Are Ethereums smart contracts better than its competitors? – Tucson Weekly

Ethereums creator, Vitalik Buterin, envisioned the cryptocurrency and blockchain as an extension of Bitcoin. Therefore, Ethereum is more than a store of value; it is a peer-to-peer network that supports the expansion of its blockchain ecosystem, where users develop their own Dapps, DAOs, and NFTs.

The smart contract function gives a prominent feature of Ethereum, a revolutionary technology enhancing collaborations in online environments. The process makes asset exchanges more efficient by automating transactions based on predetermined terms and conditions. Once the two parties complete their roles, the smart contract is executed and cannot be reversed or altered.

However, Ethereum smart contracts pose several security challenges, considering front-running attacks and logical errors are common. Besides, attackers take advantage of timestamps and manipulate them.

Thats why Ethereums competitors developed their unique smart contracts functions to mitigate these challenges. But are they really that efficient and safe?

Besides the security issue, smart contracts on Ethereum are praised for their numerous advantages for users. Theyre cost-efficient, based on decentralization and automated. Therefore, they can provide conditional payments and programmable money through the use of a flexible language that supports multiple computational instructions.

Hence, Ethereum smart contracts can be used in industries like decentralized finance, supply chain management, real estate and even healthcare. Still, institutions might choose smart contracts offered by competitors.

Solana is a Web3 infrastructure system launched later than Ethereum in 2022, so its not as popular. However, its considered by many as a better alternative to Ethereum due to its low cost and fast transaction processing.

Solanas smart contracts support building decentralized applications more efficiently and leverage a superior consensus mechanism. The Proof of History technology ensures security is prioritized during transaction processing, which is a plus compared to Ethereum. Moreover, Solanas smart contract tools, such as Solana CLI and Serum DEX, enhance the blockchains development.

Cardano was released in 2017 and it provides better scalability compared to Ethereum due to its layered architecture. Cardanos blockchain is a productive environment for smart contract development, as it was designed through unique methods on a research-driven approach, making it stable and secure.

One of the best things about Cardano is its energy efficiency features that ensure low gas fees and high transaction speeds. Hence, Cardano is great for creating smart contracts because its native language is designed to allow versatility among multiple industries, supporting the growing demand for the blockchain to be used for smart contracts.

Ethereums smart contract function is based on the Turing system that includes the Solidity programming language and the EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine). While most blockchains work similarly, Stellar is different.

The blockchain uses numerous programming languages, such as Python or PHP, through which transactions are executed with constraints. Smart contracts are powered by a multi-signature feature that the two parties have to sign, while Atomicity technology combines multiple operations in a single transaction. Hence, if one operation fails to complete, the other smart contracts will be triggered anyway.

The distributed ledger technology can be leveraged for smart contracts through the Docker container, a system that defines application services. It may be more challenging to run smart contracts on the Hyperledger Fabric network because the technology is more complex.

However, its an intricate project because it supports smart contracts while running on top of the operating system. At the same time, it enhances high-level programming features through the Turing complete system and uses the key-value pair data model. The blockchain network is private, so it requires approval from certificate authorities (CA).

Considering the multiple competitors to Ethereum, were wondering if the technology behind it will ever evolve. The main problem of Ethereum is the rising costs and lack of scalability, so new blockchains can always appear and deliver better services.

Still, Ethereum has a great potential of becoming the best blockchain and smart contract support. Using Solidity, smart contract gas costs can become efficient through the following functions:

Caching storage in memory to avoid storage loads;

Using calldata to enhance runtime execution;

Making some variables immutable to avoid storage-writing operations;

Leveraging private constants instead of public;

At the same time, smart contracts can be upgraded to fix vulnerabilities and add new features. However, improvement may add a new level of complexity that can increase flaws in the system. Moreover, centralization risks may appear due to individuals performing unauthorized updates, which is why users must trust developers in this process.

