international career and represented his country at Euro 96, Euro 2000, Euro 2004, World Cup 98 and World Cup 2006.

Weight Loss is the Most Common Motivation for Clients Seeking Health Coaching, Reveals Life Coach Directory
Posted: at 12:27 pm
A survey recently conducted online by professional coaching network Life Coach Directory, has revealed that the most common reason for a client to seek health coaching is for weight loss.*
Camberley, Surrey (PRWEB UK) 9 October 2012
Overcoming unhealthy eating habits that have manifested over a lifetime is sadly not a simple case of eating less and exercising more. Half the battle is finding the motivation to begin, and the other half is keeping the progress going.
During the past decade the fad diet concept exploded, with many individuals seeing them as the answer to their weight woes. Think cabbage soup, fasting, low-carb and low-calorie fad diets such as these pledge to make you lose weight fast but in the main dont produce sustainable results.
We should know by now that if something sounds too good to be true, it usually is, and any diet that promises a quick and effortless route to losing weight should set alarm bells ringing. There is no magic pill, and there is certainly no easy way.
Fad diets are often extreme, sometimes demanding avoiding entire food groups or surviving on only liquids. Whilst these radical rules might be fine for short bursts of time, they cannot be maintained on a long-term basis and could even lead to illness.
So if dieting is not the answer to long-term weight loss, what is?
Weight loss and a healthy lifestyle should always be a learning experience, and you she be able to walk away feeling confident and motivated that you can continue and sustain your progress independently. Weight loss isnt simply about changing what you eat; it is about changing your approach and attitude towards food.
It is for this reason that many individuals seek health coaching.
Health coaches aim to help individuals find the motivation needed to stick to their diet, even after the initial drive begins to fizzle out. It is not about trying fad diets or exploring the emotional relationship we have with food it is about introducing structure and attainable goals to motivate and prevent old habits from raising their heads.

Capello finding life tough in Russia
Posted: at 12:27 pm
Russia boss Fabio Capello has admitted that he's finding it difficult to adapt to his new surroundings, but is determined to overcome any obstacles as he tries to guide the national team to World Cup 2014.
The former England coach replaced Dick Advocaat at the helm after a disappointing Euro 2012 campaign, but he has so far struggled to settle.
"Everything is written in Cyrillic, and it's difficult to read and to learn the Cyrillic alphabet," Capello stated to UEFA.com. "I always need a translator, and it makes it a bit more difficult to say what I want to say. Sometimes the right expression, the right word, helps you a lot. So I would say it's really difficult.
He added, "But as with all difficult challenges, I like to take them on.
"I have just arrived and I am living in a hotel. Moscow is a beautiful city. Russia is a nation full of development. You see many nice things. For example all the stadiums are built for the World Cup, the infrastructure, so it's really a nation worth living in."
Russia is currently preparing for the World Cup 2014 qualifiers against Portugal and Azerbaijan.
