Lianas Tea Shop served its first pot on August 13, with an opening ceremony featuring Havering Mayor Cllr Linda Van Den Hende and four other councillors.

Owner Jenny Thompson, who named the business after her middle name, told the Recorder: I finally wanted to get my dream achieved.

I wanted to do something different.

And the tea room, beautifully set in Langtons House, Billet Lane, Hornchurch, has had a successful month, with lots of customers making advance bookings for September.

Jenny said: When people walk in, it is a very relaxing atmosphere, just to come in and listen to vintage music, which isnt over bearing.

The shop is beautifully decorated, with floral cushions and vintage ribbons tying the jars holding the tea leaves.

The tea sold includes the classics of English breakfast and Earl Grey, as well as rarer fruit flavoured specialties and cinnamon chai flavours.

Jenny also serves sandwiches and homemade cakes, which are available in vegan and gluten free varieties.

We also take donations for customers to be able to feed the ducks in the courtyard, she added.

A ‘Soothe’ Moment in a Hectic World: Behind The Music of Shambhu. – HuffPost

Posted: at 8:44 pm

We are the music-makers, and we are the dreamers of dreams,

You will hear everything from jazz to instrumental folk to breezy pop to world fusion and even a hint of new age on Soothe, and it all goes down silky smooth.

--Bill Binkelman, Zone Music Reporter

Music has the power to transform our lives and hence the world.

As I drove to work the other day my mind was spinning with all the things that were going wrong with a remodel of my new yoga studio. It was not the way I wanted to start my day. I knew just the antidote: turn on some heartfelt, relaxing music and center myself in my breathing. I chose the new album Soothe by Shambhu and it did the trick!

Reviewer Bill Binkelman from Zone Music Reporter describes the music: Soulfulness runs throughout each track on Soothe like a slow, lazy brook winding its way through a forest, at times burbling over rocks, and other times flowing serenely with sunlight shimmering off the gently rippling surface.

Soothe not only uplifted my own spirit but I started using Shambhus music as a peaceful backdrop for the yoga classes that I teach. Then I got curious about how Shambhu was able to convey a feeling of calm serenity in his music.

Shambhus adult life has been rooted in spirit. He discovered meditation in college and over time he was inspired to transform his rock style into a serene, instrumental flow that Feng Shui Mommy blogger Bailey Gaddis described as mind medicine.

I was jamming with musicians in New York when I met drummer Narada Michael Walden. He had just connected with meditation guru Sri Chinmoy and his students - guitarists John McLaughlin and Carlos Santana. Narada invited me to meet his teacher and learn meditation. Sri Chinmoy saw music as inspiration, not entertainment, and he encouraged music as a soulful expression of meditation. 18 months later I joined and found myself jamming with Carlos who played a quiet and expressive guitar music. When he played, listeners had their eyes closed, they explored the music inside the silence, and the music expressed a calmness. When we played acoustic guitars as a duo, I could feel my soulful heart. I loved it, and I later brought that experience into my own music.

My music is ideal if you want to unwind and clear the mind. While recording my albums, I dive into my own silence so the music embodies a calm, clear, and beautiful feeling - like a vacation in sound.

Soothe features many great instrumentalists who create a symphony of calming sound, with Shambhu at the helm on acoustic and electric guitars. Musicians include Michael Manring on bass, Jeff Haynes on percussion, Frank Martin on piano, Paul McCandless on reeds, Premik Russell Tubbs on soprano sax and wind synth, George Brooks on soprano sax, Ravichandra Kulur on bansuri flute, Kristin Hoffmann on vocals, Todd Boston on steel guitar, and Gurumurthy V on tabla.

Shambhus music invites the listener to participate in a dream for a better world, which will be created by individuals striving for their own betterment. His music is a pathway of sound into the ocean of love that each of us has within. His message is one of peace and the potential of each of us to reach into the realm of heart and soul.

And that brings me back to music makers and their effect on the world. I quoted

from Ode by Arthur O'Shaughnessy at the beginning of this writing. Further along in his poem, written in 1888, he writes:

For each age is a dream that is dying, Or one that is coming to birth.

The Benefits Of Natural Skin Care Ingredients – HuffPost UK

Posted: at 8:44 pm

'Co-authored by Shawntai Lister-Mitchell, founder of Class and Elegance Bath and Body Care'

This information is not intended to treat, diagnose and cure any disease or illness. Please do your own research on the benefits and safety guidelines of using essential oils and naturalproducts.A lot of the time we buy skin products based on the smell, price, packaging or just because it is a certain brand. I know I have been guilty of doing this several times in the past and I'm sure many of you can relate. Sometimes we don't even realise we are doing this until we are cautioned by a reaction on our skin or a health problem either we or someone close to us experiences.

