TAMPA, Fla., March 15, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --Florida Tech University Online today announced the addition of a master's degree in Supply Chain Management to its highly regarded offering of graduate and undergraduate degree programs. Since the degree is delivered 100% online, working professionals are able to earn this prestigious distinction without having to put their career on hold.

With a reputation of academic excellence since 1958, Florida Tech is ranked a Tier 1 Best National University and recognized within the Top Online Education honor roll by U.S. News & World Report. An established leader in the field of supply chain management, Florida Tech has been offering the degree on campus and military bases for decades. This is the first time the quality curriculum will be available online for students across the globe.

"With supply chain and distribution systems growing increasingly complex, businesses need knowledgeable leaders capable of navigating within this dynamic, fast-paced field," said Dr. Ann Becker, Dean of the Nathan M. Bisk School of Business. "Florida Tech's Master of Science in Supply Chain Management combines management and industry-specific principles that provide students with real-world knowledge and a deeper understanding of supply chain management's inner workings."

The supply chain field offers excellent employment prospects, a fast-paced work environment, and the opportunity for career growth. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that employment for supply chain and logistics management should increase by 20 percent through 2018, which is nearly twice as fast as the 11 percent average for all industries combined.

Application for admission to the MS in Supply Chain Management program is now available online for a Summer 1 term start date. Florida Tech University Online does not require a GRE or application fee for admission and classes start every eight weeks. Students who have an undergraduate degree in a business-related field can complete the degree program in just 20 months(1). The 10 three-credit courses will examine principles of world-class supply chain management and learn how to master processes and implement strategy that impact the profitability of organizations in today's increasingly complex and interconnected global economy.

Florida Tech's highly interactive e-learning platform is powered by University Alliance and features downloadable, streaming video lectures that can be accessed conveniently on a computer or mobile device. Full interactive class participation and instructor support are facilitated via online chat rooms and discussion boards.

"We are seeing more students than ever make the decision to earn their degree online," said Mary Bonhomme, Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean, Online Learning, Florida Institute of Technology. "Online learning gives students the ability to earn their degree without quitting their job or disrupting their lives. Many students who enroll in our degree programs are professionals seeking new knowledge and expertise to advance their careers and compete in today's competitive job market."
