Trump is angry with Mick Mulvaney for contradicting him on motivation for Ukraine call: report – Raw Story

Posted: October 20, 2019 at 9:09 am

Appearing on CNN's "New Day" early Sunday morning, contributor April Ryan said that recent polling showing the public wants Donald Trump impeached is a sign that his old tricks are no longer working.

Speaking with host Victor Blackwell, Ryan said that it is not good news that polling supporting impeachment is holding firm as the president tries to dismiss his bevy of latest scandals including his quid pro quo phone call with the president of Ukraine and his now-aborted plan to hold the G& at one of his golf resorts.

"It's not good news for the president at all," Ryan began. "These polls are not only staying steady, they are consistent with other polls. A slight majority of Americans want this impeachment inquiry. And when you get to things where we understand, you know, this is tit for tat and quid pro quo as [acting chief of staff Mick] Mulvaney was saying, people understand this."

Bills Today: Olympic gold medalist Jordan Burroughs delivers a motivational message to the team – BuffaloBills.com

3. Lorenzo Alexander: There are no egos on this defense

Bills linebacker Lorenzo Alexander was on The Jim Rome Show this week to share his thoughts on Buffalos talented defense. Alexander thinks the sky is the limit for how much the group can grow, one reason is due to the selflessness.

There are no egos on this defense, Alexander said. Theres no guys that have to be the one to get the sack or have to be the one to make all the tackles.

As a 13-year vet, Alexander has been a part of plenty of defenses. What he likes about this group is the depth.

We have great depth, Alexander said. I mean we have a guy like Taron Johnson go out who is a great nickel for us and we have guys like Siran Neal, Dean Marlowe, Kevin Johnson kind of fill that role by committee. We have other examples at other positions as well, but that is really our calling card is just having great depth, great versatility. Guys can come in no matter who it is and get the job done.

The Miami Dolphins announced Wednesday that Ryan Fitzpatrick would start at quarterback, but the Bills will be ready to see Fitzpatrick and Josh Rosen.

At the end of the day you prepare for what their offensive scheme is, obviously each one has their own strengths," Alexander explained. With Rosen right now they are doing a lot of RPOs, getting the ball out of his hands quickly to build that confidence and get some positive yards. When you talk about Fitzpatrick who is a veteran in this league and has been around a long time, he has a great command of the offense already and theyre willing to do a little bit more drop back. Obviously he has something about him when he has his mojo dust about him where he can extend plays, make things happen, guys rally around him.

Uche On The Wisconsin Loss ‘It Gave Us New Motivation, & We Needed That’ – Rivals.com

Posted: at 9:09 am

The Michigan Wolverines football team is an eight-point underdog at Penn State on Saturday night in Happy Valley, and senior linebacker Josh Uche was informed of that fact this afternoon at Schembechler Hall while speaking with the media.

He didnt seem amused by it, however, and had no problem voicing his opinion of the media and the Vegas oddsmakers, and their takes on the Wolverines.

Were always the underdog, he began. Everyone wants to count us out, but thats ok because we love being the underdog.

Thats what we live for it and its what we do, but it only makes us work harder.

The Maize and Blue have won three games in a row following their blowout loss at Wisconsin on Sept. 21, and have seemingly fixed the defensive issues that plagued them in Madison.

After yielding 359 yards on the ground to an elite Badger rushing attack, U-M has since given up an average of 37.6 over its last three games.

Uche revealed that he felt much of the criticism following the Wisconsin loss was due to ignorance, and that it actually served as a bit of a wakeup call for the club.

You guys have been saying we cant stop the run and that were soft, he said this afternoon, referring to the media. Weve framed that in our minds and it has given us a lot of motivation to work harder.

Its that underdog mentality that has given us a new flame. I understand youre not all in the coaches offices and not watching film the way we watch film, so I understand why you would feel that way.

It gave us motivation to execute and do our jobs to a higher level. Executing [has been the difference in us stopping the run now].

It comes down to us doing our jobs at a higher level, and focusing on the little things and the small details. We want to maximize our focus on everything the coaches tell us to do.

This is what we live, breathe and do. I know you guys follow it too and are dedicated, but fans sometimes dont see and understand the schematics of everything, or whats always happening.