Recently, Ethereums team provided a development roadmap for the blockchain that would solve its prominent issues. There are currently six stages of improvement, starting with the Merge, which has already been deployed, and ending with the Splurge, which will handle minor fixtures. In between the two, Ethereum plans to increase the number of transactions per second, mitigate risks and make block verification more efficient.

Among these updates, an additional set of EIPs, or Ethereum Improvement Proposals, will contribute to reduced end-user costs, efficient networks, and handling of complex operations. Still, a primary interest is given to improving smart contract execution. For instance, the EIP-5656 operation will deal with copying data in memory that will optimize smart contracts. At the same time, the EIP-6780 will allow smart contracts to be deleted automatically from the blockchain to free up storage space. EIP-1153 will ensure smart contracts are more flexible and gas will be consumed more efficiently. Therefore, the upcoming years will constitute a better and stronger smart contract function for Ethereum.

Ethereum is mainly known for a diverse blockchain, where Dapps, DAOs and NFTs emerged and increased in popularity. But none of these features would see light without the smart contract technology, which enhances automatization and fairness in the exchange between two parties. The technology is revolutionizing and is already introduced in real-life use cases in industries like healthcare and finance.

Gold prices remain elevated. Should you invest in 1-ounce gold bars now? – CBS News

If you're going to invest in gold right now, make sure you understand which gold assets make the most sense. Getty Images/iStockphoto

Gold investing has been top of mind for many investors over the last few years. After all, when inflation and other economic issues are looming, investors tend to turn to safe-haven assetslike gold to protect their wealth and mitigate losses from more volatile assets. But the unique benefits that gold offers in uncertain economic climates haven't been the only draw recently.

Gold prices have soared since the start of 2024. The first milestone occurred in March when prices touched $2,160 per troy ounce up by about 8% compared to the previous high. The price of gold then climbed to nearly $2,260 per ounce on April 1 before notching yet another record in late May. And earlier this week, gold reached a new pinnacle when the price climbed to over $2,472 per ounce.

Prices have ebbed since then, but gold remains elevated today. In turn, you may be thinking about investing to capitalize on any future price growth. But given the recent price run, is gold and1-ounce gold bars, in particular still a prudent investment option? Here's what to know.

Start comparing the gold investing options available to you here.

There are a few compelling reasons to add 1-ounce gold bars to your investment strategy right now:

While gold's price is high overall, 1-ounce gold bars are a viable entry point for many investors. These compact units offer a more manageable way to add precious metals to your portfolio, bridging the gap between prohibitively expensive larger bullion and less substantial smaller denominations. And their standardized size allows for incremental portfolio diversification, enabling you to gradually build your gold holdings in line with your financial capacity and risk tolerance.

Learn more about the many benefits that gold investing can offer you today.

Gold is typically considered a longer-term investment. However, there is still room for short-term growth, as the recent price trajectory indicates. All it takes is the right economic environment for that to happen. And many experts think there's still room for more price growth. So while there are no guarantees, if you buy into 1-ounce bars now, you may be able to capitalize on any future appreciation.

Inflation is cooling, but it hasn't hit the Federal Reserve's 2% target rate yet. And like all gold investments, 1-ounce bars can serve as a hedge against inflation. That means buying in now, while inflation remains high, could deliver big benefits. After all, the value of 1-ounce gold bars (and other gold investments) tends to rise alongside increases in the cost of living, helping to preserve your purchasing power.

Gold is considered a liquid asset, but certain types of gold investments, like 1-ounce gold bars, are more liquid than others and are easily tradable. That's because the standard size and weight of these gold bars make themeasy to sell when needed. With 1-ounce bars, you also have the flexibility to sell a portion of your gold holdings without liquidating your entire investment. This can be advantageous for managing cash flow or rebalancing your portfolio.

Proper storage and insurance for physical gold can incur ongoing costs, even when you purchase gold in smaller denominations. However, the compact size of 1-ounce bars makes it easier to store your gold securely at home or in a safe deposit box. They're also more portable than larger bars if you need to transport them.

