Sunni Coln Loses Himself In The Subtleties Of Love On Little Things – The FADER
Posted: August 13, 2017 at 4:42 am
Airy Los Angeles singer Sunni Coln is touched by a love that goes beyond the surface in his new song, "Little Things." He coasts over the funky Kaytranada-produced track, crooning about his blossoming bond, and comparing the magnetic attraction between him and his muse to the power of the night sky's constellations. "It's the little things that matter, to me/ When you make me feel important/ When you make me feel like matter, pull me," he sings.
"When I first heard the chords on 'Little Things' I immediately grabbed my guitar and jammed out over it for about an hour,"Coln told The FADER over email. "A week later, l sat in my room with my electric guitar and began writing. The lyrics stem from mindfulness while living in this beautiful yet chaotic world. Around the time I wrote this song I dived pretty deep into Alan Watts and would only listen to him and play guitar."
He continued, "This quote by Alan Watts really stuck with me when I would get caught up into bullshit: 'I have realized that the past and future are real illusions, that they exist in the present, which is what there is and all there is.'
"Im having a conversation about love and appreciating the present moment, without fixating on the past or future. Its the little things in life that we as humans sometimes take for granted, and I decided to create a song that enables us to see through a conscious lens."

Topsy-Turvy World Murcury Retrogrades in Virgo | The Free Weekly – The Free Weekly

Advice
Mercury in Virgo turns (stationary) retrograde Saturday, August 12th, at 6pm (west coast time) and lasts three weeks (till September 5th). For five days, as September begins, Mercury retrograde back to Leo. Mercury retrogrades from 11 degrees Virgo back to 28 degrees Leo. Where are these degrees in everyones charts? That area of life is affected.
To understand how to use retrogrades, we use re words. Redo, review, re-visit, re-frame, re-think, re-examine, re-evaluate. Which we do with all ideas, thoughts, plans, studies and agendas created since Mercurys last retro, (April). We look back, re-assess, refine, while also resting and recuperating from a mind exhausted with too many facts.
Lets review our (non) actions during retrogrades. We dont create new plans or projects, purchase important items (cars, houses, appliances, clothes, gifts, etc.), contracts arent signed, agreements arent made, money isnt borrowed or loaned and we dont expect clear communication or many aware drivers. We know everythings overlooked, messages arent received, details are neglected, keys are misplaced, informations off-center, minds constantly change, thoughts turn inward, and questions arent answered. In other words, possible havoc everywhere with everyone.
During Mercury retro, we display Virgo tendencies, becoming internally analytical, mentally organized, discriminating, detailed and practical. However, none of this externalizes because our minds are inwardly reorganizing, evaluating and reflecting.
How do we respond? We consider Mercury retro an experiment everyone is participating in. Its a magical mystery time to observe with intelligence, knowledge and, above all, humor.
ARIES: Everything concerning daily life is re-evaluated. Review daily plans, surrounding environments and those around you on a daily basis. Assess in what way you want to shift, change and adapt to make life more orderly and pleasant. You realize you must think differently from now on how to bring forth more beauty and perfection. Careful communication is needed with coworkers. Also assess the state of your health, diet, exercise and how you awaken each day.
TAURUS; Interesting situations and communication may occur with lovers, children, and your own sense of creativity. Issues not yet resolved in relationships will reappear. Try to listen to the core message of all communications. Dont react or defend. These destroy. Instead, learn to listen carefully. The unresolved issues must be dealt with or there will be a dissolving and dissolution of important connections soon in the future. Assess everything with care.
GEMINI: Everything about home, family, early life, mother, real estate, things domestic, comes into focus and will need careful evaluation and assessments. Make no important decisions unless an emergency occurs. Remember everyone in the family is experiencing the present astrological transits. And everyone is experiencing them differently. Use your Gemini mind and heart to observe and discern the differences. You remember to be non-judgmental, non-critical and loving (your purpose).
