Yoga Courses Offered by the Sivananda Yoga Organization in Latin America in 2013
Posted: at 7:45 am
The Yoga courses are offered in a calm environment, allowing visitors to enjoy the benefits of Yoga, meditation, breathing exercices, and healthy vegetarian food, among others.
Miami, FL (PRWEB) April 15, 2013
The Yoga Teacher's Training Course helps graduates to deepen their spiritual practice and their study of Hatha yoga, Vedanta philosophy, Raja yoga, anatomy and Sanskrit. The advanced class gives students an additional chance to practice under guidance in a supportive atmosphere, which provides many with a boost of energy and clarity.
In the the Yoga vacations (vacaciones de Yoga Colombia ), students will learn about five principles that constitute the essence of the teachings of the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centers. To clarify the science of Yoga and make it accessible to the majority of seekers, Swami Vishnu-devananda extracted its essence and presented it in universal principles for physical and mental health as well as spiritual growth.
1. Proper Exercise (Asanas)
The physical body is meant to move and exercise. If the lifestyle does not provide natural motion of muscles and joints, then disease and great discomfort will ensue with time. Proper exercise should be pleasant to the practitioner while beneficial to the body, mind and spiritual life.
2. Proper Breathing (Pranayama california)
Yoga teaches how to use the lungs to their maximum capacity and how to control the breath. Proper breathing should be deep, slow and rhythmical. This increases vitality and mental clarity.
3. Proper Relaxation (Savasana)
Long before the invention of cars, planes, telephones, computers, freeways and other modern triggers of stress, the Rishis (sages or seers) and Yogis of yore devised very powerful techniques of deep relaxation. As a matter of fact, many modern stress-management and relaxation methods borrow heavily from this tradition. By relaxing deeply all the muscles the Yogi can thoroughly rejuvenate his nervous system and attain a deep sense of inner peace.

From hatha to vinyasa and everything in between, a new app helps yoga lovers find upcoming classes nearby.
Om Finder, an iPhone app, detects a user's location and shows yoga classes happening at studios around them, including time and directions.
"The vision was to get more people on planet Earth doing yoga," said Nancy Richardson, vice president of digital and brand strategy at Vancouver-based yoga apparel company Lululemon.
Classes can be found at nearly 7,000 studios in 63 countries worldwide and can be filtered by time and type, including hatha, power flow, vinyasa and hot yoga.
"It offers lots of different options to try different classes, types of yoga, and experience different teachers," Richardson said.
Yogis can also keep up with the schedules of their favorite instructors. The app has over 30,000 instructor profiles, which include a schedule of their upcoming classes.
According to Rachel Acheson, vice president of brand and community at Lululemon, the turnover for yoga is high. Although there are approximately 20 million people practicing yoga, about 20% drop out every year.
"The new people to yoga every year is substantial," said Acheson. "Finding your teacher is one of the biggest things that drives commitment to the practice."
Users can invite friends to join in on class by sending a text, tweet, email or Facebook message through the app, and keep track of the classes they're headed to.
The app launched Thursday and by Saturday had been downloaded over 18,000 times. It secured the top spot in the Health and Fitness category on Apple's App Store in Canada, and the third spot in the category in the US

Dahn Yoga Victory in Lawsuit
Posted: at 7:45 am
GILBERT, Ariz., April 16, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --Dahn Yoga & Health Centers, Inc. announces the recent end of a highly publicised lawsuit by 27 former employees and members. The federal lawsuit that began in on May 22, 2009 officially ended on April 1, 2013. All claims in the lawsuit have either been dismissed by the Court or dropped by the plaintiffs.
(Logo: http://photos.prnewswire.com/prnh/20130416/LA95311LOGO)
The lawsuit against Dahn Yoga and its affiliates was filed in the US District Court of Arizona (Barba et al. v. Dahn Yoga et al, Case No. CV09-1115-PHX-SRB) and attracted media attention with claims that included fraud, undue influence, unfair and deceptive business practice, emotional distress, wage and hour law violation and civil RICO violations. On November 3, 2009, Judge Susan Bolton dismissed a majority of the claims, affecting nearly all of the 27 plaintiffs. In light of the Judge's Order, the plaintiffs and their attorney filed an Amended complaint, but it did not strengthen their case. Subsequently, on October 26, 2011, plaintiffs' attorney, Ryan Kent, withdrew from the case. In his motion to withdraw, Kent acknowledged that he had expected the case to be settled without protracted litigation. As a result, many plaintiffs were dismissed by the Court or dropped their claims. Some even admitted in writing that allegations made in the lawsuit were not what they had intended or directly contradict their experience with Dahn Yoga.
The court rulings and the plaintiff withdrawals bring a difficult chapter to an end. A statement by the current Dahn Yoga CEO expresses the company's appreciation for the consistent support of its members, instructors, employees and friends. She states that in light of this experience "... we have made many important changes and despite the challenges we faced, we have emerged from this experience as better communicators, better managers, better business people and better citizens."
Dahn Yoga & Health Centers, Inc. (www.dahnyoga.com) provides personalized service and exceptional facilities that teach a stylized practice of yoga based on Korean traditions. The word "dahn", meaning "energy", emphasizes the mind body connection as the key to health and well-being. Ilchi Lee founded the practice in South Korea before the first U.S. Dahn Yoga center was opened in the early 1990s. Acclaimed for health and wellness innovations and the integration of ancient and modern, Dahn Yoga has an extensive network of highly-respected facilities and instructors in seventeen states, and numerous affiliates around the world.
