George Bernard Shaws Comedy You Never Can Tell came to the stage at the Mineral County Fairgrounds on Wednesday evening. Jim Goss with the Mineral County Performing Arts said they were worried about holding the event outside because of the smoke from area wildfires. However, when show time came at 6 p.m., the afternoon breeze had cleared the air and people brought lawn chairs, blankets and sat on bleachers to enjoy the show.
The 1987 four-act play, directed by William Brown, is set in a seaside town and tells the story of Mrs. Clandon and her three children, Dolly, Phillip and Gloria, who have just returned to England after an 18-year stay in Madeira.
The children have no idea who their father is and, through a comedy of errors, end up inviting him to a family lunch. At the same time a dentist named Valentine has fallen in love with the eldest daughter, Gloria. However, Gloria considers herself a modern woman and claims to have no interest in love or marriage.
The play continues with a comedy of errors and confused identities, with the friendly and wise waiter, Walter (most commonly referred to by the characters as William, because Dolly thinks he resembles Shakespeare), dispensing his wisdom with the titular phrase You Never Can Tell.
For more than five years Montana Shakespeare in the Parks has entertained August audiences in Superior through the Mineral County Performing Arts Council. They are the only professional touring theatre program in Montana producing Shakespeares plays and the only Shakespeare company in the country to reach as extensively into rural areas.

Shaw Festival’s 2018 season has First World War theme – TheRecord.com

NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE, Ont. The Shaw Festival's 2018 season will feature several productions honouring the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War.
The Ontario theatre festival's slate of newly announced shows includes Bernard Shaw's satirical comedy "O'Flaherty V.C," directed by Kimberley Rampersad.
The production centres on a young man awarded the Victoria Cross who is paraded around Ireland to recruit others.
The festival will also stage "Oh What a Lovely War" directed by Peter Hinton, which is billed as a Canadian take on a classic anti-war musical.
Festival artistic director Tim Carroll will team with Kevin Bennett to co-direct Shakespeare's "Henry V," which will be set in the trenches of France in 1918.
Tickets for the 2018 season will be available to Friend of the Shaw members on Nov. 4, and to the general public on Dec. 9.
The festival will also feature "The Orchard (After Chekhov)" directed by Ravi Jain, which will explore the Canadian immigrant experience through a century-old Russian play.
Eda Holmes will direct the 1920s-set musical "Grand Hotel," and Anita Rochon will helm romantic comedy "Stage Kiss."
Shaw will also showcase "Of Marriage and Men: A Comedy Double-Bill," with "How He Lied To Her Husband" and "The Man Of Destiny" directed by Phillip Akin.
The festival playbill also includes the Sherlock Holmes murder mystery "The Hound of the Baskervilles" directed by Craig Hall; "The Baroness and the Pig," helmed by Selma Dimitrijevic; and "A Christmas Carol" directed by Carroll.

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) There was a time when people with diabetes were handled with so-called kid gloves.
The thought at the time was these people were suffering from a metabolic issue and should not exercise too much and need to be particularly careful about injury and other issues. But we have learned over time that a normal lifestyle is the best for patients with diabetes.
In fact one of the key things we have learned is that maintaining a healthy weight and exercising may be one of the best defenses in the battle against the condition.
According to report in the Journal of the American Medical Association, a high amount of exercise and intensity along with a diet plan can actually result in reduction in blood glucose levels among people with Type II or adult onset diabetes.
Many of these patients were able to come off the chronic medications they were taking to treat their diabetes.
It is very important to continue to encourage exercise and not to give up if you have been diagnosed with the condition.

I love comfort food, so its all about making comforting dishes like spaghetti and meatballs, but using turkey because its a leaner meat and adding spinach, Mowry tells Yahoo Style. For me, its about keeping my comfort foods but making healthier alternatives.
As for the kitchen cleanup, Mowrys 6-year-old son, Cree, is no spoiled kid. Shes instructing him to take care of his own mess and not grow up a totally pampered Hollywood child.
Oh yes, honey, not only do I do dishes, but Ive been teaching my 6-year-old to wash out his own plate, says Mowry. When my son is done with his meal, he will take his dishes to the sink and he will wash dishes. He rinses out his plate.
Mowry places a premium on eating healthy while also maintaining her toned body. Like most actors, Mowry watches her diet during the week and exercises daily, doing yoga and spinning. But shes most at home dicing up veggies and feeding her family. Her philosophy is: Keep it simple and dontgo overboard. And sneak in healthy options whenever possible.
I wouldnt survive without a cheat day. Life is too short, and for me, food is pleasure. On weekends, Ill have whatever I want to eat, she says.
On the beauty side of things, Mowry also just debuted a whole new look, which also fits her lifestyle. Her on-trend braids are functional and fun, and came about courtesy of her stylist, Kendra Garvey. It takes her five seconds to get ready in the morning, says Mowry, and makes life that much easier. Plus, it lets her sort of embrace the rainbow hair trend.
My hairstylist said we should add some cool color to my hair, says Mowry. I chose pink and purple because those are my favorite colors. I call this a protection style. I try to keep the heat from my hair. Its also just fun. I can swing my hair back and forth like that.
Good food and great style? Mowry knows how to do life right.

