Reijseger, Fraanje, Sylla – ‘Count Till Zen’
Posted: at 2:48 pm
Dutch trio of free improv cellist, jazz pianist and Senegalese singer follow the success of their debut CD 'Down Deep' with a new offering, also recorded with one microphone as they further explore their unique sound.
Just when you think that Fraanje and Reijseger have settled into a New Age groove, Sylla enters with his rough-edged voice, inherited in Senegal from his father, who would sing at the Mosque at 530 am. The group first played together in 2007 but Sylla and Reijseger have been playing duos together since the 1990s. We'll also hear two tracks from James McMurtry's brilliant new album 'Complicated Game' - a song in the voice of one whose attendance at a wedding brings back strong memories of an old love and one in the voice of an Army Veteran who returns to the devastation of his post-blizzard South Dakota farm. And his classic white trash travel epic 'Choctaw Bingo' from a previous album.

Cellist Ernst Reijseger plays incredible pizzicato, without being flashy about it. DeRu Conducts a Lecture on Revolution of Happy Health Care through Quantum Conscious Communication and Zen Meditation …
Posted: at 2:48 pm
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) March 10, 2015
Saturday, April 25th, Shaolin Institute observes World Tai Chi and Qi Gong Day with a 9:00 a.m. breathing meditation to start and followed by a talk of happy health Zen meditation and Tai Gong through quantum conscious communication and cosmic Qi. The event will also present Zen Tai Gong and Kung Fu demonstrations, teachings and festivities at Shaolin park (4350 PeachTree Industrial BLVD), on Peachtree Corners, GA 30071.
This free public event is hosted by SCF and sponsored by Shaolin Institute. This is a worldwide global health and healing event which will begin in New Zealand at 10:00 a.m. and spread time zone by time zone around the globe as it has since 2002. Locally, Shaolin Grand Master Shi Deru, along with Shaolin Institute staff members will demonstrate the ancient Chinese healing art of Tai Chi (pronounced tie-chee) and Tai Gong with meditation.
People of all ages, fitness levels, and abilities are invited to freely participate in cosmic Qi lecture, Qi Gong (chee-gung) breathing mind exercises and to learn basic Tai Chi movements alongside Grand Master Shi DeRu and his highly trained instructors.
These ancient arts not only provide significant health benefits, but have the added advantage of not feeling like exercise. Tai Chi and Zen Tai Gong are simple, slow, fluid, movements that, along with naturally controlled deep breathing, create cosmic Qi space, calmness of mind, body, and spirit.
This graceful art of Zen Tai Gong like health Tai Chi includes relaxing and stretching and each form or posture is supposed to flow seamlessly into the next. Zen Tai Gong is similar to Tai Chi and Qi Gong combined, a slow mental and physical Qi exercise, so the movements are in high conscious stream of mind with very easy motion on muscles, ligaments, tendons, and joints, making it an ideal exercise therapy for the aged, injured, and even disabled individuals.
Close to 30 years ago, Shi DeRu, also known as Shawn X. Liu, founder and Chair of SCF and Headmaster of Shaolin Institute, brought Qi Gong and traditional Tai Chi to the southeastern U.S., opening schools in Georgia, Alabama and Louisiana. He has devoted his life to helping people and is doing so through generous community outreach efforts like World Tai Chi Day, Asian cultural celebrations, and martial arts performances by his highly acclaimed Shaolin Institute Performance Team worldwide.
Over the years DeRu has developed Tai Gong, his own amalgamation of Tai Chi, Zen meditation and Qi Gong, designed to redirect the bodys natural energy or Qi to and through Jing Luo (healing meridians or healing energy points) located throughout the body.
This dynamic cosmic Qi is the bodys natural healing mechanism, stimulating blood flow, improving organ function, and awakening the communication channels between mind and body while strengthening muscles and ligaments.
Zen Tai Gong like Tai Chi helps in the treatment of anxiety, depression, back pain, arthritis, low bone density, breast cancer, Parkinsons disease, sleep disorders, and speeds rehabilitation after a stroke.

Carvajal: Prejudice
Posted: at 1:50 pm
AN international movement is growing where theists work with atheists in using advances in science and technology to improve the over-all quality of life on earth for all humans. It is called transhumanism because Christians, for example, who join this movement, transcend their prejudices against science and work closely with non-believing scientists in using scientific technological advances to improve the conditions of life on earth.
The movement in effect affirms on one hand that we do not have to believe in a God to work to improve the human condition and, on the other hand, that the faith of believers in a father-God should result primarily in improved relations and conditions among all of Gods children. Religion and science should, therefore, complement each other for the betterment of the human condition.
In sum, believers or not, we are one human family. We should transcend all our prejudices and instead close ranks to work to improve conditions on earth for the entire family. Prejudice should be overcome. It is anti-human because it degrades brother and sister humans with preconceived negative attitudes that are not based on reason or actual experience.
Knowing this, I wonder if we could not perhaps start a national movement that substantially resembles transhumanism. Can we not transcend our religious and cultural differences and together find ways to improve the over-all condition of not just some but all Filipinos by using all the advances we as a people have made not only in science and technology but also in history, religion, economics and politics?
We have made so much progress in all those areas. Yet the Mamasapano incident seems to have thrown all of it overboard and we are again backpedaling as anti-Muslim prejudices resurrect and thrive to destroy our chances for a better quality of life for all.
Labelling as pro-Muslim those who present a sober historical and social justice perspective to the Mindanao problem is anti-Filipino. It leads to a hardening of positions and scares the timid from coming out with good ideas for fear of being condemned as pro-Muslim.
It is also anti-Filipino for politicians with entrenched vested interests to ride the wave of prejudice against Muslims in trying to take over power if possible without benefit of popular election.
It is most anti-Filipino to advocate for war in Mindanao. For who will be the victims? Muslim and Christian ordinary civilians and rank and file soldiers. Meanwhile politicians control the war in the relative comfort of their palatial homes.
Peaceful living is the only pro-human, hence, pro-Filipino position. This can only be attained by being in a big way trans-human and overcoming prejudice.
