China Online Education Group (ASX:COE) has returned 17.69911504 after closing at $ in the recent session. The stock is looking to return closer to the 52-week high of $9.78.

Many investors may strive to be in the stock market when the bulls are running and out of the market when the bears are in charge. Investors often use multiple strategies when setting up their portfolios. Some may rely solely on fundamental analysis, technical analysis, or a combination of both. Investing can be an extremely tough process. Individual investors often strive to gather and analyze vast amounts of information in order to make educated decisions. Often times, investors may have initial success in the stock market, and then things may turn sour. Confidence may be necessary to make the tougher decisions, but overconfidence may lead to an underperforming portfolio. Overconfidence may cause the investor to make poor decisions because they are relying too heavily on personal interpretations.

Taking a look at some key pivot levelswe note that the one month Pivot Woodie support stands at 4.51255 while 1-month resistance level is at 6.78745. On the other hand shares would see support at the 1-month pivot woodie of 4.51255 and resistance at 6.78745. One of the key differences in calculating Woodies Pivot Pointto other pivot points is that the current sessions open price is used in the PP formula with the previous sessions high and low.

Changing lanesover to oscillators, wesee that the Aroon Up oscillator iscurrently 64.28571429 while the Aroon Down shows 7.14285714. These are useful in determining if a reversalmight be in the near future. Given the Ultimate Oscillator number of 66.03223818 and ParabolicSAR number of 5.96415999, combined with other variables, China Online Education Group (ASX:COE)places the shares on investors notable watchlists.

When dealing with the stock market, investors may seek to make trades that will limit regret and create a sense of pride. Often times, investors may be challenged with trying to figure out the proper time to sell winners or let go of losers. Of course, nobody wants to sell a winner if it looks like there may be more profits to be had. On the other hand, nobody wants to hold on to a loser for so long that severe losses pile up. Investors often need to assess their own appetite for risk. Some may be able to stomach large swings on a daily basis. Others may not be able to take the volatility when dealing with riskier investments. Risk decisions may be made on past outcomes, and investors who have experienced previous profits and gains may be more likely to take a bigger risk in the future. Those who have only seen substantial losses may be more risk adverse in the future.

Investors will be closely watching to see if the firm can move towards the $25.24 time high as the Bull Bear Power number stands at 1.02206113.

Conservative Party caught out by Facebook spreading fake news online – The Canary

Posted: at 2:24 pm

Facebook has caught the Conservative Partys official page changing a BBC headline to push its propaganda. And the social media giant has taken the post down in response.

The Conservatives had put out an ad on Facebook referencing a BBC article. But as the BBC reported, they had apparently edited the headline:

The ad carried a BBC logo and headline saying 14 billion pound cash boost for schools despite thestory it linked to putting the figure at 7.1bn.

The BBCs head of statistics previously stressed that the ruling partys misleading figures would make the government seem more generous than it is in fact being. Shadow education secretary Angela Rayner, meanwhile, had called the funding plan a con trick stressing that it would fail to reverse previous cuts.

Many people were rightly concerned about the Conservatives faking the news articles headline:

Facebook said it would hold onto the ad as an example of how its tools are misused. The chief executive of anti-disinformation charity Full Fact, meanwhile, insisted:

It is wrong for the work of independent journalists to be altered in this way and misleading for readers. This government has previously agreed that UK election law must be updated and that the integrity of our elections is at risk. With an election increasingly likely, emergency legislation is needed to ensure online campaigning and advertising is truly open and transparent.

The Conservative Party has claimed it was not our intention to misrepresent.

The education startup doing what universities can’t – The Age

Posted: at 2:24 pm

Kroonenburg started A Cloud Guru in 2015 with his brother Ryan, who uploaded a series of training seminars online that went viral, making him "a geek celebrity".

He built the online training provider in four weeks from his bedroom; now the startup employs 137 people and has raised $63 million from investors, including Australian venture capital fund AirTree Ventures and US-based Summit Partners and Elephant Partners.

You will learn something and two days later it is out of date.

The typical A Cloud Guru online course takes around three months to complete and costs $US250 ($365) for a certification for a business like Amazon, Google or Microsoft.

"There's just so much demand for tech talent," Kroonenburg says. "And there are a lot of smart people out there, but there are a lot of barriers in the way, like going and getting a four-year degree and the money that it costs to do that."