CANCER: Cancer (sign of the crab) always circles a situation, entering the center from every direction. They do not walk a direct line to anything for they are always wary of prey. Thus, they have a very developed intuition. In the next three weeks that intuition will take on a different tone and focus. Care needs to be taken with communication, thinking, writing and driving. Something from the past reappears. Be aware of forgetfulness. In the meantime, you make home beautiful
LEO: Do not create any shifts or waves in your financial picture. No loans (given or applied for), for example. Take this time to review finances, create new budgets (to be applied after three weeks), assess the flow of money (whats coming in, whats going out), the hows and whys of these transactions and review if everything monetary is proceeding as planned. Include a review of precious metals, your values. And tithe.
VIRGO: Are you feeling somewhat distant and unable to communicate feelings? Are others saying youre difficult and distant? During this time, youre very internally focused, assessing all aspects of yourself who you are, why you are, what your values are, your everyday actions, who youre with and why. You review previous choices asking if they reflect your present values, wants, hopes and needs. Hold on. Things change within the month.
LIBRA: Thoughts, ideas, beliefs, decisions and issues not tended to for a long time appear in the present seeking attention and needing re-assessment. Much of your communication may not be heard or understood by others. Therefore, try to be very clear when communicating, speak slowly, listen well. Be non-judgmental, call forth compassion, retreat for a while. This retrograde for you is a time of deep quiet, prayer and understanding forgiveness.
SCORPIO: With friends and in groups all plans may be delayed, changed or not happen at all. Those close to you may seem distant (remember everyones internal during retrogrades), quiet or confused. Friends, places, ideas from the past make contact and you consider returning somewhere, to a place, a group or to friendships from long ago. Allow no heartache or anguish from the past to remain in your heart. Visualize, instead, warm tropical waters.
SAGITTARIUS: Notice if there is sensitivity (extra) around these subjects: money, partnerships, join resources/finances (something from the past?), speaking with superiors, thinking about career choices, communicating with co-workers, being misunderstood while in public, your life path, your future. It seems like every subject is sensitive. During Leo, we stand in the burning grounds, tested. Say over and over, Dont worry. Be happy. Know that youre perfect.
CAPRICORN: Rest a bit for the next four weeks, make no promises or important decisions, refrain from the following signing anything into permanence (it wont be), making travel plans, traveling long distances. Realize thinking, communications, interactions and especially (people) tending to your money (watch carefully) are internally focused so outer orderly realities wont make sense. It will be a crazy, mixed up, topsy-turvy time. Only you will know why. Dont be lonely. Or sad. Continue to do the Alan Watts meditation of laughing all the time.
AQUARIUS: You want to be practical with money and resources. After the retrograde travel would be good. For now, consider new goals concerning money and resources, reaffirm what is of value to you. Eliminate what is no longer useful or what you havent used, touched or looked at in the past several months. Use this retrograde time of Mercury in Virgo to research, order, organize and visualize new ways of living, building community and finding your like-minded companions. Consider all dreams as practical.
PISCES: Maintain clear a communication with partners, intimates and those close to you. All relationships may enter into a phase of mis-understanding, perhaps disappointments, criticisms, over-reactions, mixed messages and perhaps the need to call upon mediation for understanding to occur. Pisces also at this time must begin to assess the value of their own thoughts, decisions and needs and discriminate between the self and their beloveds. A difficult task, but necessary. A new home might be necessary.

My Republica – Conversing with a departed king – Republica

Conversing with a departed king
The unknown and the esoteric have always fascinated me. As a young spiritual seeker, I used to be elated just by the thought of the mystical dimensions of life. There used to be a great longing in me to immerse into these areas and explore the wombs of the esoteric, to understand the mysteries of life, of death and the thin line that separates the two. I had a great curiosity to know what was on the other shore.
Because of this very longing one would find me often at the doorsteps of babas, sadhus, mystics, occultists, psychics and seers. The Indian sub-continent caters as a rich plate of delight for one with such appetite. One finds myriads of techniques available here and thousands who claim to be adept in this science, but of course the garb of a seer serves as the best hide for the frauds and most of the times it is easy to find great thugs and charlatans there than it is to come across a genuine mystic.