The gold market isn't immune to scams, and counterfeit gold bars can be an issue. While you should still ensure you're purchasing from reputable dealers to avoid potential counterfeits, the standard size and weight of 1-ounce bars can make them easier to authenticate compared to larger bars. That, in turn, can potentially reduce the risk of buying counterfeit gold bars.

As gold prices continue to sit near historic highs, 1-ounce gold bars present an intriguing option for investors. These bars offer a combination of accessibility, liquidity and potential for appreciation, which can make them an attractive choice for those looking to diversify their portfolios or hedge against economic uncertainties.

As with any investment decision, though, it's crucial to align your choice with your financial goals and risk tolerance. After all, the recent gold price trajectory may offer the potential for further gains, but it also increases the importance of careful timing and consideration for your investment.

Hydrogen storage, heat conduction, gas storage, CO2 and water sequestrationmetal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have extraordinary properties due to their unique structure in the form of microporous crystals, which have a very large surface area despite their small size. This makes them extremely interesting for research and practical applications. However, MOFs are very complex systems that have so far required a great deal of time and computing power to simulate accurately.

A team led by Egbert Zojer from the Institute of Solid State Physics at Graz University of Technology (TU Graz) has now significantly improved these simulations using machine learning, which greatly accelerates the development and application of novel MOFs. The researchers have published their method in npj Computational Materials.

"To simulate certain properties of MOFs, it is necessary to simulate huge supercells. This applies, for example, to the calculation of heat conduction in MOFs, which is highly relevant for almost all applications," says Egbert Zojer, describing the challenge that had to be solved.

"The simulated supercells often contain tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of atoms. For these huge systems, it is then necessary to solve the equations of motion five to 10 million times. This is far beyond present day computational possibilities using reliable quantum mechanical methods."

Thus, until now, transferrable force fields often parametrized on the basis of experiments were often used for such calculations. However, the results obtained with such force fields turned out to be generally not sufficiently reliable.

This is now fundamentally changed by the use of machine-learned potentials. These are adapted to quantum mechanical simulations by utilizing a newly developed interplay of existing algorithms, including approaches developed at the University of Vienna. For the necessary material-specific machine learning of the potentials, the quantum mechanical simulations need to be carried out only for comparatively few and significantly smaller structures.

As a result, the calculations run many orders of magnitude faster and it is possible to simulate the forces in the huge supercells many millions of times on modern supercomputers. The decisive advantage here is that there is no relevant loss of accuracy compared to doing the simulations using quantum mechanical methods.

For the example of heat conduction of MOFs, this means that the newly developed simulation strategy will make it possible to simulate the relevant material properties even before the MOFs are synthesized, thus allowing researchers to reliably develop customized structures on the computer.

This represents a major leap forward for research into complex materials, which for heat transport will, for example, allow researchers to optimize the interaction between the metal oxide nodes and the semiconducting organic linkers. Using the new simulation strategy will also make it easier to overcome complex challenges. For example, MOFs must have good or poor thermal conductivity depending on their application.

A hydrogen storage system, for instance, must be able to dissipate heat well, while in thermoelectric applications good electrical conduction should be combined with the lowest possible heat dissipation.

In addition to simulating thermal conductivity, the new machine-learned potentials are also ideal for calculating other dynamic and structural properties of MOFs. These include crystallographic structures, elastic constants, as well as vibrational spectra and phonons, which play a decisive role in the thermal stability of MOFs and their charge transport properties.

"We now have tools that we know are incredibly efficient at providing us with reliable quantitative figures. This enables us to systematically change the structures of the MOFs in the simulations, while at the same time knowing that the simulated properties will be accurate. This will allow us, based on causality, to understand which changes in the atomistic structure generate the desired effects," says Egbert Zojer, who knows that research groups in Munich and Bayreuth have already taken up the new simulation strategy despite its recent publication.