Its kind of funny, but can also be annoying it is what it is, because not everyone is a football coach or a 15-year vet of the game.

Theres no way for you guys to know certain things, so thats why there are misconceptions. Its only aspects we understand and that we cant let you guys know, because game plans would be ruined.

The Wisconsin game gave us new life, a new flame and new motivation, and we needed that, to be frank with you. We needed that motivation, and we thank you guys for it.

Uche was also asked about the stretch of games U-M has coming up at Penn State, Notre Dame, at Maryland, Michigan State, etc. and used the word legendary several times to describe what the Wolverines can potentially accomplish over the next month and a half.

The senior explained that the teams success all comes down to execution, and that if they operate to the best of their abilities, the results have a chance to be legendary.

Thats what I tell myself, the Miami native noted. If we execute, theres nobody in the country better than us and thats a fact.

I dont feel like anyone in the nation touches us if we do what the coaches ask of us and execute our game plans. I get myself hyped with the legendary stuff.

Id say the whole team has taken that approach as well.

Mack Brown Wednesday Update: Players motivating themselves, thinking big-picture and the kicking game – Sports Illustrated

Posted: at 9:09 am

North Carolina coach Mack Brown met with reporters following Wednesday morning's practice to provide a final update before the Tar Heels travel to Virginia Tech on Saturday.

Here are the highlights from the conversation:

On his injured right eye

I was on the injury report, but I practiced. I did not miss; I stepped up. They kept staring at me and I finally had to tell them, It is red, you all are right. I said, At my age, only Sally cares; nobody else cares how I look. So, Im fine.

On this week's practices

Practice was really good. It was good yesterday, it was good today. The guys had a lot of energy. Were all excited to go to Blacksburg; its a great environment, its fun. Frank Beamer is a great friend of mine and I look forward to seeing Frank. Its fun to go somewhere where its full, and theyve got a good team and people are excited.

We told our team, we continue to be able to evaluate where we are and how much progress weve made, and hopefully, we took Georgia Tech to a different level with the open date and then we keep getting better as a team. We said its all out there for us, so its on us to play well and win on the road.

On discussing the big picture in the Coastal Division

It was Sunday, but we really havent talked about it much since. Every Sunday, you kind of recap where you are. We put up the records, we put up the standings in the Coastal and we put up the bowls that are out there for us to go to, and we took it down and said, Now youve got to play.

We talked to them today about, It shouldnt be pressure, it should be pleasure. We had a Joe Maddon quote; he said he puts that on his card, his starting lineup every game with the Cubs. I dont want them to feel pressure about the Coastal and I dont want them to feel pressure about a bowl; I want us to get good and if you practice really good every day, then you can be a great team at some point.

On what's going well and what needs to improve

I really like the way our front is playing on defense right now. They played really well at Tech and theyve really done well the last couple of practices here. The offensive lines still got to be more consistent. Yesterday they were OK, today they looked better, but lines of scrimmage is where you win games.

Weve got to get more out of our kicking game. Weve had one kickoff return of significance and we havent had anything out of our punt return, so weve got to do better in those areas.

Have coaches had to motivate players to get going this week?

They have done it themselves this week. We meet every morning at 6:30 before we practice, we have a team meeting. I saw them walk in today and I said, You look a little slow walking in; yesterday you were pumped up. Dont walk out there on that field slow, and stirred them up a little bit. Theyve practiced really well.

The Tuesday, I think, before Georgia Tech maybe Wednesday it was just OK offensively and right now, theyre doing well. Theyre getting after it and Im excited about seeing them play.

On how the players practiced during the open week

What we did is we really worked the young ones who, some of them havent played an any might have a play in four games and redshirt and help us; some might play the last six weeks. So, we pushed them to show us what theyve got. Youre not a freshman anymore, youve been here now some of you since June its time to grow up if you want to play this year.

The others, we really sprinted them a lot, we rant them a lot, but we didnt hit them. (Aaron) Crawfords and (Jason) Strowbridge and our backs, those type guys didnt get hit, so they should be really, really fresh this week.

Most coaches don't like looking beyond the next game. Why are you willing to talk about the big picture with your team?

