AUSTIN, Texas -- Whole Foods Markets is recalling vegan pumpkin pies produced and sold in its Southwest region because they contained undeclared walnuts.

The nuts would pose a risk to those who have nut allergies or severe sensitivities.

In a statement Wednesday, the Austin-based grocery chain says the pies were sold as half and full pies packaged in clear clamshell packages and brown paper boxes. They bear the UPCs 24917100000 and 24917300000 with sell-by dates of Oct. 27-Nov. 30.

The recall affects pies sold in stores in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Arkansas.

"To date, no serious illnesses have been reported from the consumption of this product, which has since been removed from store shelves," Whole Foods told CBS News in a written statement sent Wednesday evening.

Rapper RZA is urging fans to go vegan for the holidays as they prepare to tuck into their Thanksgiving feasts on Thursday (27Nov14).

The Wu-Tang Clan star has teamed up with officials at the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (Peta) for a new advertising campaign named after the hip-hop icons' new album, A Better Tomorrow, in a bid to encourage more people to adopt a meat and dairy-free diet.

In the promo, Rza declares: "A better tomorrow is a vegan tomorrow. I am Rza, and I am vegan."

Explaining his participation in the campaign, he says, "I don't need a dead animal or dead piece of flesh to go into my live body. I had animals as friends .... They was happy to see me in their own animal way. I'm quite sure they did not want to be on my plate."

Rza is not the only vegan rapper in the industry - Outkast's Andre 3000 and Flo Rida have also given up eating animal products.