When I was young I was much thrilled by the very thought of conversing with the departed souls. And that is how I discovered the Planchette, the method of conversing with departed souls through automatic writing and table turning, which kept me indulged for many years. I had a friend who had great skill in this subject. In fact he had a siddhi. I couldnt call the souls all by myself and needed his help. It was very easy for him; he could call anyone within a minute, including enlightened souls. And our guests included the likes of Shree Aurobindo, Mahatma Gandhi, King Mahendra and many other well-known people. It is a crude method and generally does not help in ones spiritual growth. In 1974 at the time of sannyas when I told Osho about it he didnt like it but seeing my great interest and curiosity, he allowed me in the beginning and didnt stop me but advised me not to misuse the technique. I had great interest in the esoteric and at times my master used to censure me for my inclination. In the beginning Osho allowed me to use this technique and said that I could use it only for the growth of spiritual work. After some years he asked me to totally stop contacts with disembodied souls and asked me to work on getting directly connected with Osho.
Talking to MahendraThe planchette can be a good medium to learn about unknown secrets. I am reminded of the time when we invited the soul of the Late King Mahendra of Nepal and the things he revealed to me. Everything that he said would happen actually happened. The king also revealed to us many other secrets, which are not publicly known, so I am not allowed to mention them here. When one has access to information that is not known to everyone, it is possible to misuse it and that is why my Master warned me against it.
One evening in 1975, I asked him about my past life. At that time I had no idea about it and it was King Mahendras soul that revealed to me for the first time of my royal connections in my previous life. He told me that I belonged to the same group that he was from. He was indicating my life born in a royal family in one of the famous kingdoms in India, which was later revealed to me in Pune.
There were many things that the kings soul revealed to me which astounded me more in retrospect than at the time, as later all of these things actually happened.I asked the kings soul, Have you heard of Bhagwan Rajneesh? This name is getting popular in our world also and many are talking about him, he replied. Are you interested in him? I askedNo, I am not interested in him, the Late king clearly pointed out.Where do you live nowadays, Your Majesty? I asked.I live behind the Pashupatinath temple in the Mrigasthali forest, the soul replied. Are you happy there? I enquired.I am very happy and content here, was the reply of the soul.
It is not a coincidence that some people in this world are born with more privileges than others. Everything is a consequence of the Karmic game. Today when I look at it, I can totally understand why one person is born as a king while another is born as a beggar. King Mahendra is a sannyasin from past life and has a virtuous past. He is a highly elevated soul and it is not surprising that he had more privileges at his immediate service which were bestowed to him right at his birth. When I did more research on this I found out that all Maharajas and rich, famous and charismatic personalities have a virtuous and spiritual past.
Generous soulI have to admit that the kings soul helped me many times and was very generous towards me. At that time, I was working as an engineer for Nepal government. I was transferred to the Soaltee Oberoi hotel to supervise the constructions there. I was not happy with my senior and I wanted to change my job. I decided to go to my royal advisor. The kings soul gave a very strange answer. He asked me not to leave my job and said that my boss would have to leave instead. I couldnt believe what the King had said but unwillingly I listened to him and stayed.
To my utter surprise my senior had to soon leave the job and I was promoted to his position.
Thanks to the science of occult, I was conversing with the former king of my country and I could ask him anything, a privilege that involved utter complexity and least probability in real life. The source to reveal the unknown was at my fingertips. How could I miss this opportunity to ask the question that could accelerate and help the work that I was doing? Is there anyone at the palace who would be interested in Osho? I asked.Birendra has the potential, replied the departed King.
I already knew that King Birendra had a spiritual potential but never in my wildest dream had I imagined that the soul of his father would take his name, and that the present king of my country had the potential to become an Osho disciple. This was in 1975. When I told this story to my master, he approved of Birendras inclination towards spirituality and said that there was great possibility of him walking on a spiritual path.
King Birendra was a very gentle man and was popular with his people and therefore referred as the Peoples King. His leniency and willingness to change according to times and peoples interest proved him as a democratic ruler and everybody loved him. His spiritual traits were evident in his humble and gentle persona. It was not a surprise that Mahendras soul had taken his name.