Dear doctor. I eat healthy and exercise. Why am I tired all the time, no matter how much sleep I get? – Daily Mail

Posted: June 2, 2024 at 2:45 am

The internet is alight with people looking for answers to one simple question: why am I always so tired?

A quickgoogle search turns up countless responses like this one on Reddit the forum 'productivity'.

It reads: 'I eat a healthy diet, I exercise, take vitamins and get enough sleep yet I'm always constantly tired and low on energy, I feel like I could fall asleep at any point of the day, even during my workouts. Is there a way to figure this out?'

You might look to common culprits diet, exercise or food. But even people with a perfect routine can be bogged down by seemingly bottomless fatigue.

If this describes you, there are a number of other factors that you might not be considering that could be to blame,Dr Stuart Fischer, a New York based physician told DailyMail.com.

These range from the familiar, like stress, to the more dramatic, like hormone imbalances and sleep disorders.

There's also the chance you could be suffering from a rare condition such as chronic fatigue syndrome, which involves sustained and extreme exhaustion. The illness is a lifelong disease that affects an estimated836,000 and 3.3 million people.

It can't be solved by rest, coffee or medication, and can sometimes get in the way of leading a normal life.

It's difficult to determine what might be causing your fatigue, since it's a symptom in so many different conditions, Dr Neha Vyas, a family medicine physician at the Cleveland Clinic, told DailyMail.com.

However, both Dr Fischer and Vyas said that a thorough doctors visit should be able to determine what's causing your unique brand of exhaustion.

Sometimes, the problem can be solved by making simple changes to your lifestyle.

The NIH recommends between seven and nine hours of sleep per night, eating a well rounded diet full of fruits and vegetables and making sure to exercise for 3 hours a week. Doing all these things could solve your fatigue.

If the problem still persists, here are six things that might be to blame for your sluggishness despite getting plenty of sleep, nutritious food and exercise.

One potential reason you may be feeling sluggish could be that your don't have enough healthy red blood cells running around your system. This is called anemia.

Your blood cells carry oxygen around your body - key in making all the tissues run in your body.

When they're not working properly, you don't get all the oxygen you need, which can make you feel tired, Dr Neha Vyas, a family medicine physician at the Cleveland Clinic, told the DailyMail.com.

About 3 million people in the United States have anemia, according to the NIH.

Anemia is popularly known as having low-iron, and many people choose to bulk up on red meat and spinach in order to get more of the essential nutrient, thinking that might be the cure to their energy fix.

Click here to resize this module

But anemia can be caused by more than a low-iron diet Dr. Fischer said. There are a few different disorders that cause you to lose red blood cells.

One example is called thalassemia, which is a genetic disorder that is known to affect people in the Mediterranean.

In this disease, the body doesn't produce enough hemoglobin, which is the molecule that carries oxygen around the body.

Boston Children's hospital estimates this form of the disease affects 1 million people.

Another example is that sometimes people develop anemia temporarily after they lose blood in surgery.

Anemia can also affect women each month when they're on their period, especially if they bleed particularly heavily. This compounds with other energy drains during the menstrual cycle, like hormonal changes, which can bog someone down.

Regardless of what kind of anemia you may have, doctors can usually discover it in the lab with a simple blood test. Then, treatment usually involves taking a regular iron supplement.

But, Dr Fischer said, don't start taking iron pills on the superstition that you may be anemics, because they can come with unpleasant side effects, like constipation.Wait until you get a diagnosis to act on this hunch.

'As a doctor, I'm supposed to know how to wade through someone's symptom complex to figure out if there are fatigue is psychological, sociological, philosophical, medical or endocrinological,' he said.

This small, butterfly shaped organ that lives in the front of the nix, right near the Adams apple helps dictate how your body spends its energy.

It produces hormones that regulate your metabolism - or the rate that your body uses energy. Sometimes, people's thyroids produce too much or too little of these hormones - which can make them feel tired.

Dr Fischer said this may lead to, 'severe fatigue that nothing will make better. Red Bull, coffee, nicotine, nothing will make it better.'