In my, I think my entire career, but at least here late and all the time at Texas, I wanted to be really honest and fair with the guys. So, it is what it is. We can sit around and say, Next game, and all that but they know, they read, they hear. So, I wanted them to know, Here are facts, heres what you got.

Now, use it to motivate you, forget it, whatever you want with it. Weve got to beat Virginia Tech or this stuff doesnt work, but I think its foolish to sit around and act like its not important. It is important and what I told them this morning is that message of, Dont put pressure on yourself. If youre good enough, it works. If youre not, play your best and well go to the next game.

Does it help a team to talk about playing for a championship?

Absolutely, especially a team that hasnt been successful over the past two years. Theyre proud theyre really proud that in the middle of the season, theyre in the mix for something important. You think about, at least two classes on this team havent been to a bowl game, much less had a chance to be in the mix for a conference title at midseason.

On the kicking game

Its really funny. (Noah Ruggles) missed one yesterday so I let Jonathan Kim kick first today and both of them made it, so were just constantly looking. Ive always said kickers need to make them; I mean, thats important thing. Why kick? Thats one of the reasons when you cross the 50, if its close, I usually go for fourth downs because I cant stand missed kicks. Theyre such a momentum killer because youre trying to go, youre moving the ball, everything is great and then you shove it to the right and you lose everything.

Thats what I thought happened, I thought, our first drive at Georgia Tech after the half if you make the field goal, youre up to 20-0, and it sends a great message to Georgia Tech that its important coming out for the half and then you miss it and it gets them excited. Its really, really important that we make our kicks and improve our kicking.

The other thing is we only kicked one out of the end zone on kickoffs. Michael Rubinos got a sore leg, so hes not kicking as much. Modern day, you need to kick it in the end zone on kickoffs. Most people are, most people are starting at the 25 and you dont need to give a fast team like Virginia Tech a chance to return kickoffs.

With the kickoff guys and the extra-point, field goal guys, we check them every day up until the kickoff. We check them in pregame and we decide in the dressing room whos going to kick off and whos going to do extra point and field goals. It is competition every minute of every day.

Do you have someone on the sideline watching clock and helping manage game situations?

We do and a thing that I would like to see, and I really feel passionate about this, is were seeing enough missed calls in the NFL and in college across the country, I really believe we should say the guy upstairs, the replay official, has the right to overturn anything he sees.

They say, Well, thats not reviewable. Well, it should be if its going to lose the game and the team that plays the best doesnt get the chance to win. So, to me, how hard is to say, call down and say, Pick up the flag thats not a penalty. It helps us, it takes the human error out of it. To me, until we do that, were not going to get it right, but weve got guys looking at it, but normally I see it, and Ive got a pretty good feel of what happens.

If its in the far corner like the Dyami touchdown at Georgia Tech and you cant see it, you go upstairs immediately and say, Lets look at it, but we always have coaches watching the Jumbotron and theyll replay it and you know what to do.

What areas do you feel like officials miss the most?

The two biggest ones are holding and pass interference, those are the ones that come up all the time. The other one is fumble. Its just something that, to me, if a guy absolutely grabs a guy and pulls him down and the guy upstairs sees it and the guy is stumbling and he misses it, call downstairs and say, Thats pass interference, and throw the flag. Or, like the other night in the pro game, pick it up; pick it up, its not a flag, you missed it.

To me, then everybody is better off. The fight against it is that it takes too much time; it really doesnt. If its clear enough for him to say pick it up, then you dont have to take time. Just say, Pick it up.

Ireland not using Joe Schmidt and Rory Best’s imminent departures as motivation, says Simon Easterby – Dublin Live

Posted: at 9:09 am

Simon Easterby insists the possibility that Saturday's World Cup quarter-final may be the last game for Joe Schmidt and Rory Best is not being used as motivation by Ireland.

The duo will step away when Ireland's tournament is over and that is a reality now facing Ireland as the All Blacks will provide the last eight opposition in Tokyo.

"I don't think we'd be thinking about that," said Easterby, who has been an assistant coach under Schmidt since 2014.

"It's the first time I've thought about it, when you mention it. There's lots of guys have their own way of motivating themselves and have different reasons.

"This group has been challenged in lots of different ways in the last couple of months.