How can I introduce Birendra to Osho as I know no one in the palace? I askedThe soul immediately replied through automatic writing, Ranjanraj Khanal.
The mediumAt that time I had never heard of this name and didnt know who he was. It was only after a year when this high ranking government officer came to our center Osho Asheesh in Tahachal that I first met Sri Ranjanraj Khanal, who was then the principal private secretary to King Birendra and a spiritual seeker himself. He was brought to Asheesh by Prof. Renulal Singh. To my utmost surprise, all of King Mahendras predictions came true and it was indeed Ranjanraj and Prof. Renulal, who were both his personal secretaries, who first introduced Osho to King Birendra. I sent many of Oshos books to the king through Ranjanrajjee and this is how the king developed his interest in Bhagwan, which only grew with time.
It was because of Ranjanraj Khanal that Osho could come and stay in Nepal in 1986 after being deported from America in spite of the resistance by a religious fanatic group. That time the American administration did not have a good relation with the Osho movement but Birendras government provided us the security and the permission to invite him here. The government provided us all the facilities and told us that Osho could stay here as long as he wanted. But, unfortunately, in spite of Birendras interest in Osho and Bhagwans constantly pointing to Birendras potential of becoming his disciple, it could not happen. The king had also sent a message that as Osho had just been deported from America it was not the right time for the king to meet him. He had said, Keep Osho in here and he can build his new commune in western Nepal. After the media hype cools down I will come to meet him.
King Birendra could not become an Osho disciple and I partly consider it my mistake. I could not come in contact with him personally and I didnt make enough effort for it either. Maybe it was not the existential wish.
In later years also I used to send Oshos videos to the king through my respected friend Krishna Prasad Bhattarai when he was the prime minister of Nepal. Every Wednesday the prime minister used to have a private meeting with the king and before he went to the palace I used to meet him and send Oshos books, cassette tapes and videos with his discourses as gifts for the king. I still remember a Wednesday when I had sent two videos of Osho. I waited for Kishunjee at the prime ministers residence in Baluwatar until he returned from the palace.
After he returned, he said to me, Our meeting lasted for an hour and we spent 45 minutes just talking about you and Osho. We could only spend 15 minutes on our agenda.

Ventnor aerobics instructor to turn 90 – Press of Atlantic City
Posted: at 4:40 am
VENTNOR Dorothy Greene has been leading aerobics classes every day each summer at the Regency Towers Condominiums for decades.
And the residents there love her.
Ive lived in this building for 15 years, and every day from Memorial Day to Labor Day, Im in this pool with her, said Rita Reiter.
I told Dot that if she stops doing these exercises, Im going to sell my apartment, said Barbara Goldberg.
Greene, who lives in Pennsylvania and vacations in Ventnor every summer, turns 90 on Aug. 20.
She has been teaching daily, hourlong aerobics classes in the city for 30 years, Greene said.
This is vacation for me. I dont get paid here. I get paid there, she said. I lead an aerobics class at the Abington Club in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania, during the year. I work there.
Thats where she got her start. She received a free two-week membership to the Abington Club.
I found out there was a pool. The leader of the pool suggested that I get certified, and I did. The rest is history, Greene said.
The buildings residents say they look up to her and throw her a celebration at the end of every year.
This is the best way to start the day, in the water with Dorothy, said Sigal Strauss. She is such an inspiration, and I want to be just like her when I reach 90.
Greenes favorite part of the class?
Just being with people and feeling good after Im done. Then I can sit the rest of the day, she said.

Its remarkable that theatermakers have kept Shakespeares works alive for some 400 years. Its as remarkable that his works can still feel fresh and relevant, done the right way.
And it can be a thrill to see a sizable portion of the citys best actors taking on his roles.
Still, the story, language and subtext must come to life with clarity and purpose. Otherwise, why bother putting on this play?
Rob Clare directs Antaeus Theatre Companys As You Like It, at the Kiki & David Gindler Performing Arts Center through Sept. 10.