Like anemia, thyroid disorders can only really be determined by a doctor, he said.

But if you are diagnosed with a thyroid disorder, there are hormone therapies that you can take that should help your body re-balance its energy.

Thyroid dysfunction is one of the more common fatigue diagnoses, Dr Nyas said.

Approximately 12 percent of the US population will develop thyroid problems at some point in their life, according to Weill Cornell medicine.Women are five to eight times more likely to develop a condition than men.

Our body uses stress to prepare us for something challenging - whether that's competing in the Olympics, going on a job interview or testifying in court.

When we enter this state of stress, our body gets flooded with chemicals like cortisol and adrenaline - which spike your heart rate, send more blood to your muscles and help you feel alert.

This is a biologically challenging state for our body to be in, and after our system has been bombarded with stress signals, it nosedives into a crash, Dr Fischer explained, which can make us feel exhausted.

In small doses, stress can be helpful. But these days, many people are stuck in daily stress cycles - which can affect our energy levels, sleep quality and mood, Dr Fischer said.

This is of particular concern for people who work long hours in stressful jobs, he said.

Dr Fischer tells people to do their best to worry less in day to day life and make sure that when you're not working, you're taking the time to relax, recharge and rest.

Though hearing that fatigue might be in your head may sound dismissive, Dr Fischer said there are a host of psychological affects that could be causing serious drain on your body.

This includes depression, anxiety, PTSD and more, DrVyas said.

In all these conditions, fatigue may be the first sign that you're struggling, or it could be a cause behind the disorder in the first place.

Depending on your particular psychological condition, physicians will recommend different treatments that might help alleviate your tiredness.

For example, depression is sometimes caused by a chemical imbalance in your brain, Dr Fischer said.

In the case that you're dealing with a chemical imbalance - taking mood drugs that add more neurotransmitters back into your system could help bring your energy back.

The NIH has warned about a silent health epidemic of adults suffering from pre-diabetes - representing an estimated 97.6 million Americans.

Before you are diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, the body slowly begins falling into dysfunction in ways you might not notice.

Insulin is a hormone that your body produces naturally to tell you when to use the sugar circulating in your body that you get from food. It helps control how your body uses energy.

When someone gains a lot of weight or doesn't eat enough food, their bodies natural levels of insulin might fall out of whack Dr Fischer said.

For example, in someone that gains a lot of weight rapidly, their body might begin producing way more insulin than they need to accommodate.

Overtime, a body that's bombarded with insulin can become resistant to the hormone's effects - meaning your body has a harder time knowing when to use the sugar that's in the blood stream.

This is a similar to what happens when someone has diabetes - and insulin resistance is often a precursor to the chronic condition.

This, Dr Fischer said, can make someone feel fatigued.

Diabetes can also cause someone to feel tired, but if it's managed properly, shouldn't be debilitating.

Sometimes, you might go to bed early, wake up late and still get a bad nights rest, Dr Fischer said.

There are a number of sleep disorders that might be lurking under your closed eyes that trick you into thinking you're getting better rest than you are.

One example is sleep apnea.

This disorder causes someone to stop breathing while they're asleep. When you don't get enough oxygen in your body, you feel tired.

Also, when you stop breathing, you tend to wake up frequently, which makes you get less sleep overall, and can make you fatigued, Dr Vyas said.

Another example is parasomnia, otherwise known as sleepwalking. When your body is moving around at night, you're not getting the same quality of sleep that you would if you were lying still.

Then there are plenty of other conditions - like narcolepsy, sleep paralysis, and restless leg syndrome, which can all make the sleep you are getting less restorative.

If you have a sneaking suspicion that any of these could be plaguing you, it's best not to jump to conclusions, she added.

Sometimes, these are caused by medical conditions, but other times, it's just a passing fad.

'There's a lot of weird reasons for fatigue and that's why this topic is somewhat challenging,' she said, adding, 'check with your doctor if you're concerned.'