"They've been challenged by the media and more importantly they've been challenged by themselves to keep improving, keep pushing.

"I don't think they'll need any extra motivation - it doesn't get any bigger at this stage for us than a World Cup quarter-final against the All Blacks.

"No, we don't need any extra motivation."

Easterby is perfectly placed to explain how Ireland became a consistent winning team under Schmidt.

Now 44, Easterby made 65 Test appearances for Ireland between 2002 and '08, departing from the set-up before the breakthrough Grand Slam triumph the following year.

I wasnt involved in 2013 (against the All Blacks), and unfortunately they came off second best late in the game, but I think the group as a whole have grown the past couple of years," said Easterby.

"The ability to beat teams on our day has gathered pace over the last few years.

As a team we were often gallant losers in my time as a player, we pushed teams close every now and then.

"We had the odd maybe two or three or four game winning streak against the top sides, and then maybe wed fall over.

But the consistency and the confidence that Joe has brought - not just to beat the likes of the All Blacks, but to go to South Africa, to go to Australia and win a series, to win Championships, to win a Grand Slam - the confidence the group has with the game plan, that they have in Andy Farrells defence...

"There's a combination of different things that have come together all at the same time.

"Sometimes when you dont quite get everything right then sometimes were not good enough.

"Weve seen that as well. So we have to be at our best - or close to our best - on Saturday. And if we are, then well push them all the way.

I think they (the All Blacks) know that, but we also have to be wary of the threats that they bring. Joe is across all of that detail, across our mindset and our understanding of what it takes to beat the All Blacks.

"That filters through the group as we go through the week and the confidence that we gain from has been shown in a couple of performances that weve had against them.

Unique Self-Improvement Book ‘The Truth About Love and Fear: Love Controls Our Lives, Fear Determines How We Will Live It’ Presents New and Radical…

Posted: at 9:07 am

Rudolf Eckhardt's new book provides a spiritually focused perspective on human psychology that looks at fundamental emotional forces which drive the sense of finding harmony

SYDNEY, Oct. 14, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ --Author Rudolf Eckhardt presents new, radical, spiritually focused and unconventional ideas that have found a realistic application in life in his new book "The Truth About Love and Fear: Love Controls Our Lives, Fear Determines How We Will Live It." The information and ideas featured in the book are all based on Eckhardt's 28 years of experience and proven results with his patients through his Core Belief Therapy.

"The Truth About Love and Fear" details Eckhardt's idea that one needs to change who they are to permanently change one's life. Instead of just changing what we do, we need to change who we are because the relationship we have with ourselves is that one we have with everyone else. By making this mental transition, we create the opportunity to live the way we ultimately want. Readers will learn how they can live their life without their issues and insecurities by recognizing that fear is the driving force behind everyone's negative life and relationship experiences.

Eckhardt reveals how fear sabotages our ability to be the authentic self, we were born to be, and how it prevents us from fulfilling our human potential as a consciousness, a human being, a partner and a parent. He also explains how unconditional love, acceptance and trust are the essence of our spirit-consciousness, which provides a positive directive on how to live true to our unique nature. Even though unconditional love can never be extinguished as the central force of our consciousness, fear will always seek to dominate our senses and demand we respond to its call.

"My goal for this book is to help everyone find the unique, authentic and spontaneous self they were born to be, by releasing their fear-based, limiting self-beliefs, and thereby give expression to the full potential of who they are meant to be," said Eckhardt.

Love and fear are the most fundamental emotions in life that underpin every aspect of our lives and relationships and yet they are the least understood. "The Truth About Love and Fear" explains how fear is a consistent part of our issues and insecurities and how it takes control over our perception, thoughts, feelings and behaviors. Eckhardt gives step by step explanations, life and relationship examples so that you can gain the clarity and the practical tools you need to take fear out of your life.

Eckhardt has lived in Australia since 1963 after migrating with his family from the Netherlands. He currently lives in Bondi, NSW where he continues his work as a therapist using Core Belief Therapy and is in the process of writing six additional books including his next one, "The Truth About Relationships" which is geared toward dealing with relationship issues of women and men.

