BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Pantai Restaurant and Zen Pavilion at The Empire Hotel and Country Club is currently running a Taste of Japan Promotion until November 17 with special appearances of legendary chefs from Daisyo Corporation, Tokyo, Japan.

The promotion was officiated by Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Wadood Bolkiah bin Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz and Pengiran Siti Aminah binti Pengiran Othman.

Also present were the Japanese Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam, Her Excellency Madam Noriko Iki and Chief Executive Officer of Baiduri Bank, Mr. Pierre Imhof.

The promotion is initiated in conjunction with the 30th Anniversary of Japan-Brunei Friendship, marking commemorative year of both countries' strong ties of cross cultures, arts, academics, economy and tourism.

Sorry, Elsa Katie Holmes has a slightly different take on the year's most viral mantra.

"A friend sent this to me it's a Zen proverb: Let Go Or Be Dragged," she tells PEOPLE. "I think that's so great. People just need to stop taking themselves so seriously, and just relax and yes, let go, or you'll find yourself just so dragged down."

And as she gears up for a new chapter in her life, the star, 35, has a Zen attitude about outside negativity.

"I really just don't care," she says emphatically. "A lot of good things have happened to me, more good than bad, so I focus on that, and the other things that get focused on by the press or whoever I'm just not that interested."

If youre used to staying in swanky suites, Lincoln hopes the interior of its 2015 MKC will seem familiar.

The company used high-end hotels as one inspiration for designing the cabin of its new MKC crossover. But the goal wasnt to recreate a stunning suite from the Aman resort, so much as imbue a sense of calm and serenity the likes of which many luxury buyers are apt to experience in their daily lives.

This heightened focus on the minutest detail inside the 2015 MKC is but one manifestation of a massive makeover Lincoln is undergoing at every level. The all-new compact crossover is aimed at luring young well-heeled buyers to the embattled band. One way it aims to do so is by hushing up so to speak.

To attract a new luxury client, were elevating all aspects of the driving experience, including an intense focus on providing a quiet interior, said Scott Tobin, director of Lincoln product development in a press release detailing efforts to turn the interior of the 2015 MKC into a relaxing cocoon.

The company beefed up door seals and added sound-absorbing trim panels, carpet and insulation to keep unwanted noise from penetrating the cabin. Optional acoustic-laminate windshield and front side glass muffle the cabin even further, while noise-canceling technology neutralizes obnoxious sound frequencies.

The MKCs side mirrors were also shaped so that they smooth airflow over the vehicle and thus reduce wind noise. (Read about how Mercedes-Benz used this technique to create what it claims is the quietest interior in the world, here.)

Much like the sign one hangs on a hotel-room doorknob, Lincoln even included a do not disturb feature in the Sync infotainment system that blocks incoming phone calls or text messages from a paired smartphone.

But silencing audible noise wasnt the only focus: Lincoln made an effort to cut visual noise too. Designers did so by emphasizing horizontal lines in the structure of the dashboard and other elements of the interior, while also creating a sense of harmony with smooth, flowing lines. Even the materials play a role: Using real wood and metal for trim pieces, and high-grade leather for the upholstery creates a sense of authenticity that breeds confidence, Lincoln says. Its sort of the polar opposite of that annoying feeling one gets while looking at tacky faux wood trim.

Effective though they might be, none of these tactics are exclusive to Lincoln. In fact, every luxury automaker crafts its interiors with the features and design principles touted in the new MKC. The difference is, Lincoln is just getting started, so it has ground to make up.

ROANOKE, Va. -

The newest class of Roanoke Police recruits was sworn in this afternoon.

Their first official assignment?

Getting out in the community to meet neighbors and to help keep everyone safe.

The recruits have safety tips for trick-or-treaters both young and old.

The Roanoke Police Department recommends staying vigilant and keeping your eyes and ears open throughout the weekend. Make sure an adult goes out with younger kids who are going door-to-door.

If you're driving through neighborhoods, remember to have your car lights on and drive slowly.

Parents should be aware of what their middle and high school aged kids are doing. Officials recommend checking social media for any plans.

For the adults, they suggest designating a driver if there will be alcohol involved or calling a cab.