What was his concept, his point of view here? Costuming might indicate that the era of his setting is timeless. Other than that, its hard to glean any purpose. And so the flaws in Shakespeares comedy of forgiveness show up glaringly.
It begins as Duke Senior (Bernard K. Addison) has been usurped of his throne by his brother, Duke Frederick (John DeMita), and has retreated to the Forest of Arden. Frederick, however, allows Seniors daughter, Rosalind (Julia Davis), to remain at court with his own daughter, Celia (Abigail Marks).
Meanwhile, two other brothers, the elder Oliver (Daniel Dorr) and younger Orlando (Daisuke Tsuji), sons of Fredericks late friend, live in constant conflict.
Orlando and Rosalind fall in love while at court. Angering Frederick, Orlando must flee to Arden; Rosalind is, coincidentally, simultaneously banished. She and Celia leave for Arden, taking the court jester Touchstone (Adam J. Smith). Rosalind and Celia disguise themselves, Rosalind as a young man, Celia as a shepherdess.
They encounter Jaques (Tony Amendola), the thoughtful observer and cynical commentator on even the happiest of lives in the Forest.
They also encounter shepherd Silvius (Adam Meyer), who pines for the uninterested shepherdess Phebe (Erin Pineda), who falls in love with the disguised Rosalind. William (Ben Atkinson) is smitten with goatherdess Audrey (Elyse Mirto), but so is Touchstone.
Orlando fails to recognize Rosalind but feels a strange connection to the young man she masquerades as. Meantime, Oliver and the disguised Celia fall in love.
Had this play been written today, critics would shred it. In the middle of this idyllic setting, Shakespeare provides a wrestling match. Just as weve started to figure out the characters and their relationships, in wanders Audrey in Act III, Scene 3, and here comes Phebe at Act III, Scene 5. They look like afterthoughts, hastily scribbled in to make a nice quartet of lovers for the big finale.

At the plays end, the four couples marry, whether well-suited to each other or not.
If any of this bothers you, and you seek a plausible explanation for how the playwright of Hamlet could also have penned this one, heed George Bernard Shaw, who wrote of this play that Shakespeare was probably pandering to popular tastes here.
Where Shakespeares other plays delve into psychology and rely for plot points on human behavior and reactions, Shaw wrote that this one went straight for masses-pleasing superficiality, throwing it in the face of the public with the phrase As You Like It.
Still, it has its charms and glories. Memorable characters abound, as do metaphors and similies and perhaps thats the better explanation for the title. Shakespeare promotes pastoral living, kindness to all and gender equality.
So in some productions, it can be a rich, happy tale of love and forgiveness and peace of heart. With no apparent driving force, as here, its just a lot of words.
(This production is double cast; the Acorns cast was reviewed.)

SoundCloud today announced that it has closed the investor round necessary to keep it going for the foreseeable future. As part of the agreement, Alex Ljung will step aside and former Vimeo leader Kerry Trainor will become SoundClouds new CEO, with Mike Weissman as COO. Ljung will stay on to fully focus on the role of the chairman and the long-term. Billboard reports the exact amount of the investment is $169.5 million, which, says Ljung, makes this infusion the largest financing round in the history of SoundCloud.
"All of this together the capital, the capital partners with Kerry and Mike joining our team it puts our company in a really great position to stay strong and remain independent," Ljung tells Billboard. "We see a strong, independent future for the company."
Trainor tells Billboard he will endeavor to pay greater attention to the creators, which includes developing a robust creative toolkit for SoundClouds Unlimited service in hopes of attracting even more musicians to pay for its upper-tier subscription. "Millions of creators choose these tools to share their work with the world, says Trainor, [and] that will remain at the focus and center of the company."
Yesterday, Axios revealed details of a SoundCloud shareholder memo that said the future of the company hinged on a pending reorganization proposal. Though the exact details of that proposal have not been revealed, it appears it was accepted. As part of the new investment, per the memo, SoundClouds new and existing investors will receive Series F stock, a special class of common stock that has seniority and preference, while existing Series E investors will have their liquidity preference cut by over 40 percent.
