Ready to find this?

By Renee Goyeneche

A personal vision is more than just a singular goal; it's a comprehensive picture of how you want your life to look, driven by your core values, passions, and long-term aspirations. Once you define your vision, you can work with the end in mind, aligning your personal and professional paths for a more cohesive, fulfilling and successful life.

When your vision is clear, the work you do in one area of your life naturally supports and enhances the others, and you'll see the benefits in seven key areas.

When you prioritize your values and goals, it informs your approach to decision-making and guides your actions. For instance, if you view integrity as a core value, this principle means you will prioritize honesty in relationships and commitments with family and friends. This might involve being truthful even when it's difficult, standing by your commitments, and consistently showing respect and fairness in your interactions.Professionally, integrity might mean seeking workplaces and roles that uphold ethical standards, ensuring that your career choices are consistent with your personal beliefs, leading to greater job satisfaction and a sense of purpose.

A clear purpose motivates you to pursue your passions and goals. For example, if your vision emphasizes personal growth, you'll naturally look to expand your horizons. At a personal level, that may look like learning a new language or developing a new hobby. This same drive can lead you to excel in your career, taking on challenging projects or seeking additional training. You'll also be more likely to choose a job you're passionate about because you're intrinsically motivated to choose something that sparks your interest. The desire for growth also builds resilience because you cannot grow without adapting to change.

A well-defined personal vision clarifies decision-making in all parts of your life. For example, if you prioritize family, you might focus on spending quality time with loved ones, planning family vacations, or coaching your child's sports team. Professionally, this clarity might act as a filter for making career decisions, helping you evaluate job offers, projects, and opportunities based on how well they align with your family commitments.

A long-term perspective helps you set and pursue goals that contribute to your overall life satisfaction and growth. For instance, if you value continuous learning and self-improvement, you might pursue higher education or attend training or workshops. In your professional life, this same value helps you set and pursue SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound) goals that align with your overall life plan. If you want to be a leader in your field, for example, you might set goals to study and implement techniques used by people you admire.

If your vision includes being a supportive partner and friend, you will prioritize clear communication, trust and working to understand a perspective that differs from your own. Professionally, these same priorities will improve your interactions with colleagues, mentors, and industry peers. You might see this translate to effective collaboration and teamwork as you build positive professional relationships and create a supportive work environment.

Understanding your priorities helps you lead by example in your personal life. For instance, if your vision includes providing community leadership, you might organize neighborhood cleanups, volunteer at shelters, or start a local garden project.

In a professional management role, this might involve setting specific, achievable goals for your team and encouraging open communication to address any challenges. Providing clear expectations and support creates a positive work environment where everyone feels valued and motivated to work towards common goals.

Integrating your personal goals with your daily activities ensures a balanced and fulfilling life. If your vision includes maintaining a healthy work-life balance, you might set aside specific times for family, hobbies, and relaxation, reducing stress and enhancing well-being.

Professionally, this might involve setting boundaries for work hours, prioritizing tasks effectively, and taking regular breaks to recharge. Encouraging a healthy work-life balance within your team can also lead to higher job satisfaction, improved morale, and a more positive work environment.

Creating a personal vision helps you focus on what truly matters and provides clear direction for your life. It clarifies your decisions, keeps you motivated, and ensures your actions align with your core values. This focus boosts your confidence, enhances your ability to navigate challenges, and allows you to recognize and seize opportunities that move you closer to your goals.

Here’s How Much a $1000 Investment in Apple Made 10 Years Ago Would Be Worth Today – Yahoo Finance

Posted: at 2:34 am

without comments

How much a stock's price changes over time is important for most investors, since price performance can both impact your investment portfolio and help you compare investment results across sectors and industries.

Another factor that can influence investors is FOMO, or the fear of missing out, especially with tech giants and popular consumer-facing stocks.

What if you'd invested in Apple (AAPL) ten years ago? It may not have been easy to hold on to AAPL for all that time, but if you did, how much would your investment be worth today?

Apple's Business In-Depth

With that in mind, let's take a look at Apple's main business drivers.

Apples business primarily runs around its flagship iPhone. However, the Services portfolio that includes revenues from cloud services, App store, Apple Music, AppleCare, Apple Pay, and licensing and other services now became the cash cow.

Moreover, non-iPhone devices like Apple Watch and AirPod gained significant traction. In fact, Apple dominates the Wearables and Hearables markets due to the growing adoption of Watch and AirPods. Solid uptake of Apple Watch also helped Apple strengthen its presence in the personal health monitoring space.

