LPN to RN Program: Holly Earns Her ADN with Help from The College Network
http://www.collegenetwork.com With a husband in the military, Holly was always on the move, making traditional nursing school practically impossible. The LPN to RN program from The College Network was the perfect solution, allowing Holly to work toward her associate degree online. As an LPN, Holly became frustrated with many of the obstacles that stood in her way. "I #39;m tired of my title dictating what I can and cannot do in my profession," Holly said. "I want to be able to do everything a nurse is supposed to do and not be limited by the fact that I #39;m not a registered nurse. Right now, I #39;m in a managerial role ...I have the knowledge to do it, but I don #39;t have the title, and I can #39;t tell you how frustrating that is." For Holly, The College Network #39;s online Rsource Center was a convenient way to study. By staying motivated, Holly is now well on her way to receiving her associate degree in nursing and earning her RN credential. The College Network provides educational solutions that help individuals advance their education and training with college degrees and professional certificates from highly acclaimed universities. Forget Hatha, Ashtanga and Bikram! Try Troga – the latest form of yoga
Posted: at 1:47 pm
Sydney, March 14 (ANI): A new form of yoga, nicknamed Troga, will be launching in Australia next week.
Developed by two Australians, Troga combines yoga and TRX - a form of resistance training using ropes and webbing, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.
Former Cronulla Sharks rugby league player, Ben Lucas, who's been a personal trainer for 13 years and Kate Kendall, who has been a yoga teacher for the past five years, created it.
Lucas said when he was training for a 100km ultramarathon in mid 2010 he was first suggested to try yoga help recover well.
After practicing yoga he said he went from not being able to touch his toes to making it an integral part of his training process.
On the hand while teaching Lucas yoga Kendall noticed how his training was affecting his yoga practice and making it stronger.
She recalled how the yoga was making Lucas more mobile and keeping him injury free.
Later they decided to set up Flow Athletic in Sydney's Paddington that will offer classes online for the rest of the nation.
They will offer Troga (TRX/yoga) and Bike-Asana (spin/yoga) classes. Spin/yoga is popular overseas with celebrities like Nicole Kidman and Gwyneth Paltrow.
Troga uses a system of ropes and webbing called a "suspension trainer" attached to the ceiling, it means the workout uses your own body weight as resistance.

Paddle yoga trending fast in Abu Dhabi
Posted: at 1:47 pm
Dubai, Mar 14 (ANI): Stand-up Paddle yoga or SUP yoga as it is popularly known - the ancient Indian technique of body postures remodelled into a more advanced balancing act atop water is fast catching on in Abu Dhabi.
SUP yoga has already caught the imagination of the Western world and parts of Europe.
XPRESS caught up with a group of six woman practicing SUP yoga on their rickety paddleboards on the choppy waters of Abu Dhabi corniche at the Yacht and Sailing club.
The 90-minute session starts with a 15-minute warm-up as students use a six to seven foot paddle to propel themselves on the board, which is a little wider than the usual surfing board.
"This is a warm-up for their arms and legs. It also helps them get steady," Gulf News quoted Caludia Dos Santos, who doubles as a yoga instructor when she is not flying, as saying.
The 32-year-old from South Africa works as a cabin crew and introduced SUP a year ago in Abu Dhabi with the help of Taimeir Tim, a pilot with Etihad. (ANI)

Flexible resistance ... Ben Lucas and Kate Kendall of Troga. Photo: Danielle Smith
Forget Hatha, Ashtanga or Bikram there's a new form of yoga in town, nicknamed Troga, and it was developed by two Australians.
Troga combines yoga and TRX - a form of resistance training using ropes and webbing. Launching in Australia next week, I was the first to give it a go.
It's creators are former Cronulla Sharks rugby league player, Ben Lucas, who's been a personal trainer for 13 years and Kate Kendall, who has been a yoga teacher for the past five years.

It might seem unusual that a former rugby player would also be into yoga. ''In mid 2010 I was training for a 100km ultramarathon and I wasn't recovering well, so it was suggested I try yoga,'' said Lucas. ''I went from not being able to touch my toes to making it an integral part of my training process.''

''Benny was taking me for PT and I was teaching him yoga,'' said Kendall. ''I was noticing how his training was affecting my yoga practice and making it stronger. And the yoga was making him more mobile and keeping him injury free.''
Kendall laughs about their lightbulb moment. ''We thought 'this is a no-brainer'. No one is doing this. No one is providing this complete workout. You either do yoga classes or you go and train - you don't do the two,'' said Kendall.