How Quantum Computing Is Already Changing the World – InvestorPlace

Posted: at 2:44 am

without comments

[Editors note: How Quantum Computing Is Already Changing the World was previously published in December 2022. It has since been updated to include the most relevant information available.]

Im a history junkie. So, in this special Sunday issue of Hypergrowth Investing, let me share an interesting story that I bet a lot of you have never heard before.

And interestingly enough, it could be the key to helping you capitalize on the AI Revolution.

Back in October of 1927, the worlds leading scientists descended upon Brussels for the fifthSolvay Conference an exclusive, invite-only conference that is dedicated to discussing and solving the outstanding preeminent open problems in physics and chemistry.

In attendance were scientists that, today, we praise as the brightest minds in the history of mankind.

Albert Einstein was there; so was Erwin Schrodinger, who devised the famous Schrodingers cat experiment, and Werner Heisenberg, the man behind the world-changing Heisenberg uncertainty principle and Louis de Broglie, Max Born, Niels Bohr, Max Planck.

The list goes on and on. Of the 29 scientists who met in Brussels in October 1927, 17 of them went on to win a Nobel Prize.

These are the minds that collectively created the scientific foundation upon which the modern world is built.

And yet, when they all descended upon Brussels nearly 94 years ago, they got stumped by one concept. Its one that, for nearly a century, has remained the elusive key to unlocking humankinds full potential.

And now, for the first time ever, that concept is turning into a disruptive reality through breakthrough technology that will change the world as we know it.

So what exactly were Einstein, Schrodinger, Heisenberg and the rest of those Nobel laureates talking about in Brussels back in 1927?

Quantum mechanics.

Ill start by saying that the underlying physics of this breakthrough quantum mechanics is highly complex. It would likely require over 500 pages to fully understand.

But, alas, heres my best job at making a Cliffs Notes version in 500 words instead.

For centuries, scientists have developed, tested, and validated the laws of the physical world, known as classical mechanics. These scientifically explain how and why things work, where they come from, so on and so forth.

But in 1897, J.J. Thomson discovered the electron. And he unveiled a new, subatomic world of super-small things that didnt obey the laws of classical mechanics at all. Instead, they obeyed their own set of rules, which have since become known as quantum mechanics.

The rules of quantum mechanics differ from that of classical mechanics in two very weird, almost-magical ways.

First, in classical mechanics, objects are in one place at one time. You are either at the store or at home, not both.

But in quantum mechanics, subatomic particles can theoretically exist in multiple places at once before theyre observed. A single subatomic particle can exist in point A and point B at the same time until we observe it. And at that point, it only exists at either point A or point B.

So, the true location of a subatomic particle is some combination of all its possible positions.

This is calledquantumsuperposition.

Second, in classical mechanics, objects can only work with things that are also real. You cant use an imaginary friend to help move the couch. You need a real friend instead.

But in quantum mechanics, all of those probabilistic states of subatomic particles are not independent. Theyre entangled. That is, if we know something about the probabilistic positioning of one subatomic particle, then we know something about the probabilistic positioning of another subatomic particle meaning that these already super-complex particles can actually work together to create a super-complex ecosystem.

This is called quantum entanglement.

So in short, subatomic particles can theoretically have multiple probabilistic states at once, and all those probabilistic states can work together again, all at once to accomplish their task.

And that, in a nutshell, is the scientific breakthrough that stumped Einstein back in the early 1900s.

It goes against everything classical mechanics had taught us about the world. It goes against common sense. But its true. Its real. And now, for the first time ever, we are learninghow to harness this unique phenomenon to change everything about everything

This is why the U.S. government is pushing forward on developing a National Quantum Internet in southwest Chicago. It understands that this tech could be more revolutionary than the discovery of fire or the invention of the wheel.

I couldnt agree more.

Mark my words. Everything will change over the next few years because of quantum mechanics and some investors will make a lot of money.