How many of you actually read the ingredients?

Since having cancer it has made me more mindful of the things I put in and on my body. When it comes to the skin we all have different needs as our skin types vary and it's important for us to learn what our skin type is, in order for our needs to be catered to.

Average skin- A balance of moisture, just the right amount of sebum productionDry skin- Not enough moisture, low sebum productionOily skin- Too much moisture, high sebum productionCombination skin- A mixture between oily and dry spotsSensitive skin- Can be any of the above but it has a reaction to certain ingredients

I now want to introduce you to Shawntai Lister-Mitchell the founder of Class and Elegance Bath and Body Care. She has partnered with mentor academies that teach young girls the importance of education, self-esteem, etiquette, entrepreneurial and life-skill development in order to build our young ladies of today into confident, empowered women of tomorrow. The young ladies also learn how to make natural bath and body care products to enhance their overall well-being.

Do you know what the largest external organ on your body is?

If you said, "skin", you answered correctly.

What is the purpose of our skin? One word sums it up, "Protection".

The purpose of our skin is to protect us from germs and various elements from entering our internal organs. When it's cold outside, it helps keep us warm and when it's warm outside, it keeps us from burning up.

Since skin is our largest external organ, it is vital that we use products that benefit us externallyfrom the outside in.

A survey of over 2,000 women found on average, women use twelve products containing 168 unique ingredients daily and men use six products with 85 unique ingredients. These various ingredients penetrate through the largest external organ and enter our internal organs and blood stream. This affects the overall health and well-being of our bodies.

As a child, I had a love of creation. I loved mixing various perfumes, lotions, and other products and as I grew older, I developed a love for natural bath and body care. My passion for this increased, when I custom made an oatmeal bath for a younger family member during an overnight stay. This family member suffered from eczema and had complaints of itching and bleeding on their skin. Eczema causes inflammation itching and a red scaly like rash on the skin.

It was at that time, that I realised my love for creating natural products, served a greaterpurpose.

As the owner, founder and formulator of a natural beauty brand, I hand-craft products using a combination of natural, organic and locally sourced ingredients. The products are infused with a proprietary blend of aromatherapy and herbal remedies that impact the lives of others by providing solutions for bath, body and skin care needs.

Some of the ingredients used are carrier oils, such as coconut and tamanu oil. Coconut oil is antibacterial, moisturising and has several uses. I've seen articles that document from 50 to 200 uses for coconut oil. Tamanu oil is known for its ability to assist with scarring, eczema and skin rashes.

I also use aromatherapy blends with essential oils. Essential oils are plant based and come from the flower, leaf, bark, and stems of the plant. They can also come from the rind of the fruit, such as lime, lemon, and orange. Citrus oils are some of my favourites because I love the fresh smell and the antiseptic, antibacterial and disinfectant properties.

Essential oils are so powerful, they are diluted by drops. They possess the ability to penetratethrough the skin cells and to the blood stream to provide some of the listed benefits. Someessential oils are said to cross blood into the brain barrier. emotional, mental and physical antibacterial relaxing/calming assists with pain improves digestion helps to detox

One of my favourite essential oils is frankincense. Frankincense essential oil is noted to build immunity, reduce inflammation, assist with age spots, support brain function and is said to help fight cancer cells without harming healthy cells.

I love frankincense essential oil so much that I have an entire line dedicated to it. I am a firmbeliever that in a time where so many chemicals are affecting our health, we must take control of our health and implement the simple things we know can help us on our wellness journey. Here's a list of some of the things I like to do:

1. Drink plenty of water.2. Exercise at least 30 minutes a day. Sometimes, I do 15 minutes, twice a day.3. Eat fruits and vegetables.4. Take time to meditate, pray, recite words of affirmation. Whatever suits you best.5. Take a relaxing bath. Light a few candles, turn on your favourite relaxing music.6. Read a book.7. Take a walk in the park or by the lake.8. Host a brunch for friends.9. Disconnect from the news and media outlets for a few days.10. Try making healthy recipes with your family.11. Watch a comedy.

Remember, the best gift you can give is yourself. Please be kind and loving to your beautiful and amazing self. You are a gift to the world.

Miranda Lambert celebrates five CMA Awards nods after tough week of storm relief – Music News

Posted: at 8:44 pm

Miranda Lambert has thanked fans, friends and music bosses for lifting her up with five CMA Awards nominations after a tough week saving pets in her native Texas.