Apple is expanding non-iPhone portfolio with the launch of Apple Vision Pro a spatial computer that blends digital content with the physical world.

Headquartered in Cupertino, CA, Apple also designs, manufactures and sells iPad, MacBookand HomePod. These devices are powered by software applications including iOS, macOS, watchOS and tvOS operating systems.

Apples other services include subscription-based Apple News+, Apple Card, Apple Arcade, new Apple TV app, Apple TV channels and Apple TV+, a new subscription service.

In fiscal 2023, Apple generated $383.29 billion in total revenues. The companys flagship device iPhone accounted for 52.3% of total revenues. Services, Mac and iPad category contributed 22.2%, 7.7% and 7.4%, respectively. Wearables, Home and Accessories products category contributed 10.4%.

Apple primarily reports revenues on a geographic basis, namely the Americas (North & South America), Europe (European countries, India, Middle East and Africa), Greater China (China, Hong Kong & Taiwan), Japan and Rest of Asia Pacific (Australia & other Asian Countries).

In fiscal 2023, Americas, Europe, Greater China, Japan and Rest of Asia-Pacific accounted for 42.4%, 24.6%, 18.9%, 6.3% and 7.7% of total revenues, respectively.

Apple faces stiff competition from the likes of Samsung, Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, Google, Huawei and Motorola in the smartphone market. Lenovo, HP, Dell, Acer and Asus are its primary competitors in the PC market. Other notable competitors are Google & Amazon (smart speakers) and Fitbit & Xiaomi (wearables).

Bottom Line

While anyone can invest, building a lucrative investment portfolio takes research, patience, and a little bit of risk. If you had invested in Apple ten years ago, you're probably feeling pretty good about your investment today.

According to our calculations, a $1000 investment made in July 2014 would be worth $9,495.93, or an 849.59% gain, as of July 19, 2024. Investors should keep in mind that this return excludes dividends but includes price appreciation.

Compare this to the S&P 500's rally of 180.28% and gold's return of 79.01% over the same time frame.

Going forward, analysts are expecting more upside for AAPL.

Apples near-term prospects remain foggy due to sluggish China sales amid stiff competition. It expects the June quarters (third-quarter fiscal 2024) revenues to grow low-single-digit year over year. Unfavorable forex is expected to hurt revenues by 2.5%. Apple has been playing catch-up in the AI space compared with Alphabet, Microsoft and Amazon, its peers in the magnificent seven group. Following the launch of Apple Intelligence, its competitive position is expected to improve. Moreover, Apple is benefiting from increasing customer engagement in the services segment. The expanding content portfolio of Apple TV+ and Apple Arcade helped drive subscriber growth. Apples top-line benefits from strong growth in emerging markets and growing adoption of its devices among enterprises.

Over the past four weeks, shares have rallied 6.92%, and there have been 3 higher earnings estimate revisions in the past two months for fiscal 2024 compared to none lower. The consensus estimate has moved up as well.

Jane Wang on the impact of a ten-day silent meditation camp – Tatler Taiwan

Posted: at 2:41 am

Many CEOs feel the pressure to be constantly available and connected. How do you set boundaries? What routines or habits do you have that help you disconnect from work?

I used to feel the pressure to be constantly connected and had the urge to reply to every single message or email as soon as possible. Over the years, I have learned to take a break from external stimulation and enjoy the present with myself. It can be a short break to read a book or do my daily meditation practice. For me, I have daily gym routines and I set time aside to read and meditate to seek clarity about life.

I also plan to make time every year for a ten-day silent meditation camp, which I attended in January 2024. It was my first silent meditation camp experience with no phone, no talking (not even eye contact) and no reading/journaling. I had the 10 days just to be with myself and look inwards to feel and observe. Though still amateur, it made me realise how important it is to be present and be mindful about your emotions and feelings without reaction. My mind became sharper and I became calmer after the whole experience.

What other aspects are important for sustainable leadership?

Personally, I find it very important to have fellow entrepreneur friends who can support one another in life. It makes you realise that you are not alone and things will be fine even when the current situation does not meet our expectations. I am also very grateful for people who voluntarily offer help to me as mentors or advisors. I have learnt from them enormously on both a personal and professional front.

Besides friendship and mentorship, having hobbies or passions outside of work is very important for me. I occasionally coach people as a personal trainer. The experience is very fulfilling and offers a good distraction from work stress.

Continuous learning and personal growth are vital for sustainable leadership. What are some ways you invest in your own development amidst your busy schedule?