The study of quantum theory has led to huge advancements over the past century. Thats especially true over the past decade. Scientists at leading tech companies have started to figure out how to harness the power of quantum mechanics to make a new generation of superquantum computers. And theyre infinitely faster and more powerful than even todays fastest supercomputers.

Again, the physics behind quantum computers is highly complex, but heres my shortened version

Todays computers are built on top of the laws of classical mechanics. That is, they store information on what are calledbits, which can store data binarily as either 1 or 0.

But what if you could turn those classical bits into quantum bits qubits to leverage superpositioning to be both 1 and 0 stores at once?

Further, what if you could leverage entanglement and have all multi-state qubits work together to solve computationally taxing problems?

Theoretically, youd create a machine with so much computational power that it would make todays most advanced supercomputers seem ancient.

Thats exactly whats happening today.

Googlehas built a quantum computer that is about158 million times fasterthan the worlds fastest supercomputer.

Thats not hyperbole. Thats a real number.

Imagine the possibilities if we could broadly create a new set of quantum computers that are 158 million times faster than even todays fastest computers

Imagine what AI could do.

Today, AI is already being used to discover and develop new drugs and automate manual labor tasks like cooking, cleaning, and packaging products. It is already being used to write legal briefs, craft ads, create movie scripts, and more.

And thats with AI built on top of classical computers.

But built upon quantum computers computer that are a 158 million times faster than classical computers AI will be able to donearly everything.

The economic opportunities at the convergence of artificial intelligence and quantum computing are truly endless.

Quantum computing is agame-changerthats flying under the radar.

Its not just another breakthrough its the seismic shift weve been waiting for, rivaling the impact of the internet and the discovery of fire itself.

We think the top stocks at the convergence of AI and QC havea realistic opportunity to soar 1,000%over the next few years alone.

So which stocks should you be buying right now? And which should you be selling?

Those are the billion-dollar questions we need to answer now if we want to make big money from top AI stocks in 2024.

Which is why I went public with all the details aboutArea 52

A stretch of land in the midwest where the U.S. government is covertly testing whats set to becomethe worlds first quadrillion-dollar technology.

In this brief presentation, I reveal the reason this technology is about to revolutionize everything

75 Hard Challenge: The ultimate test of self-improvement beyond wellness fads – IOL

Posted: April 13, 2024 at 2:40 am

without comments

Our wellness routines can quickly fall apart like a flimsy house of cards in the fast-paced hustle and bustle of modern life where maintaining a consistent gym schedule competes with learning the art of skincare and staying hydrated feels like amission.

Enter 75 Hard, the wellness challenge sweeping the streets of social media, which wellness experts describe as the solution to transforming your life from the inside out while flexing your mental toughness and commitment muscles.

The 75 Hard challenge, which has taken social media by storm (1.3 million hashtags for #75hard and counting, not to mention the more than a billion TikTok views), is not your garden-variety, slim-down scheme or a get-fit-quick plan.

It's not about counting almonds or achieving Schwarzenegger-esque biceps but rather about embarking on a journey of self-improvement through five rather unique "rules".

But in a world drowning in fitness fads and nutty nutrition advice, the burning question remains: is 75 Hard the real deal or just another flash in the wellness pan?

Is it safe, effective, and most importantly worth sacrificing your Netflix binges and late-night snack sessions for?

As per the 75 Hard website, the appeal lies precisely in its rule-driven regime. However, whether it's the path to enlightenment or just another wellness wagon to fall off is up for debate.

The 75 Hard Challenge was created in 2019 by Andy Frisella, a public speaker, entrepreneur, and podcast host.

But what can you eat on 75 hard, exactly, and what does it all involve?

The 75 Hard challenge consists of a few components: following a specific diet, completing two 45-minute workouts, taking progress photos, staying hydrated, and reading daily.

Specifically, there are five core rules to follow:

75 Hard routine boasts that this intense challenge will "permanently change your life," focusing on mental toughness and discipline.