Based out of Melbourne, A Cloud Guru has been global since day one, with 60 per cent of its customer base in the United States and only about 5 per cent of its revenue from Australia.

Kroonenburg declined to detail the startup's turnover but says it is "multimillion dollar" and says A Cloud Guru is mainly profitable.

He juggles his role as chief executivewith being a father of five and Kroonenburg says he thinks of A Cloud Guru as a sixth child.

Brothers Ryan and Sam Kroonenburg have grown a global online learning business from Australia.

"It's definitely as demanding, if not more demanding," he says. "My wife and I are very much a team. You know, she's as much an owner of the business as I am. And she's been my biggest supporter, and the biggest help through the ups and downs."

Kroonenburg says he wants to focus on A Cloud Guru making the most of the "huge opportunity" in the market as the world is disrupted by cloud computing.

Loading

"Every company on earth is trying to move to cloud and there's just not enough talent out there to help them. At the same time, there's millions of people whose jobs are being displaced by tech," he says.

James Cameron, partner at AirTree Ventures, says A Cloud Guru is the fastest growing startup in the venture capital fund's portfolio besides Canva.

"They have been quite under the radar; Sam is a guy who has his head down building a business," he says.

Cameron says the challenges for A Cloud Guru is competing with other startups in the same space, including Pluralsight, Coursera and Linux Academy.

"They have to stay one step ahead of the game and continue building great content and finding great educators to provide that content," he says.

Fayetteville Public Education Foundation aims to raise $3 million – Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

Posted: at 2:24 pm

FAYETTEVILLE -- The Fayetteville Public Education Foundation is on a mission to raise $3 million in hopes of making a greater impact on the city's public schools.

The Reaching New Heights campaign wants to increase the foundation's endowment to support larger grants for teachers, said Cambre Horne-Brooks, executive director. Such a campaign is a first for the foundation in its 27-year history, she said.

Requests vs. Grants

Teacher grant requests to the Fayetteville Public Education Foundation have exceeded the amount allotted for the past several years.

201820172016*2015

Requested$528,816$586,09$436,030$520,741

Granted$150,702$141,869$131,675$122,840

Source: Fayetteville Public Education Foundation

Greg and Hannah Lee are leading the campaign, which took shape early this year. The couple donated $100,000 to the campaign, according to a foundation news release.

"There have been some innovative programs funded by the foundation that otherwise would not have been made available to Fayetteville students," said Greg Lee. "We appreciate the opportunity to support education and kids."

The Lees are Fayetteville High School alumni, their two children are alumni and they have four grandchildren coming up through the school system.

Jack and Anne Butt are honorary chairs of the campaign. Jack Butt founded the foundation.

The campaign is in its "silent phase," as officials connect with individuals who have supported the foundation in the past, Lee said.

Horne-Brooks refused to say how much has been raised so far, but said she'd give an update when the foundation has a public event this fall to promote the campaign. She expects the campaign to take 18 months to two years.

The endowment has about $4 million. Its principal isn't spent.

The foundation awards grants twice a year for projects and activities that "go beyond the normal classroom experience," according to its guidelines. Teachers, staff members, parent groups, businesses and other nonprofit agencies may apply for grants. A committee from the foundation's board of directors reviews and awards grants based on its policies and procedures.

The teachers' needs are outpacing resources, Horne-Brooks said.

Teachers submitted more than $500,000 in requests in the last cycle, but the foundation was able to cover only $150,000 from its income, she said. The group provided $19,000 in scholarships, despite $243,000 in requests, according to a foundation report.

A $250,000 gift in 2016 from the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation created the Neal R. Pendergraft grant, which allows teachers to apply for grants of up to $25,000. Standard grant requests may not exceed $10,000.

Last school year, the foundation awarded three Pendergraft grants worth a total of $31,675, including $9,000 to help send students on an overnight trip to the Ozark Natural Science Center near Huntsville.

Introduction of the Pendergraft grants demonstrated teachers had ideas for projects and programs that were larger and more systemic than could be funded with standard grants, Horne-Brooks said.

Money raised through Reaching New Heights will allow the foundation to award grants of between $25,000 and $200,000 for big projects, she said. Areas the foundation hopes to impact include early childhood education, after school and vocational programs and programs that help students get into college and pay for college.

John L Colbert, the School District's superintendent, said in statement the district is blessed to have an organization in the city like the foundation.