Personally, I take continuous learning and personal growth very seriously and they are key sources of happiness to me. I invest time in holistic growth, meaning in mind, body and soul. A well-balanced personal growth keeps your ego in check and makes you a humble human being.

I have a daily gym routine, where I will try to improve my power lifting performance or enhance functionality of various parts of my body. I also try to allocate time for reading and meditation daily. These practices have become habits over the years.

Besides my routines, I occasionally register for courses to achieve certifications in my serious hobbies such as the ACE Personal Trainer certification and Precision Nutrition: Nutrition Coaching certification. The knowledge I have learned has been beneficial to myself and people around me. I have also made friends in the fitness community for sharing and learning.

Grant Cardone: This Is Why You Should Be Checking Your Balance Every Day – Yahoo Finance

Grant Cardone

Grant Cardone, private equity fund manager, real estate investor, author of The 10X Rule and creator of the 10X Profit Planner, recently argued that you should be checking your bank and investment accounts daily.

Grant Cardone: Heres Why I Predict the New Social Security Retirement Age Will Be 73

Learn More: 5 Subtly Genius Things All Wealthy People Do With Their Money

In an interview with podcast host Lewis Howes posted on Tik Tok, Cardone said that, for him, some non-negotiables when it comes to finances include that you should look at your money every day.

Experts such as Peter C. Earle, Senior Economist for the American Institute for Economic Research, also agree with this habit, stating that reviewing your personal financial circumstances daily can both be defensive and protective.

Daily checking of bank balances can serve to quickly identify unauthorized transactions or fraud, he said. Unusual activity is sometimes more immediately evident to account holders than to banks or the surveillance algorithms they utilize.

In addition, Earle said that by watching balances on a regular basis, accidental overdrafts can be remedied or prevented. But additionally, keeping an eye on spending habits can serve to keep within a budget, making sure that one-time and recurring charges are accurate and accounted for, he said.

Cardone also suggested that you should check your accounts daily because, he asserts, banks are a scam.

You get money, you work your a** off and then you give it to an institution and forget that its there, he told Howes. Wells Fargo is paying you nothing, Bank of America is paying you nothing. You send it to Chase, theyre not paying you anything.

This is something he has reiterated for many years. For instance, in a December 2023 Tik Tok video, Cardone said that he has been following this rule since he was 25 even when his account was in the red.

Yet, some experts have a different stance regarding the frequency of checking your accounts. Jay Zigmont, PhD, MBA, CFP, and founder of Childfree Wealth, said that for most people, he recommends holding a weekly budget meeting and checking your spending then.

It is unlikely that checking your bank accounts daily is going to do much besides making you more nervous, he added.

When it comes to your investments, Zigmont recommends checking on them twice a year.

The market bounces daily and if you keep too close of an eye on things you may be tempted to make dramatic changes, which can hurt you, he said. Invest for the long term and dont react to the market.

If You Really Want to Become the Best Version of Yourself, Ditch These 10 Habits – New Trader U

Posted: July 1, 2024 at 2:34 am

without comments

Personal growth and self-improvement are essential aspects of leading a fulfilling life. Our habits, both good and bad, shape our lives in profound ways. To become the best version of yourself, you must identify and eliminate the habits that hold you back. This article explores ten habits you should ditch to unlock your full potential and achieve the ultimate personal growth.

Procrastination is delaying or postponing tasks, often until the last minute. Its a common habit that can significantly negatively impact productivity and personal growth. When you procrastinate, you rob yourself of the opportunity to give your best effort and produce high-quality work.

To overcome procrastination, start by breaking large tasks into smaller, manageable steps. Set realistic deadlines for each step and hold yourself accountable. Use time management techniques like the Pomodoro method to stay focused and avoid distractions.

The way you talk to yourself matters. Negative self-talk can erode your self-esteem and limit your personal growth. Phrases like I cant do this or Im not good enough become self-fulfilling prophecies, holding you back from reaching your full potential.

To combat negative self-talk, practice self-awareness and catch yourself when you engage in negative thoughts. Reframe these thoughts in a more positive light. For example, instead of saying, I cant do this, try, This is challenging, but Im capable of learning and improving.

In the age of social media, its easy to fall into the trap of constantly comparing yourself to others. However, this habit can be detrimental to your self-worth and personal growth. Remember that everyones journey is unique, and what you see on social media is just an edited highlight reel.

Focus on your own progress and set goals aligning with your values and aspirations. Celebrate your achievements, no matter how small, and use them as motivation to keep growing.