Living With Yourself Doubles the Paul Rudd, Doubles the Fun – Vulture

Posted: at 9:07 am

Paul Rudd as Miles and also, Paul Rudd as Miles in Living With Yourself. Photo: Netflix

In the new Netflix series Living With Yourself, debuting Friday, a trip to a top-secret spa results in the generation of two Paul Rudds which, on the surface, doesnt sound like a problem. Who could object to double the Rudd?

But Living With Yourself which stars Rudd as Miles Elliot, a middle-aged marketing executive who seeks out self-improvement therapy and winds up being cloned goes deeper than its surface might suggest. Given Rudds gift for comedy and the shows premise, this series, which starts streaming October 18, could have easily been a shenanigan-filled sitcom filled with misunderstandings and mistaken identities. But as created by Timothy Greenberg, whose writing and producing credits include The Daily Show With Jon Stewart, The Detour, and Wyatt Cenacs Problem Areas, and directed by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris of Little Miss Sunshine fame, its something odder, darker, and more genre-fluid. The best way to describe the tone of Living With Yourself is to say that it possesses the existential concerns of series like Forever or The Good Place, the designed-for-binging narrative style of Dead to Me, and the cockeyed tone of a Charlie Kaufman script. Its Eternal Sunshine of the Cloned Mind.

The first time we see Miles he is emerging from what appears to be a shallow grave where hes been buried and cloaked in cellophane. In Twin Peaksish parlance: Hes not dead, wrapped in plastic. An immediate flashback to 24 hours earlier explains how he wound up in that state while providing some context about who Miles is: a marketing pro whos out of ideas; a disengaged husband who has had trouble starting a family with his wife Kate (Aisling Bea of This Way Up); and a guy devoid of enthusiasm and energy. Basically, hes the word meh in human form.

When Dan (Youre the Worsts Desmin Borges), a co-worker whos been crushing it at the office, tells Miles that he became a better version of himself after a trip to an elite, referrals-only spa, Miles takes Dan up on the recommendation to try it himself. In short order, Miles is paying $50,000 to have his DNA rebuilt in stronger form, a process that involves him being put under anesthesia by a pair of supposed scientists who seem panicked just as hes drifting into slumber. When he wakes up, he suddenly finds himself buried alive in a remote wooded area, swathed in the aforementioned cellophane and wearing nothing but a diaper. When he finally gets back to his house, Miles discovers that Miles is already there Cloned Miles, that is. Due to a glitch in the spas process, Original Miles managed to survive the procedure, which does not normally happen. That means there are two Mileses walking around, or, as I referred to them while watching Living With Yourself, Hot Paul Rudd and Slightly Less Hot Paul Rudd.

In the interest of avoiding spoilers, I wont go into too much detail about what happens beyond that introductory setup, other than to say that the benefits of having a double are quickly outweighed by complications that creep into all aspects of Miless life, including, most significantly, his marriage. At first, the prevailing question that hangs over the show is: How is Miles going to deal with this situation? It seems impossible to contend with having a duplicate forever, without someone, at some point, finding out that there are two Miles instead of one. But as the episodes progress, they become more interested in exploring the notion of what it really means to want to be better, and questioning whether a best version of ones self is even possible.

Living With Yourself is a fast and easy binge, which doesnt sound like a compliment but is meant as one. With the exception of the finale, which runs for 35 minutes, each of the eight episodes clocks in at under 30 minutes, which keeps the twists coming at a welcome pace. Within that framework, the show feels breezy but also smart, entertaining but thought-provoking at the same time. Given our societys forever obsession with self-improvement, its not so hard to imagine a spa like the one in the show actually existing; for all I know, one exists in some strip mall right now. Greenberg, Dayton, and Faris have fun with that idea, but they take its implications seriously. The result is a dramedy that shifts easily between moments of comedy, seriousness, and suspense. Every episode ends on a cliffhanger of sorts, which practically demands that you succumb to Netflixs invitation to start the next episode.