The country star pulled her commitments last week (ends01Sep17) and worked tirelessly to rehouse and relocate dogs left stranded by Hurricane Harvey, which devastated parts of Houston, through the MuttNation Foundation charity she co-founded with her mother eight years ago.

Still exhausted by the effort, the Mama's Broken Heart singer was relaxing with her own pets at her Tennessee farm on Monday (04Sep17) when she learned she and Keith Urban would be leading all nominees for the upcoming CMA Awards.

Posting a snap of two of her dogs, Miranda wrote: "Good mornin! At the farm celebrating the @cma nominations over coffee with 7 of my best friends. I'm so thankful. Especially after an emotional week in my home state.

"Country Music and animals is are my absolute life and my heart. Thank you fans, friends, family and Nashville for always supporting me. Now off to put some Bailey's (Irish cream liquor) in this Folgers cup (of coffee)! Why not? Cheers y'all!"

Lambert is up for Female Vocalist of the Year and Album of the Year at the CMA Awards, which take place at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee on 8 November (17).

Her run of winning six straight Female Vocalist of the Year titles was snapped by Carrie Underwood last year (16), but Carrie and Miranda will be battling for the prize again in 2017, alongside young stars Kelsea Ballerini and Maren Morris, and country veteran Reba McEntire.

Lambert has 13 lifetime CMA Awards.

New online organic food company is the first of its kind! – The Daily Meal

Organic Grains offers shoppers one of the largest selections of organic whole grains to be sold online, plus the first ever milled-to-order flour on the market

DENVER, Aug.29, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Organic Grains, LLC, a healthy, grain-centric food start-up, announces the launch of Organicgrains.com. Every product on their site is organic, making them a one-stop-shop for grains and flours. Organicgrains.com boasts one of the largest catalogs of organic grains on the web and offers products ranging from 1 lb. to 5 lbs. in size. The site also includes a myriad of recipes.

"We are committed to providing healthy, organic grains and organic flours to our customers. Grains are the unsung heroes of the past and of the future, and we want to get their story out there. Most people aren't familiar with all the grains that have been staples around the world for millennia, many of which are high in protein, fiber and even omega 3s. It's time all those grains were brought together in one place." Tim Devey, Director of Organic Grains.

MILL-TO-ORDER: Doing what no other company has done before!

Traditional flour bought in grocery stores has typically been sitting on shelves for months, sometimes up to a year, before it reaches a consumer. Organic Grains' flours are the only flours on the market that are custom milled-to-order and delivered within days. Because of this process, Organic Grains produces some of the freshest organic flours.

Organic Grains is committed to making organics affordable. Shipping is a flat rate of $4.99. Whether you order one bag of grain or fifty bags, it is still $4.99 shipping anywhere in the contiguous USA.

In the coming months, Organicgrains.com will deploy an aggressive growth plan. A sneak peek of things in the works includes gluten-free options and a subscription service that will introduce customers to grains from around the world.

To learn more about Organic Grains, LLC. visit Organicgrains.com or follow them on Facebook.

About Organic Grains, LLCOrganic Grains, LLC was started by leaders in the grain manufacturing industry. They noticed that consumers had to bounce from store to store to find organic grains. Thus, they came up with organicgrains.com, a one-stop-shop for grains and flours.

Will $6 Avocado Toast Help Walmart Compete With Amazon’s Whole Foods? – Eater

Posted: at 8:43 pm

The first location of Shannon Allens organic fast-casual concept Grown hadnt been open for more than three months before members from Walmarts development team came in asking for her. They wanted to know more about the Miami-based restaurants mission and how Allen and her husband, two-time NBA champion Ray Allen, were able to produce certified organic meals in under five minutes. They were apparently impressed with the popularity of the restaurant, which had lines stretching out the door.

Then they said this magic sentence: Can you do this in a Walmart? Allen says. And for me it was really overwhelming.

Allen wasnt sure if she wanted to expand so quickly, or with such a powerhouse like Walmart. But after some time she decided that a Walmart location could be a way to get her organic food in front of everyday people. The concept, now with six locations, opened in a Walmart Supercenter in Orlando this August, and could be just the first in a series of changes Walmart will implement to boost its status in a rapidly changing industry.

With digital behemoth Amazon plowing through every food retail space it can, from restaurant delivery to grocery stores, many retailers are scrambling to keep up or reinvent themselves. Walmart, for instance, acquired online market and grocer Jet in early August amid rumors of Amazons impending purchase of Whole Foods. In its partnership with Grown, Walmart is trying to push the notion that it is the largest seller of organic food in the country, despite Amazon's Whole Foods takeover.