What is the best 75 Hard diet?

75 Hard does not feature a "diet" plan. The ideal eating diet is one that you decide on and try to follow through on for the entire challenge. Selecting a diet plan that complements your lifestyle and fitness goals is the aim, as there is no one "best" diet.

Sample 75 Hard Diet Meal Plan

Following an analysis and validation of the challenge's feasibility in a recent Yahoo post, Miami-based dietitian and nutritionist, Roxana Ehsani, RD, created seven complete days' worth of meal ideas that you can try:

A Major New Vegan Conference Is Coming To The UK – How To Get Tickets – Plant Based News

Posted: April 4, 2024 at 2:46 am

Whats thought to be the UKs first all-vegan animal rights conference is taking place later this month.

The inaugural Vegan Animal Rights Conference (VARC) combines workshops and panels led by industry experts with networking opportunities and information on impactful advocacy. Taking place over two days, VARC has over 43 different sessions in total.

The event aims to unify and energize the vegan and animal rights movement by connecting activists of all kinds and fostering a sense of shared purpose through talks and activities.

The organizers say that VARC promises to be an inspiring gathering, aiming to ignite new initiatives, strengthen ongoing efforts, and enhance the sense of community among advocates for animal rights and veganism in the UK.

Speaking to Plant Based News (PBN) VARC Founder and Director Liz Flynn said: The UK is a hive of animal rights and vegan advocacy, imagine what we could achieve with our own conference here, dedicated to looking at our unique challenges and opportunities.

There are now approximately 2.5 million vegans in the UK, a 1.1 million person increase compared to 12 months ago. Meat consumption fell to record lows in 2023, and an increasing number of people are moving away from animal diets for their health, the planet, and the animals.

Along with Flynn, VARC was co-founded by Emily Huang and Esther Salomon, who have collectively spent years within UK animal rights working on training and leadership development, direct action, strategizing, and mobilization in various parts of the movement.

The trio describes VARC as a strictly grassroots effort, involving many different people working in their free time to design and organize. In a statement on the events website, Flynn, Huang, and Salomon write: Each of us believes that in order to achieve animal liberation, the movement needs many people working on a variety of different strategies.

These different strategies include and combine both corporate campaigning and direct action, challenging laws and disrupting the food industry through alternative proteins. The organizers add that VARC welcomes both established strategies and novel ones.

The strength of our movement lies in our diversity and unity. With VARC 2024, we aim to showcase the incredible range of voices and tactics within our community, demonstrating that there is not just one way to advocate for animal rights, but a multitude that can unite to form a powerful force for change, explained Flynn.

The event will begin with a keynote speech titled Lessons from 30 Years of Vegan Advocacy by Generation Vegans Director of Communications Kate Fowler, while panel discussions range from How We Can Use Science to Improve Public Support for Animal Freedom to Why We Need to Work Effectively With the Farming Community.

Weve curated sessions that challenge, inspire, and educate. From undercover investigations to legal battles for animal rights, each session is a piece of the larger puzzle of advocacy. Its about showing the multifaceted ways we can fight for change, said Flynn.

Other speakers and discussion leaders include Plant Based Universities Regional Co-ordinator Alistair Stewart; Humane Society UKs Senior Public Affairs Manager Amro Hussain; Animal Justice Project founder Claire Palmer; Animal Think Tank founder Laila Kassam; Viva!s Head of Investigations Lex Rigby; and ALF founder Ronnie Lee.

For the full VARC agenda including timing, read on here.

The inaugural VARC will take place at the Mercure Manchester Piccadilly Hotel from April 13 14, 2024.

Ticket prices are tiered depending on income from GBP 89 per person up to 168. (There is also an option to donate an additional 10 plus fees to subsidize someone elses entry.)

VARC 2024 is more than an event; its a beacon for change in the animal rights and vegan community. Were crafting a space where advocacy meets action, knowledge meets passion, and individuals become a movement, added Flynn.
