When it comes to Christie Brinkley's youthful glow, the proof is in the pudding (vegan pudding, that is).
The 61-year-old supermodel has a new skincare line launching with HSN called Christie Brinkley Authentic Skincare, and we can see why: The star's looks have hardly changed over the last four decades of her career and, well, we kind of definitely want in on why. Luckily, Brinkley opened up to Elle.com about her beauty secrets, maintaining an animal product-free diet and the advice she gives to lookalike daughter Sailor Brinkley Cook about modeling.
"[Start] with a healthy dietnutrition is an amazing way to contribute to your own well-being, and, of course, exercise and attitude," Brinkley said, adding that life outlook has as much to do with an outer glow as eating well. "Adopting a really positive attitude can work wonders to adding years to your life,a spring to your step, a sparkle to your eye, and all of that."
Her line includes exfoliators that are friendly for everyday use and products specific to our bodies' daytime and nighttime mechanisms.
"Being vegan, and a lifelong vegetarian, I haveread a lot about health and I was very interested in circadian rhythms," she explained. "Our body is doing different things when we are sleeping at night than when we are running around in the day, and I wanted the skin care to work withthat," she said.

Speaking of youth, Brinkley has been making headlines for another reason lately: Her extreme likeness to 16-year-old daughter Sailor.
The teen model recently appeared in a campaign for Lord & Taylor's prom dress line, and walked the red carpet for the collection on March 7. Brinkley admits to giving her daughter career advice, especially when it comes to reading stories in the press.
"Yeah, I mean obviously the basics: show up on time, give it your all, enjoy it, and bring a good attitude to it, and be ready to work," she said. "I've always said to her if you're ever mentioned in an article and you read it online, never scroll past the last word."

‘Test Kitchen’: How To Make Vegetarian Dishes Pop With A Little Umami

Tomato paste gives the Potato Vindaloo its "backbone," "structure" and "depth," says America's Test Kitchen's Jack Bishop. "'You probably wouldn't identify it in the finished dish, but leave it out and you would notice the difference."
Just because a meal is vegetarian doesn't mean it can't be "meaty." One trick to heighten the depth of flavors in plant-based dishes? Use ingredients that offer a pop of umami, say Bridget Lancaster and Jack Bishop of America's Test Kitchen, who have released the new cookbook The Complete Vegetarian Cookbook.
Umami (which means "delicious" or "yummy" in Japanese) is the name of the savory flavor in meat and fish and it's recognized as one of the five tastes, along with sweet, salty, sour and bitter. Umami "incites our taste receptors on our tongue to kind of pick up that savory note from foods," Lancaster, the executive food editor of the Test Kitchen, tells Fresh Air's Terry Gross.
And umami isn't limited to meat. Mushrooms, tomatoes and soy sauce are foods that are high in glutamates, which are the natural compounds that stimulate our umami receptors.
"As a whole, a lot of vegetarian foods, especially a while back, were kind of one-dimensional," Lancaster asserts. "They were a little bit sweet or a little bit bitter. Especially our main courses in this cookbook really satisfy a lot of the flavors on our palate."
Bishop, the editorial director of the Test Kitchen, says a favorite recipe of his in the book is the mushroom Bolognese.
It's the soy sauce, he says, that makes the flavor snap.
"You would think, 'Soy sauce in an Italian recipe?'" he says. "It doesn't read as soy sauce in the final dish. But again, it's adding more depth than if you were to just add an equivalent amount of salt. ... If you add soy sauce, you get salt and you get the glutamates."