Not sure whether to try juicing or low carb? Well youre probably better steering clear from both if you want a trimmer figure.
New research has revealed the most effective diet for achieving and maintaining weight loss and it doesnt even involve milkshakes or skipping meals.
The extensive study by Ticketgum.com quizzed 1,245 slimmers about which diet plan they follow and whether or not it helped them reach their weight loss goal.
It turns out a whopping 83% of people admitting to hitting their slimming target by following the Paleo diet and 89% achieved their goal weight by combining the caveman eating plan with exercise.

Furthermore 67% of people said they maintained their goal weight by sticking to Paleo principles.
The second most effective diet was Slimming World, which helped 78% of people drop pounds, followed by Weight Watchers which worked for 73% of dieters.
On the less successful end of the scale, just 17% of people managed to lose fat with Slim Fast and only 11% got lean by juicing.
We spoke to Paleo diet specialists Keris Marsden and Matt Whitmore, who answered all your burning questions about the prehistoric eating plan.

What is the Paleo diet?

Bob Harper Shares All the Ways His Life Has Changed Following His Heart Attack – POPSUGAR

Bob Harper is known for his contagious energy, ruthless training tactics, and ability to transform contestants' bodies on The Biggest Loser, but when he suffered a heart attack in February, his life was flipped upside down. Now, Bob, who has recently partnered with Kohl's, is opening up about how much his life has changed, and spoiler alert, it's a lot, so much so that Bob has called it "a metamorphosis."
Being someone who is known for pushing people and going as hard as he can in the gym, Bob has had to slow down his own exercise mentality in ways he never imagined.
"Everything's changed since my heart attack. It's like a metamorphosis; it's self-discovery," he told POPSUGAR. "I was always the CrossFit guy; I was the one that was working out in the gym, just to the point of falling on the ground. And now I'm not really approaching my fitness that way anymore. It feels new."
Bob went on to explain that he's easing his way back into a routine and is doing everything in moderation. He's staying away from lifting "crazy amounts of weight" in order to gain his strength back, and it's a journey that's beyond applause-worthy. And while Bob still loves CrossFit and still does the workouts, he's pulled back on the extreme exertion levels he was doing before his heart attack. He's even opening himself up to new workouts.
"I'm doing a lot of yoga now; I'm doing cycling classes; I'm going to start doing a little bit of running," Bob said. "I'm not needing it to be super explosive all the time."
After his heart attack, Bob abandoned the Paleo lifestyle for the Mediterranean diet, as it's been proven to improve heart health and reduce the risk of a heart attack, stroke, and heart-disease-related death by about 30 percent. But recently, he's moved closer to a vegetarian regimen.
"I've found more balance works for me," Bob said in relation to his diet. "With my health, I have to be aware of fat [levels]. I eat a lot more vegetarian, [and] I've cut out a lot of animal protein." These days, his protein sources come from eggs, Greek yogurt, and the occasional seafood dish.
The celebrity trainer joked that his friends tell him he's "97 percent vegetarian" and he can't help but shrug his shoulders and agree.
As for snacks, his go-to snack these days is carrots and hummus, more specifically the drool-worthy jalapeo hummus from Whole Foods. He's also a sucker for the "forced portion control" of SkinnyPop Popcorn.

For Bob, soda is undoubtedly "a big no" for him. But the mainstay that he had to cut out immediately was Bulletproof coffee, which he used to love. "It was just butter and fat," he said. On his new diet, watching fat intake is key, and it's something his doctors play a part in monitoring.
Not to worry: he's got a stand-in! Bob's a huge fan of LaCroix. Stars, they're just like us! The "addiction is really strong," and we can totally relate. "And I still like my wine," Bob shared; duh.
Bob is the first person who comes to mind when we think of The Biggest Loser, so we were itching to ask him about the show and if after 17 inspiring seasons we'd be getting more. He told us that there have been talks of The Biggest Loser coming back, but probably not anytime soon; "we just need to rest that show a little bit," he said.

