The career success roadmap for women

Posted: at 6:49 am

After interviewing 60 senior-level women executives from 20 companies in 19 countries, ICEDR found that successful women executives explore what matters to them, own their decisions, and repay support they received while making it through the ranks. Lauren Ready, the report author and Director of Marketing at ICEDR, provided the following insight that is relevant at all career levels:

Explore Explore your strengths and weaknesses and likes and dislikes. Be self aware, know your personal style, and showcase your personality. Determine your personal definition of success, what you want to achieve, and the legacy you want to leave.

Know that there are various career paths, and there will likely be obstacles along the way, so be flexible. Those twists and turns can make you stronger and actually help you land in a better place, even if it does not seem that way at the time.

Own Take ownership of your personal and professional life, determine what work/life balance means to you, and be prepared to make tradeoffs. Decide what you can take on and what you need to take away. Be known for a few things stop trying to be everything for everyone, focus on key priorities, and learn to say no.

Men put themselves forward and women need to as well. Be an advocate for yourself, speak up about your accomplishments, and go after what you want. In your job, do not just provide a point of view also provide a solution.

Repay Give back to other women and give back to the community. Mentor and sponsor other women, have candid conversations, and give candid feedback, such as how someone presents themselves. Help other women think through situations, understand what is coming ahead, and move forward.

Also make sure you reach across the aisle and help other senior-level women. Stick together and do not contradict each other in meetings talk out differences after.

An Executives Perspective President of Pfizer Latin America and Huffington Post author Adele Gulfo, who was interviewed for the ICEDR report, said Women need to know what they want, gain P&L accountability where they own and show they grew a piece of business, go after general manager and operations roles, and raise their hand for challenging assignments.

Pfizer developed an internal Raise Your Hand program after seeing women were not applying for senior level roles at the rate men were. Raise Your Hand educates women about specific leadership roles and helps them understand what it is really like to be in the role. Gulfo said Some women fear they will completely lose balance in management positions, but you actually have more control in those roles and get work done through and with others.

It is really good to have strength in one discipline when aspiring to be a General Manager, and then look for roles that generate revenue for the business, said Gulfo. For example, Gulfo was a research scientist, then took on a marketing role within her field of expertise (pharmaceuticals), and eventually became a President/General Manager at Pfizer.

Stevens hopes 2013 success will continue after Kent return

by Alex Hoad

Kent all-rounder Darren Stevens says he hopes his pre-season success in Bangladesh is not the last he enjoys this season.

The 35-year-old is back in Kent after successfully defending the Bangladesh Premier League title with Dhaka Gladiators and a short stint in South Africa,

Revelling in his second straight title in Bangladesh last month, during which he was 12th in the league averages with 35.16, Stevens said: "I was delighted. Six weeks out there is a long time and it was hard graft but we had a good tournament.

"We put 200+ on the board in three straight games and five overall and if you do that you put a ton of pressure on the side youre facing. It was a good way to start this year."

Stevens also revealed he was left "slightly frustrated" to have his pre-season preparations in Cape Town cut short by the call to join Kent training and admitted: "I was a bit disappointed about coming back so early.

"It was over six weeks until the first game and I was hoping for two or three weeks out in the warm in South Africa and maybe getting a T20 chance out there. I had no choice. My job is here."

Stevens revealed hed talked Kent with head coach Jimmy Adams on his return.

He said: "He asked me my thoughts and what I thought we needed.

Unsecured Personal Loans for Bad Credit Make a Comeback at Loans.net

Posted: at 6:49 am

SAN DIEGO, March 27, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Ever since the financial markets collapsed, lenders had become extremely careful with unsecured personal loans for bad credit and a vast majority of borrowers were either refused flat out or offered secured loans that would demand some form of collateral. In fact, a huge proportion of borrowers had stopped trying for this category of loans completely, primarily due to the fear of being rejected. The dent on credit scores due to inquiries was also a concern.

(Photo: http://photos.prnewswire.com/prnh/20130327/CG84888)

Loans.net initiated an aggressive three-step action plan to resurrect this category of loans and after an intense concerted effort, the company has managed to negotiate with key lenders within the niche of unsecured personal loans to ensure customers with bad credit are not completely left out.

The three-pronged strategy launched by Loans.net encompassed key steps. First, the site overhauled and reshuffled its internal network to include lenders who specialize in working with credit-challenged individuals. Second, the internal technical infrastructure was enhanced so that the matchmaking process would progress smoothly. Finally, exclusive relationships and alliances were forged with lenders and banking institutions so that customers requesting unsecured personal loans for bad credit would have a smooth sail -- and they do.