In a statement sent to Eater, a Walmart spokesperson said the retailer, which caters to consumers seeking an affordable price point, is aiming to make organic food more accessible and affordable to its shoppers. That happens to be what Allen set out to accomplish with Grown, she said expose people (not just Whole Foods shoppers) to prepared organic meals, even if said meals are more expensive than traditional fast food. At Grown, cold pressed juices go for $9. There is also a $6 avocado toast, while sandwiches, salads, and wraps go for $11 without protein (an additional $4 to $7). Allen points out that the childrens menu is sold at much lower prices ($5 to $7 per kids meal) and that she hopes to make options more affordable with the addition of half portions.

On Walmarts end, it doesnt hurt that Allen and her husband are notable figures, says grocery marketing expert Phil Lempert. Shannon recently hosted a cooking show, The Pre-Game Meal, dedicated to healthy food cooked by celebrities and athletes. And her husband Ray, a basketball Olympic gold medalist, is known for having one of the best free-throw shots in the NBA.

What it does is it really broadens the scope of organics, Lempert says. Its not Gwyneth Paltrow, its not some fussy celebrity who eats nuts and berries, who people cant relate to. People can relate to Ray and Shannon.

This would be a contrast to Whole Foods, infamously dubbed Whole Paycheck by critics and consumers who balk at its prices, which for years have been higher than other mainstream grocers. Amazon lowered Whole Foods prices earlier this week and also made a promise to make healthy and organic food affordable to everyone.

But If Whole Foods is attempting to steal Walmarts shoppers, it will be a struggle for them, Lempert says. I dont think [Amazon and Whole Foods] want the Walmart shopper; and they shouldnt, Lempert says. The space is big enough where to go and fight Walmart on food, neck and neck, is going to be tough, because that Walmart shopper is really focused on price.

In many other ways, the Amazon/Whole Food acquisition will change the supermarket and retail game forever. Meanwhile, stocks for traditional grocers are dropping as Amazon spikes with each new Whole Foods merger update.

This is where restaurants can possibly save the day for retailers like Walmart. Adding restaurants to retail and grocery businesses expands or promotes the larger brand, Lempert says. What they really want is to be all food, all the time to all people, Lempert says. In Walmarts case, organic food service drives home their pitch that they are one of the largest sellers of organics, and are affordable on top of that. So what this does is really gives them a badge, Lempert says.

Retailers have been introducing fast-casual restaurant concepts into their stores for some time now. In 2015, Target launched a push toward healthier, higher-quality eateries beyond the typical Pizza Hut or Subway counters commonly found there. Many Macys locations have hosted food courts and full-service restaurants for years, while the owners of clothing brand Urban Outfitters purchased Pizzeria Vetri and its sister restaurants in early 2016, stationing some locations in or near the apparel stores.

Walmart has been late to the game, but is set to make up for it. In February, a Chobanis Cafe opened in a Walmart in Tomball, Texas near Houston. And depending on how well Grown does in Orlando, Walmart shoppers could see more higher-end, health-focused concepts in their stores. They wont necessarily be Grown locations, though Walmart is testing Grown in Orlando, but no other deals have been confirmed.

If this works, I wouldnt be surprised to see this roll out very, very quickly nationwide, Lempert says.

If not in Walmart stores, future Grown locations might be in large venues with captive audiences, Allen says. Two of them are already housed in the Miami Dolphins Hard Rock stadium, and there is one in a university bookstore.

I really believe captive audience spaces are the places where we should live, Allen says. And if Walmart says theres more opportunity for us to make organic and prepared meals available to more people in this country, and it makes sense for us, and we have a team in place to do that, then our answer would be a resounding yes.

Customers probably wont have to wait long before a Walmart Grown or similar fast-casual location comes to a store near them. As grocery stores evolve, the grocerant and retailerant concept will become more prevalent. Whole Foods is already dominating the field, and with Amazons purchase could up the ante. In this new age of retail, people who once felt detached from organic or fast-casual fare will have better access to it, Lempert says. And thanks to its reach, Walmart could be a major player in that shift.

Whats great about this, Lempert says, is unlike putting [Grown] in Whole Foods or somewhere else, this is great food for the masses.

LUTZ (FOX 13) - A Lutz farmers market didnt always sell organic fresh food.

The family who owns and operates Cheyennes Country Thangs used to own a construction company, but back when the economy took a dive, they began spending more and more time in their backyard gardens.