Self-care is not a luxury; its a necessity. Neglecting your physical, mental, and emotional well-being can lead to burnout, stress, and stunted personal growth. Common ways people neglect self-care include poor sleep habits, unhealthy eating, and lack of exercise.

Prioritize self-care by creating a sustainable routine that includes activities that nourish your body, mind, and soul. This could consist of regular exercise, healthy eating, meditation, or pursuing a hobby you enjoy.

Holding grudges is like carrying a heavy emotional burden that weighs you down and prevents you from moving forward. Its a habit that can damage relationships and hinder your personal growth.

Practicing forgiveness doesnt mean condoning hurtful behavior; it means freeing yourself from the negative emotions associated with the offense. Start by acknowledging your feelings and then decide to let go of the grudge. Focus on the present and the positive aspects of your life.

Fear of failure can paralyze you, preventing you from taking risks and seizing growth opportunities. While feeling apprehensive about trying something new or stepping out of your comfort zone is natural, allowing fear to control your actions limits your potential.

Reframe failures as learning experiences and opportunities for growth. Embrace challenges as chances to develop new skills and resilience. Remember that every successful person has faced failure at some point in their journey to success.

Relying on external validation for your self-worth is a dangerous habit. When you constantly seek approval from others, you give them power over your emotions and decisions. This can lead to people-pleasing behaviors and a lack of self-confidence.

Learn to trust and value your own opinions and decisions. Cultivate self-confidence by setting and achieving goals, practicing self-compassion, and surrounding yourself with supportive people who encourage growth.

Healthy boundaries are essential for maintaining positive relationships and protecting time and energy. Poor boundary setting can manifest as overcommitting, people-pleasing, or allowing others to take advantage of you.

To set and enforce boundaries, start by identifying your values and priorities. Communicate your boundaries clearly and assertively, and be prepared to say no when necessary. Remember that setting boundaries is not selfish; its an act of self-respect and self-care.

Change is inevitable, and adapting to it is crucial for personal growth and success. Resisting change often stems from fear or a desire to stay within your comfort zone. However, becoming stagnant can limit your opportunities for growth and learning.

Embrace change as an opportunity to expand your horizons and develop new skills. Be open to new experiences and perspectives, and view challenges as chances to grow and improve.

Living in the past and holding onto regrets can prevent you from fully engaging in the present and creating a better future. While learning from past experiences is essential, dwelling on them excessively can be detrimental to your mental well-being and personal growth.

Practice letting go of the past by focusing on the present moment and the opportunities ahead. Use mindfulness techniques to stay grounded in the present and cultivate a sense of gratitude for the lessons learned from past experiences.

Doug, a 35-year-old accountant, felt stuck and unfulfilled in his personal and professional life. Despite his stable job and decent income, he couldnt shake the feeling that he wasnt living up to his full potential. Doug often procrastinated on essential tasks, engaged in negative self-talk, and neglected his physical and mental well-being.

One day, Doug decided to take control of his life and make a change. He started by identifying the habits holding him back, such as constantly comparing himself to his colleagues and seeking validation from others. Doug realized that these habits prevented him from taking risks and pursuing his true passions.

Doug began implementing small changes in his daily routine to break free from these limiting habits. He prioritized self-care by setting aside time for exercise and meditation, and he practiced reframing negative thoughts into positive, growth-oriented ones. Doug also started setting boundaries at work, learning to say no when necessary, and focusing on tasks aligned with his values and goals.

As Doug continued to work on himself, he noticed significant improvements in his overall well-being and job satisfaction. He felt more confident in his abilities and was no longer afraid to take on new challenges. Dougs newfound mindset and habits allowed him to excel in his career and eventually pursue his dream of starting his own accounting firm. By ditching the habits that once held him back, Doug transforms his life and becomes the best version of himself.

Personal growth is an ongoing journey that requires self-awareness, dedication, and a willingness to let go of limiting habits. By ditching these ten habits procrastination, negative self-talk, comparing yourself to others, neglecting self-care, holding grudges, fear of failure, seeking validation from others, lack of boundaries, resisting change, and dwelling on the past you can unlock your full potential and become the best version of yourself.

Youve developed the resilience and flexibility needed to adapt to new situations, allowing you to navigate lifes challenges easily.

One of the hallmarks of a more assertive person is the ability to own up to their mistakes and take responsibility for their actions. Instead of engaging in the blame game or making excuses, you focus on finding solutions and learning from your missteps. This level of accountability demonstrates maturity and a commitment to personal growth.