"They have been a wonderful partner for Fayetteville Public Schools since 1992, and this new campaign will enable them to provide even more funds for innovative and creative projects in our schools. With their strong support, our district's vision of being 'the trusted leader in Arkansas public education where every student achieves his or her full potential' is even more attainable," Colbert wrote.

The foundation is a nonprofit organization separate from the district.

Lee acknowledged there are numerous worthy charitable causes across Northwest Arkansas, and people have to choose which ones to support. The foundation has a solid history of meaningful contributions to the district on which to base its campaign, he said.

"We think it has great merit and are hopeful the community will support it," Lee said.

Among foundations that support Northwest Arkansas' other large school districts, Springdale is the only one that operates an endowment.

The Springdale Public Schools Education Foundation has an endowment of about $1.6 million that provides college scholarships, and it paid out $86,500 this past year, said director Chris Stecklein.

The foundation last year launched another endowment to support teacher grants. That endowment is named after Walter Turnbow, a former School Board member and community leader who died Monday.

"It's in its infancy," Stecklein said. "It's really small. It's going to grow over time, unless we get a windfall gift."

Why the 4-year college or university degree isn’t for everyone – CBC.ca

Posted: at 2:24 pm

Education beyond high school is important for many people, but the four-year college or university model isn't always for everyone. Luckily today's high school graduates have several options open to them. Students can learn high-demand skills and land well-paid jobs without ever setting foot on a university campus.

There are plenty of online resources for those looking to upgrade their skills. For example, the University of People is a tuition-free, accredited university that offers associate and bachelor degree programs in business administration, health science, computer science, and education.

While "tuition free,"they do charge administration fees:$100 US for undergraduate courses and $200 US for graduate courses. The total cost for a typical four-year bachelor's degree is $4,060 US.

Unlike traditional post-secondary institutions, fees are paid toward the end of the course so if a student loses interest in the subject they can drop out without cost. This easy/no-cost drop option is good and bad.

It's "good" in that students can test drive many different subjects, but "bad" as I think it makes quitting far too easy. I'd prefer it if students paida portion of the fees upfront as it would help motivate them to complete the course.

Other distance/online education sites worth considering are Coursera, EdX, Khan Academy, ITPRO.TV, Lynda.com and Udemy.

The costs vary with each some charge per course (in the $0 to $100 range), whereas others are based on a subscription model, with unlimited access to courses for $29 to $50 US per month.

These are just a few examples, not an exhaustive list. You should do your research and find a program that works best for your budget, learning style, and career progression.

While online courses are cheaper and allow for more flexibility, they aren't for everyone. Some students need the structure of a classroom and scheduled classes and may struggle with the discipline needed for self-study. Online courses also do not allow for the "college experience" students miss out on the connections and social benefits of being on campus.

At the end of the day, no matter where a person receives their education, it comes down to the skills and knowledge gained. If a student has marketable skills, they are far more likely to find a job.

Also keep in mind that newer industries, such as technology, are more open to hiring graduates with online certificates and degrees, than employers from traditional industries.

In my case, prior to enrolling in a college, university or trade school, I would like to see my children take their time to experience different things so they can see what excites them before choosing a career path.

When or if they choose to pursue post-secondary education, they should then approach it like a business decision by asking themselves: "What is the expected return of my chosen degree? Is it worth the time and debt that is often incurred,or would my time and money be better served doing something else?"

If my kids decide not to start their post-secondary education straight out of high school, I'm fine with them entering the job market and first getting some experience.

On-the-job training is often overlooked as a legitimate way to upgrade skills. Simple habits such as showing up early, having integrity in the workplace, and treating customers and co-workers with respect are in high demand for most employers.

For new high school graduates, I recommend trying different jobs to see what comes naturally, then, if it makes sense, they can go back to school.

Often working for a couple of years before going to college pays dividends.Mature students tend to have clearer career goals, can bring their work experience into the classroom, and if they saved properly, might not have to take on student debt.

Another option for many is to start their own business. If this is of interest, I recommend doing this whether you attend school or not. It's empowering and, in many cases, doesn't take much in the way of capital to get started.A good resource is the book, The $100 Startup. There is little risk if the business fails but so much to gain if it succeeds.

China Online Education Group (COE) Volume Trending Higher – Cedar Park Times

Posted: at 2:24 pm

Shares ofChina Online Education Group (COE) have seen the volume moving average (VMA) climb over the past seven sessions. The stock recently touched6.65, or a change of-0.55 from the most recent open.