The efforts have worked and the company officially unveiled its new lender network specializing in this niche. An official press statement was released to mark the company's new-found success:

"We have successfully managed to carve out a special category of loans for individuals asking for unsecured personal loans for bad credit. Over the past few years, we have been working with several lenders, collectively and individually, to ensure this neglected segment of the population was given the level of service it deserves. Many of these individuals are responsible borrowers but ones faced with unavoidable circumstances such as a job loss or a medical emergency. We can't label them and put them aside. They do deserve an opportunity to rebuild their credit histories and also obtain the financial support they need during trying financial circumstances. Our experience indicates that these individuals do repay the loans they have taken and are not as 'risky' as they have been perceived to be until now. Much to the contrary, since they are eager to rebuild their credit histories they are much more responsible and alert when it comes to payment schedules."

Loans.net has been in existence for over fifteen years and offers several programs for individuals applying for loans across a wide range of categories. The newly-announced portfolio includes a niche segment of lenders specializing in offering unsecured personal loans for bad credit customers. Over the past fifteen years, the site has facilitated the process of connecting tens of thousands of borrowers with lenders and loans amounting to millions of dollars have been exchanged through its flagship site. The company claims to have achieved over 98% customer satisfaction and generates new customers primarily through referrals and recommendations of previously satisfied customers.

The Future for Personal Injury and Michael Jefferies Ingredients for Legal Business Success

Posted: at 6:49 am

MANCHESTER, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - Mar 21, 2013) - Jefferies Solicitors, the no win no fee lawyers, MD, Michael Jefferies has revealed in a recent interview that passion shared by himself and his staff has kept his business thriving in apotentially difficult time for the personal injury claims legal sector.

His take on passion is not just about earning money it is about providing harmonious systems in process-driven organisations, maintaining an eye for detail andhaving the right management team.

Michael believes universally that all process-oriented companies require particular skills from people and coins the phrase: ''Finders, minders, grinders''. He says staff need to enjoy what they are doing which in turn, inspires passion and production.

We have people working with us who are responsible for specific aspects of the business. Sales staff have links with roadside recovery companies who we get referrals from and a separate department exists for new lead generation. This structure is an example of how separating the business development side of the business with the legal function is critical to success.

Good communication

Michael says it is important to know what clients want and he is unswerving in his view on this: people want ''no win no fee''; they want a quick turn around and they want to be communicated with effectively by their personal injury team.

Good communication skills are not always abundant in law firms and this can impact on their business.

Acquiring new business

When it comes to winning new clients the MD says referrals form a large part and many originate from both success stories and customer experiences. He adds that because the staff are so people focused and responsive, former clients want to tell others about the service.

The firm also utilises lead generation fed by a combination of advertising and internet presence which has recently been added to in the form of a Polish translated website.

Golf-Woods heads to Masters basking in renewed success

Posted: at 6:49 am

By Steve Keating

ORLANDO, Florida, March 25 (Reuters) - Tiger Woods's renewed success has him back on top of the world rankings but questions thrown at him after Monday's triumph at Bay Hill were about something he has not done for a long time, win the Masters.

While all signs point to Woods being close to his best after years of struggling with injuries, personal strife and a tedious swing overhaul, his comeback will not be complete in many minds, including his own, until he snaps a drought in the majors that dates back to the 2008 U.S. Open.

Woods's 77th PGA Tour victory moved him within five of Sam Snead's career record but it is another mark, Jack Nicklaus's 18 majors, that has been the 37-year-old American's 'Holy Grail' since he burst onto the professional golf scene.

With 14 major titles on his resume, Woods will get a chance to add to his total and confirm his comeback is complete at next month's Masters at Augusta National, where he has four wins but none since 2005.

Asked what Monday's Arnold Palmer Invitational victory at Bay Hill, his final competitive tune-up before Augusta, meant to him Woods had a brief answer: "more media interviews."

Woods has collected three wins in five starts this season, the earliest he has captured three titles in a season since 2008, making him the clear favourite going into the Masters.

But success in his final Masters tune-up has never translated into victory at the year's first major. Three-times Woods has won his final event before the Masters (2000, 2003, 2008) and each time failed to reach the Augusta winner's circle.

Still, few will be betting against Woods slipping into a fifth green jacket next month.

"I enjoy competing, I enjoy winning golf tournaments and especially major championships," said Woods. "To have, at one point in my career, had all four of them on my coffee table in a row was a pretty neat feeling."

Football – Survival the next aim for Ince

Posted: at 6:49 am

The Seasiders are just four points above the drop zone despite Ince's 18 goals this season, form which saw the 21-year-old winger named Johnstone's Paint Trophy Young Player of the Year at the Football League awards on Sunday night.

"I didn't expect this at all. I've enjoyed my season at Blackpool but this has capped it off nicely," he told Press Association Sport.

"It's been up and down, it's not easy when you get managerial changes.

"At the start of the season we were flying high at the top but have you seen our pitch? It's like Blackpool beach at the moment.

"So there have been disappointments this season but we have a great group of lads, we all work for each other and we are where we are.

"We have to make sure we keep Blackpool in the Championship this season and then next season get Blackpool where they should be, challenging at the top."