Setting boundaries is an essential aspect of self-care and personal well-being. If youve started to recognize and communicate your limits assertively, its a sign that you value yourself and your time. Saying no to things that dont align with your goals or values takes courage, but it allows you to prioritize your needs and maintain a healthy balance.

Reflecting on your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors is a powerful tool for personal growth. This level of self-awareness is a crucial indicator of a stronger and more self-aware individual.

When you define success on your terms and prioritize self-improvement over seeking approval from others, youre on the path to becoming a better version of yourself. Instead of relying on external validation, you focus on your goals and values, allowing you to lead a more authentic and fulfilling life.

Embracing challenges as opportunities for learning and growth shows a solid and resilient mindset. If you view failures as stepping stones to success rather than insurmountable obstacles, youre well on your way to personal development. A growth mindset allows you to approach life with curiosity and a willingness to learn, leading to continual improvement.

Cultivating gratitude is a powerful tool for personal growth and well-being. Imagine yourself appreciating the small joys in life and focusing on the positive aspects of your experiences. In that case, its a sign that youre developing a more grateful and content mindset. This shift in perspective can lead to increased happiness and a more fulfilling life.

Surrounding yourself with supportive and uplifting individuals is crucial for personal growth. If youve started to invest time and effort in building and maintaining meaningful connections, its a sign that you value the power of healthy relationships. These connections provide a source of encouragement, inspiration, and accountability as you navigate your journey.

Taking care of your physical and emotional health is essential for personal growth and strength. If youve started to engage in activities that promote self-care and prioritize your mental well-being, its a clear sign of progress. Seeking help when needed and prioritizing your mental health demonstrates a commitment to your overall well-being.

Emotional intelligence involves recognizing and managing your emotions while demonstrating empathy and understanding towards others. If youve noticed an improvement in your ability to navigate emotional situations and communicate effectively, its a sign of growing emotional maturity. This skill is essential for building solid relationships and navigating challenges gracefully and resiliently.

Being open and honest about your feelings and experiences takes courage, but its a sign of a stronger and more authentic individual. If youve started embracing vulnerability and cultivating genuine connections with others, it clearly indicates personal growth. This level of authenticity allows for deeper, more meaningful relationships and a greater sense of self-acceptance.

Holding onto grudges and resentment can be a heavy burden that hinders personal growth. If youve started to practice forgiveness and release negative emotions, its a sign that youre prioritizing your well-being and moving forward. Forgiveness doesnt mean condoning hurtful behavior; instead, it means focusing on the present and letting go of the past for your own well-being.

A thirst for knowledge and a commitment to lifelong learning are hallmarks of a more robust and well-rounded individual. If you find yourself actively seeking new experiences and opportunities to expand your knowledge, its a sign that youre embracing personal growth. This curiosity and openness to learning will serve you well in all aspects of your life.

Presley, a 32-year-old restaurant manager, was at a crossroads. She had worked in the hospitality industry for over a decade, but the long hours and high-stress environment affected her mental and physical well-being. Presley realized that she needed to make a change, not only in her career but also in her personal life.

Determined to improve herself, Presley started by setting small, achievable goals. She began practicing mindfulness and self-reflection, taking time each day to assess her thoughts and feelings. This introspection helped her identify areas where she needed to grow, such as developing healthier coping mechanisms for stress and learning to communicate more effectively with her team.

As Presley continued her journey of personal growth, she discovered the importance of setting boundaries and prioritizing self-care. She learned to say no to extra shifts when she needed to recharge and started engaging in activities that brought her joy, like hiking and painting. These changes improved her work-life balance and helped her develop a more positive outlook on life.

Over time, Presleys commitment to personal development began to transform her life. She became more resilient in the face of challenges at work and in her relationships. Her newfound emotional intelligence and authenticity allowed her to build stronger connections with her colleagues and loved ones. Presleys journey of growth had not only made her a better restaurant manager but also a better friend, partner, and overall person. She continues to embrace opportunities for learning and self-improvement, knowing that the path to becoming her best self is a lifelong journey.

Becoming a better and stronger person is a lifelong journey that requires dedication, self-awareness, and a willingness to embrace change. By recognizing these 13 signs within yourself, you can celebrate the progress youve made and continue to strive for improvement. Remember that growth is not always linear, and setbacks are a natural part of the process. Embrace the journey, be kind to yourself, and trust in your ability to overcome challenges and emerge stronger on the other side.