Sharing his story to Reddit as user MikeMarx153, the man explained how he started out at 31 stone and four pounds before losing more than 18 stone over two years.
Explaining what he thought was the most important factor in his weight loss apart from diet and exercise, he said: It all came down to flawed thinking. For me, I think the fear of failure was most responsible.
Trying and failing at losing weight would only confirm the worst thoughts about myself. It would be further evidence that I wasnt deserving of a better life.
He revealed it was only when someone at his workplace got weight loss surgery and he knew he could use that as a back-up plan if he was unsuccessful on his own that he was able to consider starting to try to lose weight.
Going in to detail about he got to where he is today, MikeMarx153 said: To lose weight you have to swim against the current. You cant have the meals you see advertised on a regular basis, you cant fall for the latest health fad being pushed. You cant eat mindlessly like the majority of the population.
Weight loss is possible - I think this is another piece of flawed thinking that holds people back. Knowing that weight loss is possible is essential to success because it gives you control.
He also explained: Know what a reasonable amount of food looks like. I can honestly say that I had no idea how much I should be eating, or what it would look like, or what it should make me feel like.
My daily calorie goal has always been 1500, and so I tried to shoot for that, but I felt that I had a successful day if I was below 1700.
I also decided that I was going to quit cheating and eating between meals. No more extra piece of pizza, no more cookies in the break room, no more candy from the candy bowl.
"If I went a bit over 1500 because of my three meals that was one thing, but I wouldnt go over because I was snacking.
He reiterated: Count calories, use a food scale, and be honest with yourself. Plus, my Myfitnesspal journal is public (username mikemarx153), so you can just go there and look at what I did.
His final piece of advice, which comes as another man revealed how he lost three stone in four months, was to get to a place in your diet and exercise regime where its only a matter of time before you reach your goal.
He explained: This advice might be more controversial than it first appears. What it means is that I was often creating a caloric deficit larger than that traditional maximum of 1000 (including exercise). Im not saying thats right for everyone, but it worked for me.
The most important thing is that your calorie level be sustainable, so if you can only create a 500, or 250 calorie deficit, then do that.
As well as his key tips, MikeMarx153 shared some other general advice and said: Focus on the things in your life you enjoy that arent food and see treats for what they are.
Think about your favourite not-so-healthy food. Lets stick with Oreos. Do you realise the amount of Oreos you can eat in a lifetime? Thats tens of thousands of Oreos youll be eating, so you dont have to eat them all today.

Outdoor bike cinema where you cycle to keep the movie playing coming to Wallington next month – Croydon Advertiser

An outdoor cinema will be coming to Wallington in September - the twist being that to power the projector, movie-goers will have to keep pedalling stationary bikes.
Run by bike-powered cinema group Electric Pedals, the pedal-powered open air cinema will see dozens of movie-goers of all ages sitting in excercise bikes kitted out with neon glow lights.
The energy generated by audience members cycling together produces more than enough electricity to power a speaker system, projector and DVD player - meaning people essentially become batteries powering their own film screening.

Putting on the film relies entirely on real-time pedal power, meaning that if the audience stop cycling, the film stops playing.
A statement on the Electric Pedals website reads: "People love to cycle; whether to keep fit, to socialise or to relax. You will find children and adults queuing up to watch the film from the executive bicycle seats, and there is rarely a bicycle free.
"This cinematic experience relies completely on real-time pedal power; there aren't any back-up generators.
"Dynamic and communal, audience participation transforms cinema into an immersive and unpredictable performance where the atmosphere is electric - this is the closest thing to live cinema."

The one-day event will be held in Beddington Park, less than a mile from the Croydon/Sutton border, on September 23, and residents have voted for which film they would like to see.
The choices for the screening were all classic family movies - Ghostbusters (original 1984 version), Grease, E.T., Jurrasic Park and the Lego Movie - with E.T. being chosen as the winner.
The event is free to attend, with Sutton Council which owns the park, funding the event.

Timings and ticket information have not yet been released, but Sutton Council wrote on its Facebook page that further details will be posted on its events page in the next few days.

Operation Nanookis meant to show that the Canadian Armed Forces can operate in the country'smost northern regions and a look inside the temporary operations camp at Voisey'sBay, Labrador makes itclear thatit's no easy task.
"A few hiccups but we'll be able to achieve the aims we wanted to achieve when we started the excercise," said operations officer CaptainBruno Cyr, who has to keep the troops supplied and moving around.
"That's part of the exercise is learning how to move so we'll learn from there and next time it will be even better."
The operation saw its share of kinks. Weather delayed the arrival of most of the troopsfor a couple of days and a broken helicopter windshield meant training scenarios couldn't go ahead as planned.

That leftsoldiers with time on their hands but there was no shortage of activities.
"There's a lot of things. Mostly it comes to your imagination, whatever you can imagine or think up as a game. The sky is the limit, I guess," said Master Cpl.Marcel Richard while playing cards,
"Not everything's going to work out and you have to adapt. It's part of the training and you do the best you can with what you have."
Though not every scenario went ahead as planned, eventually things did get on track.
"It's very important training," Master Cpl. Graham Townsend said as he learned how to put a stretcher in a helicopter.

"When one of our buddies isinjured, when one of our friends is really, really hurt, we have to make sure we can control ourselves to properly get them to the level of care that they require."
Though most of the troops taking part were from other parts ofAtlantic Canada,there were some locals.
"It really helps the Labrador coast for them to show up here," Canadian Ranger Maria Emelia Merkuratsukof Nain said.

"To see [Canadian Armed Forces members] in real life, to see them in person makes us really proud."
The Rangers, a reserve unit that opertes in remote areas, provides a lot of local knowledge for soldiers taking part in the training exercise.
Merkuratsukbecame a ranger because her father was one. She embraces the role.
"I feel like keeping them safe [is] keeping us safe," she said.
The navy, along with a Labrador namesakealso played a role in the operations. The HMCSGoose Bay was helping out moving troops and supplies around.
