Yoga sessions help people dealing with cancer

CANCER patients go through an emotional and physically trying time to fight their battle.
A special cancer recovery yoga and meditation class will be held next Tuesday for the first time to help those with cancer or who are recovering from it.
Barb Whitfield said there were many benefits from practising yoga and meditation, and it was from an interest in the community that she had decided to host the special classes.
Mrs Whitfield knows the emotion behind cancer.
"My husband had throat cancer two years ago," she said."Although he didn't practise yoga, he did use meditation.
"It helped him get through his treatment and helped him sleep," Mrs Whitfield said.
The classes have been specially designed for people with cancer.
"It's slower and if people don't feel comfortable on the floor, they can sit on chairs," Mrs Whitfield said.
Participants can just sit and meditate if they don't feel well enough to perform the yoga moves.