Another thing that makes Living With Yourself so watchable is Rudd, one of the most inherently likable actors on the planet. As soon as he shows up onscreen, youre on his side, and when there winds up being two of him, youre on both of his sides. The fact that its so easy to distinguish between the two iterations of Miles is a testament to how good Rudd is here. There are some cosmetic differences between the two, the chief one being their hair Original Miles has his combed forward, while Clone Miles has a do thats been visibly tszujed but Rudd also carries himself differently depending on which genetic product hes inhabiting. As Original Miles, he slouches and plods through life, looking like any schlub you might pass on the street (a pretty good-looking zhlub, yes, but still a zhlub). When hes Clone Miles, he strides straight-backed from every point A to every point B. As the better version of himself, he glows in a way that suggests he could conceivably, well, star in a Marvel movie. At times, the two Miles looked different enough in the same scene that I wondered if Rudd shot them at different times. In a recent interview with Greenberg, soon to be published on Vulture, I was assured it was not.

Rudd is really good at being silly and goofy, but he resists the temptation to steer into that for Living With Yourself, which is much more dry and deadpan. In a way, Rudd is playing the straight man straight men? to an absurd situation, and he does it with such natural ease that you dont even think about all the things he had to mentally juggle to pull off all the moments that require him to play against himself. This is hardly the first series or movie to cast an actor in a dual role, but the seamlessness of the execution is impressive.

Theres a moment in the sixth episode when Original Miles, facing a professional conundrum, asks himself the question: What would you do if you were you? Like Living With Yourself as a whole, the line is funny while raising an important philosophical question, one that guides the whole series: How would the best, most enlightened version of yourself, the person youve always wanted to be, behave in a tough situation? Living With Yourself, among other things, suggests that maybe you should start searching for the answer by looking within, rather than entering a situation that makes you, and potentially others, see double.

A bad breakup forced Robert Sean Grady Jr. to reflect on himself, and realize that if he was going to find happiness in love, he needed some important self-improvement. The 28 year-old medical record software specialist from Wilkes Barre-Scranton, Pennsylvania, had put a lot into the relationship, but when it soured he decided to work on himself. He also wanted to improve his hockey stamina.

Grady remembers always being the chubby kid, thanks in part to poor diet. Through high school he was overweight, the target of teasing from other students. After graduating, he dropped 30 pounds, bringing him down to 240. He got a girlfriend, but feeling miserable in the relationship, he turned to food as an escape from his unhappiness. My early and mid-20's weren't my best times, unfortunately, he says, and by 24 he weighed 340 pounds.

I don't think I really understood just how big I was, he says. He was still playing hockey and golfing with friends, not fully acknowledging his size. I knew I was overweight, but I didn't take it seriously.

Then came the Christmas breakup. Grady had already stopped drinking soda. Why drink your calories when you can eat something delicious? he says. He was about 290 pounds and ready to slim down. He downloaded MyFitnessPal to calculate his daily calorie intake (about 1900, but hed hit 200-300 less), aiming to lose 2 pounds a week. He tossed out all the sweets and junk food in his houseliterally throwing it away.

Revamping his diet was the biggest focus. He drinks mostly coffee and water now. His breakfast might be a Clif bar and coffee, or a ham, egg, and Swiss sandwich on wheat toast. Lunch is a turkey or ham sandwich with a cup of berries. His dinners vary; he tries to leave room for extra calories, and quesadillas have become his go-to meal. He developed a taste for spinach and mushrooms, both filling and high in fiber. He also praises slow-cooking, including health chili recipes, for helping him meal plan.

Simply cutting calories had him dropping weight quickly. He went from 290 down to 230 in about ten months. (Earlier, over the course of three years, hed cut from 340 to 290, for a total of 110 pounds lost over four years.) There were some ups and downs, but you cant argue with the results.

And to be honest, he says, I still haven't taken a step in a gym. He plays hockey two or three times a week, takes half-hour walks on his lunch break, and walks trails near his house after work. Most of his progress, though, he owes to a revamped diet.

Hes still getting used to his new size. I still feel inside like the fat guy I always was, he says. It helps to realize he can fit into 36-inch waist jeans, down from 44 at his largest. I feel incredible physically, he says. It's just the mental and emotional part that people don't take into account, and I'm trying to give myself more credit than I have.

With his newfound confidence hes met a great new partner, Barbara, who he credits as making his whole transformation worth it. Hes still aiming to get under 200 pounds, where he hasnt been since early high school, and start using weights to tighten up his body. Self improvement, he says, is never finished.