The direction of stock market moves in the short-term are highly unpredictable. Many investors will be tempted to ride the wave whether the trend is buying or selling. Fearful investors may make hasty decisions such as panic buying or selling. Investors may feel compelled to buy stocks after a major run higher. This can be related to the fear or missing out. On the other end, investors may be quick to sell quality stocks when the market is in the midst of a broad sell-off. This behavior often translates into falling into the trap of buying high and selling low.

Looking at the current landscape of the equity market, investors may be doing some bargain hunting for stocks to add to the portfolio. Many sharp investors will welcome temporary market dips which may provide plenty of buying opportunities. Being prepared for these types of opportunities can help the investor make quick decisions in the midst of a downturn. As we move closer to the close of the year, investors will be closely watching the next round of company earnings reports. Even if the individual investor chooses to trade conservatively during earnings, they can still do the necessary research and have stocks lined up to purchase when the time is right.

A longer period VMA (aka Slow VMA a larger number for the period) is often used to highlight long-term surges in volume. Significant volume surges sometimes precede long-term trend reversals. A shorter-period VMA (aka Fast VMA a smaller number for the period) is often used to highlight short-term volume surges, which may precede short-term trend reversals. Watch out when selecting your period for your VMA to avoid setting your period too high or too low, as the volume will either be smoothed out too much or be too erratic for practical use.

Turning to technicals, shares of China Online Education Group (COE) have a 200-day moving average of 6.42. The 50-day is 5.85, and the 7-day is sitting at 6.19. Using a wider time frame to assess the moving average such as the 200-day, may help block out the noise and chaos that is often caused by daily price fluctuations. In some cases, MAs may be used as strong reference points for spotting support and resistance levels. Employing the use of the moving average for technical equity analysis is still highly popular among traders and investors. The moving average can be used as a reference point to assist with the discovery of buying and selling opportunities.

China Online Education Group (COE)s Williams Percent Range or 14 day Williams %R currently sits at -23.26. The Williams %R oscillates in a range from 0 to -100. A reading between 0 and -20 would point to an overbought situation. A reading from -80 to -100 would signal an oversold situation. The Williams %R was developed by Larry Williams. This is a momentum indicator that is the inverse of the Fast Stochastic Oscillator.

China Online Education Group (COE) currently has a 14-day Commodity Channel Index (CCI) of 117.2. Active investors may choose to use this technical indicator as a stock evaluation tool. Used as a coincident indicator, the CCI reading above +100 would reflect strong price action which may signal an uptrend. On the flip side, a reading below -100 may signal a downtrend reflecting weak price action. Using the CCI as a leading indicator, technical analysts may use a +100 reading as an overbought signal and a -100 reading as an oversold indicator, suggesting a trend reversal.

Currently, the 14-day ADX for China Online Education Group (COE) is sitting at 27.15. Generally speaking, an ADX value from 0-25 would indicate an absent or weak trend. A value of 25-50 would support a strong trend. A value of 50-75 would identify a very strong trend, and a value of 75-100 would lead to an extremely strong trend. ADX is used to gauge trend strength but not trend direction. Traders often add the Plus Directional Indicator (+DI) and Minus Directional Indicator (-DI) to identify the direction of a trend.

The RSI, or Relative Strength Index, is a widely used technical momentum indicator that compares price movement over time. The RSI was created by J. Welles Wilder who was striving to measure whether or not a stock was overbought or oversold. The RSI may be useful for spotting abnormal price activity and volatility. The RSI oscillates on a scale from 0 to 100. The normal reading of a stock will fall in the range of 30 to 70. A reading over 70 would indicate that the stock is overbought, and possibly overvalued. A reading under 30 may indicate that the stock is oversold, and possibly undervalued. After a recent check, the 14-day RSI is currently at 60.8, the 7-day stands at 64.94, and the 3-day is sitting at 57.99.

New traders may face many challenges when entering the stock market. One of the bigger challenges involves not repeating mistakes. As with any new endeavor, there will be a learning curve. Paying attention to historical trades can help the trader figure out where they might have gone astray. Repeating the same mistakes over and over again can lead to the demise of the traders confidence and hard earned money. Traders who are able to move forward and learn from previous errors may find themselves making much better decisions in the future.
